Charging Station Blocked Error: What Causes This On A Husqvarna Automower & How To Fix It

Фильм және анимация

The "Charging Station Blocked" error can be a tough error to diagnose on your Husqvarna Automower if you don't see anything physically blocking the mower from entering the charging station. What you may not realize is that this error can be cause by the way the charging station is sitting on the ground. Your charging station might be nice and level when its first installed, but after a few months of settling, rain, freezing & thawing, and other events that happen naturally, your charging station could end up causing the mower to think something is blocking it from docking in the station properly. In this video we give you a few scenarios that show how your Husqvarna Automower can think it is being blocked out of the charging station, when really it just doesn't have a straight and flat course into the charging station. So next time you get this error and you don't find anything physically blocking the charging station, be sure to check that the Automower's charging station is sitting level and that the mower can easily drive into the charging tower to dock.

    I have a slightly muddy patch in a part of my garden and I didn't realise that the small bit of mud that would get caked around the front wheel of my Flymo easiLife (different mower I know, but close enough) and it was raising the front of the mower by a tiny tiny amount but it was still enough that it wouldn't dock correctly and would give the 'Charging Station Blocked' error. It was driving me mad for ages until I figured it out!

    I had this error after 1 year of operating my 315. But my error was caused by another issue i just want to bring up to help others. I had a build up of grass around the rear "joysticks" (the two spring posts that bring the body back to center after running into an obstruction). So when the mower pushes into the dock, the resistance of the grass would not let the body return to the normal position. I took off the body and cleaned the grass away and all is working.

    Well, that was easy (once you know the secret). My 315 automower ran fine last year but would not go on the charger this year and it was driving me crazy. I moved it to slightly flatter ground but I think the key was to run the guide wire down the right hand channel. She parked in a minute. Thanks!

    In my case this error was caused by a failure of the two-pin Molex connector between the cable from the charging contacts and the charging cable to the battery. There was high resistance and the connector partially melted. This is on a 435x.

    That issue is more noticeable on the AWD's, 450's, and 550's because they use the 7 amp transformers. The higher current heats up the areas with resistance more than the lower amperage transformers. The lower amperage ones can still do it, but its a slower burn than the 7 amp systems

    I've started having this problem since 4-5 days. I have a Husqvarna 330X and it goes into the charging station and then veers to the left....after around being half way on the mat. So, it never was actually touching the charging contacts. It keeps reversing and then going left or sometimes right and then eventually stops. And when I find it, its standing almost parallel to the station always...except the back of it is still partly on the mat. Tried what you suggest on this video on the leveling part....but doesn't solve the problem. And there is no guiding wire under the mat. So, I'm stumped :(

  • @MrMuldoni
    @MrMuldoni3 жыл бұрын

    I have had a problem similar to the ones described however it all seemed to start when I lowered the cutter to position 41/2 the mower (a 315X) would arrive at the charging station but would not go on to the mat, after a few more tries it would give the error "charging station blocked" after trying all the usual things the problem wouldn't go away, as a last resort I raised the blades to position 5 and presto! back in business, a closer examination of the area leading to the mat revealed a small bump which was not noticeable from a standing position, obviously, since the ground sloped up very slightly to the mat that the smaller ground clearance was causing the blade carrier to contact the ground. Currently I am accepting the problem by not attempting to lower the blades to position 4 which is as low as I want because it's mid season and reckon there is a lot of work involved in making the "landing area" as I call it a little longer. the "landing area" obviously needs to be as level as the mat so that the mower can have a clear run to get onto the mat.

  • @RoboticMowerServices

    If it is driving under the charging contacts than either your charging station plate is bowed (not level), your front tires are worn completely flat and need to be changed, or possibly your front lift sensor springs are worn out and the top cover is sitting down on the upper chassis rather than "floating" above it. Out of all of these scenarios the unlevel charging station plate is the most common one we see.

    @@RoboticMowerServices Per your advice, I leveled it last night (and it had settled downhill). I will see how it does and check back. I will say it seems like the hinged charge contact plate moves easier than it should. I had it open to change a board last year (lightning grenaded it) and I doubt I screwed up anything going back together, but may be worth another look

  • @RoboticMowerServices

    @RoboticMowerServices

    @@corystansbury That's always a possibility, but not nearly as likely as the other scenarios. I would say if leveling the charging station doesn't solve it then pull off the top cover of the Automower and see if the magnet holder in the nose of the mower is rubbing against the upper chassis.

    @@RoboticMowerServices BTW, I ordered some springs tonight (hard to find). It certainly seems that the springs are pretty weak on the current joysticks. I probably could be accused of having let heavy grass build up on the lid over time, which I'm sure weakened the springs over time. Once we get to mowing season here in Maine (still a ways off), I'll feel better knowing those are changed out.

    Seems the high cuts are more prone to this than the originals. I think Husqvarna made a mistake in making the margin of error for docking so tiny, other brands are less prone. If fact, its becoming such an issue I'm considering on new installs to do a more permanent leveling.

    My 450x will dock, but then leaves after a few seconds, makes several attempts and then stops with “charging system problem” message. Is that likely the same issue you demonstrated here?

  • @RoboticMowerServices

    @RoboticMowerServices

    Жыл бұрын

    No, that is this issue: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h6yT3NZtiJSpdrg.html If you check the info to see what's coming through to the mower and it is the correct current then take it to the dealer to have the software updated. They added something to a recent software update that gives the mower more time to sense the correct amount of charge current rather than having to replace the mower's main board.

  • @Stavlo88
    @Stavlo882 жыл бұрын

    My issue isn't that the error is "charging station blocked". The error is "charging station error". The mower (Husqvarna 550) will make it's way back to the charging station, dock, wait 10-15 seconds and then back out again and do it all over again. This happens about 8 times and then it gives me the "charging station error" message. This might be the wrong video to ask this question but it is the only one close to the issue I'm having. Thanks for any feedback you have.

    How is there a manufacturers defect? The charging station gets screwed to the ground. If the ground is unlevel then the station will be unlevel. If the charging station didn't match the contour of the ground then there would be a step up or down in front of the charging station that would prevent the mower from driving on it.

    Give me a break. Are you seriously saying the robot won’t get into the charge station with even a slight bow in the base? Terrible design if this is true. I think it’s actually an engineering failure. Poor power control and bad software.
