I'd say one of the biggest problems is that masturbation and porn is so normalized. I didn't even think it was possible for a man to stop either. And I didn't know the issues they caused mentally. But after learning about nofap, and all the people doing it, it really helped me. Whenever I start to feel weak, I just watch nofap videos on KZread.

i didnt jerk off for almost a year, but i still have a problem with watching porn(not on sites but more like watching instagram models or sexualized yt videos which also counts as porn in my opinion). Now my question is, if i start masturbating again(without watching anything), will the urge to watch porn go away because i release regularly? i feel like this whole nofap thing was unproductive for me because the real problem(porn) still exists in my life and i also feel so sexually frustrated and desperate, which doesnt really make my interactions with girls better than before nofap, but i have to say that my life drastically changed(in a positive way) after starting nofap which helped me develop all the other good habits

the analogy to gym was very good. It's not about never ejaculating again in your life, or never masturbating. The point is to break habitual masturbation. Just like the goal of working out is to make it a habit, not to workout every single day because you think your muscles will evaporate if you don't. For example, I no longer drink. But does that mean I will never drink any alcohol ever again? No. It just means I no longer drink weekly, and it's no longer a habit. And the longer you go without it, the less you miss it, until you may not really feel the need to do it at all, unless you consciously choose to. Like I think now I drink only about 2-3 times per year, on birthdays or new years. But I don't drink often, and I don't get drunk. I think it's the same with masturbation. You leave porn, you stop masturbating daily and it's no longer some fundamental need like eating or drinking water.

Rip to your prostate health. Nofap medically has no benefits outside of 8 days when your test and gh peak, they then return to baseline. If you’re using it temporarily as a way to kick a habit and build discipline then of course it’s beneficial. But if you know anything about human physiology you know going that long without ejaculation is terrible for your prostate health. Stop believing morons on the internet and learn how the body actually works. It’s amazing to me how gullible people are. One of the reasons why people crave "junk food" which is most of the time starch and sugar items, its because they skip fruits. If sweet fruits were prioritized and eaten first like dates, bananas, raisins, etc, the cravings would be limited to the lowest. environment design is about making the good habits MORE convenient and not the other way around. that is why i think the argument for environment design is valid, but I think Hamza is right on not building a dependency when stopping a bad habit. otherwise, you create a fragile medium that your habits rely on. don't rely on willpower to start good habits, rely on it to stop the bad ones. to visualize with an imaginary chart, if goodness and badness in habits had a score, your goal is to reduce the bad meter to zero. there is no negative, whereas you want to optimize your good habits as much as infinitely possible, thus any aid in that area is valid.

If you've never had to flex your will because everything has always been handed to you, you won't have the same control over your will as someone like a Buddhist monk or something like that. So it's actually good to strengthen your will power despite the narrative coming from the "powers that be" saying otherwise.

Check out the work of Dr. Roy Baumeister who spent his career on studying Will Power & Discipline. Back in the early 1970's he conducted "The Marshmallow Test" for kids in kindergarten in various schools in the San Francisco area. Individually, they would give a kindergarten student a marshmallow but they would get a second one if they didn't eat the first one only after 15 minutes had passed. Plenty of the students couldn't wait till the end of the 15 minutes and others did by creating little stories to distract them or talk to the psych students assisting the test. 20 years later Baumeister checked up on the much older students on how well they turned out at life. A great many of the students who couldn't wait for the second marshmallow had higher incidentals of drug & alcohol problems along with divorce histories than the ones who could wait to get the second.
