I never took this artist for granite I have loved his music since the day he came out and I still love it. I am happy that other Generations arnao appreciating the hard work that artist took so seriously in the day. Writing the music, rehearsing the music, riding the lyrics I mean just every detail was perfect

I remember I was 11 years old in 1980. Every Sunday I would listen to America’s top 40 with Casey Kasem. Christopher Cross is my absolute favorite singer. Reminds me of a simpler time a happier time when I was in elementary school and would go to the skating rink and dance and skate to all the great music of the late 70s.Thank you for sharing his beautiful music. It is now called yacht rock. That’s the genre of music this kind of music is.

Hey there, 12+ year Navy Vet. here. I was in USN Boot Camp at RTC San Diego mid April-June 1980, when this song was at it's height of radio play. Our Company Commander would let us listen to the radio a hour or so each evening. This song would play, while hearing airplanes taking off every few minutes from SD International. Would make you really home sick, wishing you could be flying home on one of them. Once you realized that BC was just a temporary head game. It wasn't that bad.

That track is my favorite track of his. It's a tossup between this track and "Ride Like The Wind". If I'm not mistaken, in the track "Ride Like The Wind", you can hear Michael McDonald's voice in the background during one part of the track where he sings, "such a long a way to go...". Anyways, Michael McDonald is another iconic artist who's music I personally think you would love as well, judging by the way you reacted to this track.

Sailing won for best song. Today's "music" is 10 to 20 people jumping all around a stage to the same techno-pop beat. It's about the visual of the "jumpers" and not about the tune. THIS song is "musical" and you can feel it all through yourself. You want to close your eyes (no jumpers needed) and lose yourself in the melody, and let it wash away any stress you may have had. Today's "music" can't do that.

This song got a decent amount of airplay in the 70s when I grew up. I remember it playing as we enjoyed the pool in the summertime, during times that were both simpler, but also complex in their own way . . .

It's said, MTV basically ended C.C.'s popularity, in that he wasn't an "MTV friendly" looking guy. He is, was a normal looing great musician during the era of "big hair," all that craziness.

Christopher Cross has such a lovely, almost hypnotic, voice. His voice draws you in and invites you to go on a voyage with him. Everything about this song is "Ear Candy" as far as I am concerned. Several of his tunes are on my daily play list.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. In an interview, he said that this song was a metaphor for the arts... I see it as a metaphor for prayer.... That the beauty of music like this , you can make it your own...

This is one of the greatest songs ever written. It remind me of being back at Lake LBJ. My grandparents used to own a lake house down there and we used to go there every summer when I was a kid. This song is soul. I’m glad you like sailing by Christopher cross. This song is one of my favorites.

When I was in the hospital last year from August 10 to October 15, this song sent me to sleep every night. Always had amazing dreams. Songs like this and others like Waiting for a Star to Fall by Boy Meets Girl have always been the ones I think of if I ever found Atlantis or some other sort of paradise on earth. It would be playing this sort of thing just...in the air...somewhere.

I had taken sailing lessons the year before this song came out. He captured in this song perfectly the feeling of being out in a sailboat, the wind in your hair - the feel of the water. An absolutely gorgeous song and still one of my favourites. You got it entirely

Commenting to your reaction. . I was a good bit younger when this song first hit the charts. Nearing 70 now but K S O as one who has been fortunate to go “Sailing” this song always evokes warm and pleasant memories standing at the helm of a sloop, wind sighing through the sails, the warm, gentle caress of the sun on my shoulders, the intoxicating scent of the salt air and the rush of water past the hull of that sailboat ⛵️. I hear this melody 🎶 and the syren song of canvas and wind rises in my heart once again taking me to a place of peace and serenity. Thank you for your reaction to a tune that is still a favorite as I near 70.

Chris Cross traded in an old beat up Stratocaster in a little guitar shop where Stevie Ray Vaughan hung out growing up. Stevie went in one day took that old guitar down and started playing it. After a while he wanted to buy it, traded a guitar the owner had given him. The owner helped him rebuild it. No one has seen that guitar since he died,, it was priced at $200. His brother probably has it, now it's priceless. SRV named it Number one, first wife.
