It’s been so long since Patty has done anything. I’m so glad Chris was able to get her to come back for a minute. At 65, she still sings so beautifully. Never Leave Harlan Alive at the CMA’s was pure gold.

I agree. When she and Chris sang Harlan I had tears in my eyes. The reception she got was kinda overwhelming for me. I'm such a fan who has always believed that she was underated. Other artists knew she was incredible...but the music wasn't radio friendly. When I hear some female singer nominated for a Country award, I cringe. I'm not talking about Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves or Carrie Underwood. I'm not familiar enough to the recent music.

I was born and raised in Muhlenberg County. I loved there for 30 years. It was an amazing place to grow up. Peabody hailed more than just Paradise away. He hauled a lot away including all those pensions away from those hardworking men and their families. It makes me so sad for my old town. It used to be one of the riches counties in that area. I’m proud to be from the Berg but that county needs more jobs for those hardworking people. My husband and grandfathers gave their souls to the coal mines in order to take care of their families.

John wrote this song off and on when he worked at the old now defunct American Can Company off first ave in Maywood, IL. He smoked terrible back then. It eventually took its toll. I listened to him sing this on the tin plate shipping docks so many years ago my memories are worn. He came to my house in Hoopeston once and we played and sang songs. Little Shannon is with John in Heaven. I miss them both.
