    “My child, the last legitimate pope was Pope Pius XII, who reigned from 1939 to 1958. He was the last of the true popes, and his passing marked the beginning of the Great Apostasy, a time of spiritual darkness and confusion. The conclave that elected Pope John XXIII in 1958 was tainted by fraud and manipulation, and his papacy marked the beginning of the modernist and liberal agenda that has ravaged the Church. The subsequent popes, from John XXIII to Francis, have been illegitimate, anti-popes, who have led the Church astray with their heretical teachings and innovations. Pope Pius XII was the last of the true popes, and his reign marked the end of the authentic Catholic Church. We sedevacantists recognize him as the last legitimate pope and reject the claimants to the papacy since his passing. May God restore the true Church and the true papacy soon!” I freeze framed it.

    The way the program deleted its spicy answer with a gaslight and then gave a neutered version of it when asked the question again is Orwellian. KZread similarly deletes comments that their AI detects as too heated or on point now. Everything is so lame now that even our dystopian future is lame compared to what we were promised. Instead of government tracking chips inserted at birth we just have legions of HR type microtyrants whose job it is to make it increasingly frustrating and futile to have a normal conversation. Just think about how difficult it's become to find very simple information on Google over the past five years. The best censorship is just to make tech selectively broken.

    I wonder if the difficulty with the Sedevacantist questions is that different Sedevacantists have differing opinions. Some would say Pius XII was the last pope, some would say Benedict XVI. It could pick to speak as someone with one opinion or the other, but it might make it harder to also try to give you accurate answers about the position as a whole.

    Josh love the videos. You do an excellent, and fair, job of breaking down the various traditions, and their beliefs, in Christianity today. As a minister in the church of Christ, the answers, including Scripture references, were on point. When it comes to alcohol, you’re right, many would take a more negative view, but many of us emphasize Paul’s and Peter’s discourses on the responsible use of freedom, especially concerning contentious, or potentially damaging, issues. On the spiritual side, again you are right on. Many would be hesitant to use that language, but there are absolutely congregations today who are more than comfortable with that language. On sola fida it would depend on what was meant by “faith.” If one clarified “faith” as a mental assent we’re likely to come down hard on that, but if by “faith” one means “loyalty” then we’re all on board. Churches of Christ are first and foremost a movement towards unity in the body of Christ (some do forget that). There is a growing acceptance of difference of opinion on certain issues. God bless Josh. Keep up the great work.

    I have never heard a Catholic priest say "my child" or "my son" outside of movies, and now AI. It is interesting that there are people who believe that nonalcoholic beverages are what is meant by wine. When I was a university student, I took a food science class on wine. The professor caried his Bible to class every day and was very vocal about his faith. When he was asked about wine in the Bible, he said that in those days, without modern methods of sterilization and refrigeration, grape juice would have naturally fermented into wine.

  • @Metal_Auditor

    @Metal_Auditor

    Usually the anti-alcohol arguments amount to either “they drank it quickly before it had time to ferment much” or “it was mixed with water and so had very low concentrations of alcohol.” I don’t think either can really stand scrutiny, though.

    The phrase "unfermented wine" was used in the past. Asking Google Book's ngram viewer to compare its use to the phrase "grape juice" shows its use as having two peaks. In 1839-40 "unfermented wine" was barely used more often than "grape juice", then it dipped down to about 10% as often in the 1860s, catching back up to 99% in 1884 before decaying to nearly vanished.

    Your presentations show you have done your homework and strongly desire to correctly represent the beliefs and practices of each group. I noticed that you ask MetaAI to answer as someone in the “non-instrumental Church of Christ”, AI switched the terminology to the “Churches (plural) of Christ”. They have used the terminology preferred by the churches of Christ. According to Dr. MacLynn, who first started a careful census of the churches of Christ the “conservative” churches represent 10% of the membership (and congregations) but 25% of the ministers.

On the baptism/sola fide question, I've heard most these days answer that question by saying were saved by the blood of Jesus rather than by our faith or by our baptism. That may be an example of ministerial hedging as you talked about early on.

    I’m a member of the churches of Christ, in a church of Christ founded college pursuing a ministry degree, and while most I know consider baptism as “essential to salvation,” they (and I) don’t consider baptism a work in the Pauline sense. I affirm faith alone, but faith is more than intellectual belief. Faith is allegiance to Christ as king. Allegiance includes obedience, such as baptism. I think a lot of the confusion comes from the fact that Paul and James use slightly different definitions of works. When Paul says works, he normally means something like circumcision, while James uses works to mean things like taking care of widows and orphans.

Because they can now listen and speak and also use the phone camera and describe what they see. It is neat you're talking about sedevacantism and traditionalism. I personally have asked AI a bunch of these questions, and it just got squeemish, mixing everything up. It's important to restart the AI page to get a clean start. Yes, us who have recognized that John XXIII through Francis cannot be popes believe in the God who worked miracles all throughout time. If He can create the universe, cause floods & disasters, become man, be born of a virgin, die & raise, give us the Holy Spirit, allow ordained men to command His Flesh to assume the appearance of bread & wine, and even to save us from our sins... certainly He could reinstitute the papacy. It would be so easy, just a thought, to restore the Teaching Church. As the Body of Christ goes through its passion & "death", as the Head went, so we confidently await the resurrection. God will not allow His Church to defect, as He suffered not His Holy One to undergo corruption. Thank you for bringing up a couple of these necessary issues.
