If the government had allowed public conversation instead of issuing mandates, then Americans might have been receptive. Except for those of us who actually like cars and trucks--for serious hauling, being able to work on em ourselves, for the entire rural/farming/ranching used truck economy,, for the entire used vehicle construction industry, for long travel and vacationong, etc. It would have been smart to include the poor, apartment dwellers, the young, and fixed income seniors 8n that conversation, too. If you tell an American they have to do something they don't want and dodn't ask for, you can expect civil disobedience.

Yep, legacies got caught with their pants down, moving into EVs too late, unable to make them cost efficiently like the market leaders are, thus had to subsidize them with ICE sales. Well now the market is down, ICE sales are falling, EV sales growing at a slower pace while there's turbulence - high inflation, high interest rates etc - so these laggards are losing too much money to keep up. So what do they do? They cut their lifeline so the golden parachutes can survive the short term, it's always the next guy's problem. But boy they sure are spending big on their media to spin the message about hybrid popularity, when all they're doing is just moving one ICE card bucket to another.
