I think of this song as a gift of escape, like sailing, for those who never have the privilege of being in that idyllic scene so well recreated in this vividly visual piece by Cross. A sweet classic for sure.

This is the west coast sound at its best it a nice soft easy listing song.
I was 9 years old when this song came out, and, for some reason, I remember it as always making me feel a bit sad, but in a good way...if that makes any sort of sense! Still does...40 years later...Great Song!
I'm so glad I grew up when music was real. 60's and 70's were fabulous except for my teenage angst! I'd go back with my current wisdom. I miss bell-bottoms!

Oh man, this song will NEVER die! Lol, I will always remember Christopher Cross for that theme song he wrote/recorded for that early-80s hit comedy film 'Arthur', but 'Sailing' is the one that just takes you THERE. Strange how his career went, one moment he was blowing up around that point in time and the next he quietly exits stage right as if he knew well enough to not let too much of a good thing end up getting the better of him. He's still with us, by the way! ;-)

Hi, I like your channel. I don't understand much English, but I like to see your reactions and some comments that I do understand. It's strange, but it doesn't let me put automatic subtitles in Spanish. Sometimes I don't know if you listen to a song for the first time or if you already know it. I make a proposal: it would be great if every x months / year you made a video summary with the best songs that you liked the most. How they have evolved, if they have stayed with you, if you keep listening. Or a video with the best discoveries you have made of everything, since they are already many songs.
