    Good Day Mandy, When I live in NYC I would go to Chinatown and get something similar over crispy noodles with seafood or Beef Chow Mein. They called it Cantonese Chow Mein. Soooooo Good. Have a Blessed and Beautiful Day ✝️

    I'm so glad Mandy's making rice without a rice cooker, and she used measurements instead of the 'finger' method. Most Asians online say 'we all use rice cookers and the finger method', which obviously is not true. I've been making rice 2-3 times a week for 20 years - I always measure, and never once felt a need for a large special purpose device taking up limited counter space. You do you, but don't mistake 'your way' with the 'right way'.

    Same here. Half Chinese, and been making rice for 30+ years with a pan and the stove. Once you figure it out, it's easier and makes better rice. And brown rice comes out better on the stove than in a cooker. I always measure as well, but my Chinese mom used the finger or eyeball method.

  • @tylerp1265

    This is just anecdotal, but my rice was always too soggy or too dry when I measured. After I started using the finger method, it’s been perfect every single time. I’d call the finger method the right way.

  • @kindablue1959

    @kindablue1959

    @@tylerp1265 If you measured properly and do the same steps, in the same pot, on the same stove, and cook for the same time, there's no way one time will be dry and another time wet. You're doing something differently and don't know it, or you're lieing to try to make others look wrong.

    Neither does hers. She set the oven to 200F and she dehydrated the rice that way, just checking and letting the steam out every 30 minutes.

    Sorry for all the posts, Mindy, do you think a wok works better on a hot plate or gas stove top, or doesn’t matter?

  • @SoupedUpRecipes

    Depends. If you cook Chinese food a lot, a wok is necessary. If you only cook Chinese food once, then you can make stir fry in a large saute pan as well.

    A wok is best on whatever burner is capable of the highest BTU. I have made a few wok "ranges" from a "Jet burner" from e-bay or Alibaba and a simple frame made from pipe purchased at a home good store. Obviously, this setup is outdoor only.
