Yes, I did that also, but I promoted all my paw s to bishops and put all pieces on their starting positions, and the eight extra bishops on the pawn starting position. First time I stalemated, but second time it worked. But then I had to checkmate anyway.

I think this would actually be a hard challenge, every time you capture a non queen piece it's removed but then upgraded and placed somewhere on board. To decide where it's placed (if you're playing white) start at a8 and try to place it, if the square is occupied go to b8, then c8 ect. If all of the 8 file is taken then go to a7 and continue until you get an open square. How the upgrading works, captured pawns promote to bishops or knights (whichever he has less of, if it's a tie do bishop) captured knights and bishops promote to rooks, captured rooks promote to queens, captured queens are permanently removed from the board

Love the content, I got an idea. You have to take turns moving each piece. You start by moving your pawn > horse > bishop > rook > queen > king then back to the start.

Been watching a lot of your content lately, hoping you make a challenges playlist. I love watching them!

Challenge: you can only make captures on light squares because you cant see in the dark duh, if a piece is on a dark square it must move to a light square when possible, once a piece is on a light square it cant go to a dark square, you can only give checkmate once all of your pieces are on a light square. Name idea: Chess but my pieces are scared of the dark EDIT: The dark squared bishop has to be sac'd on the second move.

Ok maybe sacrificing the light-squared bishop is too much. The dark-squared bishop already can't do anything and knights aren't as effective because they alternate light and dark squares, which means only the g1 and b8 knights can move, and that's it.

It's funny to see a national master struggle to beat a 250 rated bot when he has a mate in 3 shown by the evaluation bar

I thought like: u could do a checkmate in 3 or 4 (7:21) ! --> Knght to A3, Rook on A2 captures knight on A3, Queen takes rook on A3, Martin does something and you CHECKMATE him with Queen to A1! Then I thought, Oh. he can't take anything.

So a while ago me and a friend of mine tried beating Martin with the following rules: He has to not take a single piece(Pawns dont count, promoted pawns do) We have to take every piece of his and then checkmate with a pawn and the idea was to see how fast we could do it Would be interested to see you try

Chess but your king and queen are in a very strained marriage. The queen is tired of constantly going to war and just wants to stay home (king and queen on their starting squares). She will only go out to the battlefield if her husband is by her side. If he retreats to his man cave (castles or moves to the castled position (puts a rook between himself and the queen on the back rank) manually) she will go out but she will have an affair with one of the knights (by being in an adjacent square) for at least one turn. If a bishop catches them in the act (by having a diagonal line of sight or being in an adjacent square), the king will know what has happened and order the offending knight to sacrifice himself. Because the bishops will not grant them a divorce, if she is seen with a knight a second time he will have them both (queen and knight) sacrificed. The entire situation is an embarrassment to the country and morale is low so the pawns will not fight valiantly, they will only move one space at a time and will not enpisant or willingly put themselves in harm's way unless it is the only legal move or the king is on the battlefield (past the second rank). Writing ridiculous story-based challenges is fun but since the micromanager one was confusing and I now know that you actually might accept such a challenge I've tried to make the rules make more sense just in case.

If your king is at e1 or left of e1, you can only play on the king side and if your king is on d1 or right of d1 you can only play on the queen side. You're allowed to move your king as much as you like if you wish to play on the other side of the board

Challenge: The Square is Lava Rules: 1. You must move the h or a pawn 1st. 2. there will be 2 additional pieces for the pawn, knight, bishop, rook and queen waiting at the bench. NOTE: The 2 additional pieces are just for you. Not for your opponent. 3. You are not allowed to castle king or queen side. 4. A piece is only allowed to move to a square only twice and the square is red/lava. 5. If a piece move to a square that is red/lava, The piece you moved to the lava becomes the opponents piece. 6. You are forced to defend checkmate and the square becomes red after the piece moves. Good luck! And by the way, I love your videos and I subscribed you. :)

Challenge idea: The king is a distrustful supervisor. You cannot move a piece unless its to a square the king can see. The king see like a queen and other pieces block line of sight. You are allowed to move blocking pieces further away as long as they end their move within line of sight. (For example. E2->E4 is a legal opening move for white since the king would see the square after the pawn have moved.

Challenge idea: Chess vs Martin but each turn, you can use Stockfish to find the best move (and only that one move). The only catch is you can never make that best move unless it is an instant recapture of a piece that made a capture the previous move. (So queen trades etc. can happen) This means: If there's only one move to get out of check, you lose. You can only checkmate if there's at least 2 moves that delivers mate in one. (Since the best move will always be the M1). If too easy, Vs Nelson.

I think perhaps the trick on the current video (and others of this type) is to remember that Martin doesn't know your extra rules so thinks that you will take his pieces.

Challenge: Zeus and Nelson vs Hera and Martin. Lore: Zeus sneaks back into Olympus after a week long rendezvous with a king's harem (while taking his form, of course). Hera, pissed off about him cheating for the umpteenth time decides to do something unconventional for her: possess the body of the queen of a rival kingdom and starts a war. Zeus, worried about the possibility of losing such a harem before he could thunder his bolts again with them, takes possession of the king he impersonated and defends the kingdom. However, Zeus is both exhausted from the amount of fun he had and he's conflicted by what he wants to do and how he should stop his wife from going too far. Rules: Because your king is possessed by Zeus, all your pieces must pay a price before you may capture. In order to capture with anything, you must blunder something immediately prior; in the case of capturing with the king, however, you must blunder/sacrifice two pieces. If you get checked or checkmated by the enemy queen, you lose instantly. Added difficulty option: If you capture the enemy queen at any point, you lose (does not apply to enemy pawns that promote to a queen).

Challenge idea: Chess but all of Martin's pieces are atomic pieces (just like in the atomic chess variant). This means every time he takes a piece or a pawn, his piece explodes in a 3x3 square and destroys every surrounding piece (except pawns). On your side, your king is the only one to be atomic, meaning he can't take anything (or he just straight up explodes). It might be too simple so you could also do that when Martin pieces capture your stuff and explode, only your pieces are destroyed (meaning his piece and all his surrounding allies stay still).

Bf5 instead of Bg4 seemed very appealing (Qxf5 Nd3++ and Rd1#). By the way Martin probably also plays with kinda the same challenge : it seems he can't take any piece that would give him a notable material advantage (the Nc4 or the Qf4 for instance) :P

Now I'm feeling proud that Martin blundered a fool's mate when I was playing against him with a single rule "NOONE allowed to take anything".

You have to checkmate him with a king move. Like by castling or discovered check

Beat martin but you are only allowed to make captures with bishops (you can choose whether or not checkmate is needed to be delivered by the bishop, but in practice i found it very hard for the two bishops to get down into a winning endgame so you can spam bishop promotions, so i chose to allow any piece to deliver checkmate) This includes ALL SCENARIOS, so if martin puts you in check and you cannot capture the offending piece with a bishop you must leave it. so there could be 'checkmate' where your only legal move is to capture but it cant be with a bishop. this is a loss

I'm imagining what Eric Rosen might do if he was doing this challenge. At 7:25, he would probably say, "Oh no, my queen, my beautiful queen!", and then at 10:45 he might do another "Oh no, my queen!", as a sort of reverse psychology trick, having previously taught Martin that if you capture Eric's queen you'll get checkmated.

This made me think of the game that hans niemann became GM with, I believe it was 24 moves with no captures. A GM is no martin though

Idea 2: Your pieces cannot move further than one square (it is forbidden to move the knight).If it is impossible to move any piece by one square, you will also lose.

Would be hard to summarize into a title

I have a challenge for you:- Chess but you can move only one pawn in one match. For ex:- if you choose e2 pawn then you can not move any pawn except e2 during the whole match.

Challenge You play with treats on and you have to defend against every threat and play every threat (it is probably way too easy so you can play it against higher rated bots.

Challenge: Chess but your pieces are batman. They cant step in the light squares (Pieces originally in the dark squares do not count)

Here's a challenge: Chess, but your pieces are scared. You can only move a piece when it is adjacent to your king, meaning you have to move your king next to a piece to move it.

I like how this would probably have been easier against a better bot.

How about - every time you get any piece to the back rank, it promotes to the next piece? Pawns promote to Bishops or Knights. Bishops & Knights promote to Rooks. Rooks promote to Queens. Queens promote to a second king, but if either king is mated, you lose.

If you give martin a check you will have to give him a queen. if you check mate martin you loose but in the next match you have to give him 4 extra queens. if martin checks you then you have to give him a pawn. if martin checkmates you then you also loose but in the next match you have to give him 4 extra pawns.

Amusing. It is almost satire at this point. I am thinking, "Why would anyone want to do this?!" A testament to your prowess as a player that you can find a way to do it.
