Both of these comments are well put.
I think his guitar playing is very underrated…. It’s gets over shadowed by his amazing voice!!!
Once you listen to Chris, you have to hear ALL his songs, when he was with bluegrass band Steeldrivers or The Jompson Brothers.
Sometimes there are artists that have the ability to transcend their genre and reach a broader audience. Chris Stapleton is definitely one of those artists.
Chris Stapleton is country , southern rock and soul all rolled up in one ,a true artist .
I know that this reaction video is already almost a year old, but I had to rewatch it. Isn't it amazing that not only does Chris SANG, but that he can make his guitar SANG right along with him? I swear it matches his vocals so well, the way it speaks as he plays it. So insane!
Favorite song on this album!!!! No one sings like this man!!!! I must have listen to this song 10 times straight the first time I heard this song!!! Still my favorite!!!

you know, I understand the meaning of it, but I don't get why black people make THAT face. I don't think I've ever seen any other race make that face unless they were actually smelling something gross.

Kur Norock nahhhhh... that face means it’s funky! Nasty! Outside the box! It means I’m showin some respect! Goin to the next level baby! GTD!
There is so much power and emotion in his voice it makes me feel like I am on Death Row. In a way we all are.
This is why rock guitarists appreciate Chris, because rock was originally based on the blues. Muddy Waters had a song "The Blues Had A Baby And They Named It Rock And Roll". With that infectious medium speed bluesy riff, I almost couldn't restrain myself from picking up my guitar and playing along. I should put it on a loop.

He isn't the greatest guitarist out there, but he is quite effective. One thing he does that is common among people who play lead and rhythm on the same song, he works a scale back to the low E instead of the first position on the A string. This works to flow back to rhythm, if need be; keeps his options open and for smooth transitions.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HEARD, "DEATH ROW"! CHRIS STAPLETON'S VOICE NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME!!!!

I realize Pandora is inaccurate in some areas, but for whatever it's worth, Chris's solo songs and prior records with The Steeldrivers are described on Pandora as having "blues elements", and "alternative country" characteristics. He obviously is not mainstream country. :) To me, his instrumental chords and vocals are Blues + Southern Rock & Soul.

Man your reactions are awesome. You are my favorite. I had a chance to see Chris Stapleton live in concert at the Greensboro, N,C Coliseum back in October of this year, he is all that. Thank you for reacting to him. Another good song of Chris Stapleton is "what are you listening to ". Please react to that one. Thank you. ✌peace
Would you please consider reacting to Brandi Carlile singing "The Joke" on the 2019 Grammys? That woman can SANNNNG. and my head damn near exploded when I saw her Grammy performance. True, incredible talent right there.
Chris is so smooth he slides uphill. That damn bass player is in the pocket.
As always I enjoyed this selection of two more of his songs. Though I've heard them it's always a pleasure watching your reactions and emotions I see on your face!
That’s some good ‘ole COUNTRY FUNK!❤ Superb!
It's almost like the beat fading and slowing, at the end, is him taking a walk to death row. He's a reborn Mississippi blues man
Thank you so much for respecting the music. I enjoy your comments as well, but it's good to hear the entire song, uninterrupted.

I pressed the LOVE button on this one🥴😊🥰🤣😜😂 That is some good musak innit? I fell in love with Chris and his skillz the first time I saw/heard him live on Saturday Night Live, like you, I was almost stunned! Listen to Tennessee Whiskey for a real treat😊😎
It is so much fun watching others discover this man's music..
Death Row has a feel to it reminiscent of Cocaine by JJ Cale/Eric Clapton. And then the I Was Wrong live performance. The I Was Wrong live performance. I remember when I first saw it I thought to myself I am witnessing a truly legendary performance. I must have seen this hundreds of times since then and nothing has convinced me otherwise.
Jamel_AKA_Jamal... I love that you respect and enjoy talent, regardless of the genre. I personally wouldn't categorize Chris as country because he crosses 'barriers' but a generational talent for sure.
Jamal, way back before Chirs went to Nashville to become a songwriter trying to get a record deal as a singer, he played in a bluegrass group named The Steeldrivers. He did this to stay active in music as far as playing and to subsidize his income. I think that if you go to KZread and look up The Steeldrivers and the song "Peacemaker" you will be pleasantly surprised..... #TheKentuckyConnectionFromNorthCarolina.
Barely alive and his Aretha Franklin tribute are awesome!!!!!! Also his early stuff Fool Me Again!!!

Death row and whiskey and you are sort of quieter songs by Chris Stapleton but he sets a mood that is so powerful😊😊😊 blessings from Toronto😊😊😊
Chris wakes up in the morning and just FEELS like writing a smash hit, does it with no effort and then has a beer.
Try Gary Clark, Jr.
I’m a .64yo white guy who cut my teeth on Motown and stayed away from Country my whole life. But then I saw a brother reacting to Country and I just had to see what the hell was going on! But after listening to this joint, I’d throw my underwear at Chris! The last person I did that to was Teddy Pendergrass in his wheelchair - I even got a laugh out of him!
