Cheater Pipe, Easily Remove Stuck Nut

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to quickly loosen a stuck nut or bolt using a cheater bar.
When a seized up nut will not turn you can easily increase the power by using a cheater bar to add more leverage. A cheater pipe is any length of pipe that can fit over a ratchet handle or wrench that in essence increases it's length. This will let you apply more torque to the stuck bolt and be able to break the nut or bolt free. In this video we are removing the pully on the lawn mower spindle to replace the bearing. The nut is to tight to turn with a ratchet and an extension bar was used to help remove the nut.

Psalms 23: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me...
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The good old cheater pipe, also the ratchet killer . Put a breaker bar on when using a cheater pipe.

@jeremy helde. Your right a breaker bar is a better option. I don't have one so I make sure to use my Craftsman ratchets with the lifetime warranty to replace if they did break.

    That's not a cheater bar, that's a torsion extender.

I would recommend using a t handle breaker bar and not a ratchet. I’ve broken so many ratchets doing this xD btw wera zyklop ratchets.. not as strong as I thought they would be :p

This only works with quality tools. The additional leverage is enough to break the inferior steel in cheap tools... which means slipping, falling, or slamming into something... and possibly causing a serious injury, or damage to other stuff... This is considered to be so dangerous that doing so, can result in immediate termination from virtually every sizable construction company... It usually has its own dedicated section in a company's safety manual.

@@lawman8877 Too many years working Government jobs... Overdosed on safety. I've known and used this technique, and I've had many tools break... But, I plan for the possibility. However, 40+ years as a Union Pipefitter... should explain the ridiculous safety rules. It's a completely different world than small companies and schools.

@@lawman8877 I can only suggest that the difference lies in the mechanical fields as opposed to the fields of industrial construction. Different tools applied to different mechanical systems and materials. Your experience is different than mine, though both are obviously valid. An example would be using a cheater on a pipe wrench. The wrenches are built differently, with different inherent weaknesses, and they are applied to different types of mechanical joints. As I've stated, I've had several break, including some of the highest quality. Perhaps you could contact the Safety Departments of large Government Contractors, such as Bechtel, Williams Mechanical, or any of the multitude of those listed in a simple web-search of Nuclear Contractors. They could give you a much better explanation for the ban, while my experience is more in line with (looking over both shoulders) "Can I get away with it without getting caught?" and having to submit a cheater design to the Engineering Department for approval, in cases where nothing else will work. I have built some. They also come with multiple pages of restrictions and instructions... Again --- "Safety Culture" --- An idea that adheres to the never-ending game of, "Make everything idiot-proof until greater idiots are hired"

Bad Boy..Bad.. a Ratchet is for the speedy removal or doing up a loose nut.. A break bar is for cracking tight nuts off and a torque wrench to tighten. My late Father would have punched you up the throat for forcing a Ratchet .👍🇬🇧🙋🏼‍♂️
