Charger Hellcat plays with Ford Focus RS on the Nurburgring!

Put the Hellcat in the hands of my tame racing driver to see what the car is really capable of doing. It was the first time for him to drive the 'Cat so he was still getting used to it but she held up well. Not a bad run (9:29) considering we had 2 passengers riding along - car would make a great Ring Taxi, lol! Hope you enjoy......

(not to mention the Bugatti probably gained like 10 seconds on the long straight) the aventador is sub 4 thousand pounds that ain’t no boat, the m5? 7:38 so only 5 seconds faster than a type r civic with double the power..... E63 AMG? Dude... Renaults and clios are faster.... a Volvo S60 went faster... the Audi RS7 idk enough about it to really know how good or bad it is. The Panamera Turbo S is maybe the most impressive being over 5k lbs but it has as much hp as the aventador but tied the M5 in time.... so idk man you tell me.

Well, shortly into the lap, he didn't like the shift points & asked what the options were. I told him paddles, because he knew about those already, but I didn't tell him about the "bump shift" option on the stick. His 2nd lap the tranny was in "TRACK" mode, which was better, but his 3rd lap he used the paddles & liked it the best.... & yeah, it was a blast - thanks for watching!

@@bavarianmoparworks8668 Thanks for the reply. For the record I happen to like American muscle cars a lot. So if I've got this right if they are both stock and unhindered the Megane beats the Focus by about 20 seconds, the Hellcat by 10 seconds and the track is like 20km long? so like it gains half a second on you per Km, although it probably doesn't pan out that equally. There's a good probability that neither are stock, so who knows how it really stands. Since you're already going at speed and that's your main advantage. I'm not sure your weight has that much effect with all that power. I own a facelift MK2 Focus ST and obvs would much rather I had your car, but I think your use of the word 'plays' implies you think you could easily beat it upon your demand, but it didn't look that way. if you factored in the cost difference and your assessment of the other drivers ability.... I'm wondering if maybe a more respectful title would have been more appropriate?

@@ru55ells The '19 Megane put up a time of 7:55 here. The '16 Focus RS did a time of 8:06 (faster than a Mustang GT, lol!). ALLEGEDLY, a '15 Challenger Hellcat did a 7:51 here but I can find ZERO proof of it & while that time MIGHT be possible, I still hold it as nothing more than "MOPAR Urban Legend". IF Driver Jon was driving all 3 of those cars, all stock & all with a good set of tires on it, I would guess that the Megane would win & the Focus RS & Hellcat would both be a close second. The Ring is 20.7 km long, with 79 curves (167 or so turns) & 1500' of elevation change (500m or so). Many of the turns are both decreasing radius turns AND negative camber - so chassis setup is key. Lighter weight cars, regardless of horsepower disadvantages, will excel. 700+ horsepower can do a lot to over come inertia, but not physics, lol! As far as the title goes, when I say "play" I don't mean like a "cat w/a mouse" & it's nothing disparaging towards the Focus. It's meant that we were LITERALLY "playing around with" the Focus. This was Driver Jon's very first time behind the wheel of this car, WITH 2 passengers (one of whom OWNED the car, lol). He is WAY to experienced a driver to simply throw the Hellcat around a track like this without learning its setup & what it will handle - thus he was just getting a feel for the car. Also, he has DRIVEN a Focus RS here on the Ring, so he knows EXACTLY what that car can do - which is why we know the driver of THIS RS is not driving it to its full potential. I have a TON of respect for the RS - it punches WAY above it's weight class. It will stay side by side w/a Hellcat all the way up to 1/8th mile in a drag race. If you REALLY want to see what a RS can do, go check out my buddy Dan Brown's channel "Track FOCUSED" & watch him pull some laps here OR, better yet, watch Driver Jon pretty much lap the entire FIELD on the GP track, lol! P Zero Summer's on the car - 275's up front, 295's rear. Tires at the time of THIS lap were about half way through their life span (for me, I get around 6-8000 miles before they get slick.....had around 3k on them here with some 1/4 mile pulls as well). Previously, coming out of KZread corner, she stepped out on me with 275's on the rear. As you may have heard me state in the video, they did much better w/the 295's in that same area. This was Driver Jon's 1st time behind the wheel of the car....by his 3rd lap (the Mustang GT lap), he had the setup how he liked it & started pushing the car a little more...but by then the tires were truly gone. Everyone stateside talks bad about the Pirellis, & I know there are better tires, but for the money they do pretty damn well all around (drag racing, autocross as well as 200+mph on the autobahn). Thanx for watching!

@@bavarianmoparworks8668 this is an inspiring and fun video to watch. I own a '18 392 Charger and its fun for me. I currently run a 275/315 Atturo setup with Eibach Pros, and a front strut bar, and she's still large around corners. I could only imagine running a Hellcat on a track, let alone the most sophisticated track in the world. Are you guys military or prior? How did the track become available for use like that. I know you can pay for track laps and such but usually people stationed overseas get to enjoy it more often than not. I'm stationed stateside but dream of running both Autobahn and Nurburgring some day. Sweet content on the channel. I assume this is the passengers channel? Thanks for the detailed reply.

Germany is great - & the autobahn is better, lol! The Nurburgring has touristenfarhten days (open track days). You can buy laps for around €29 for 1 lap on the Nordschleife OR a 15 min session on the GP track. I'm hoping to do some more laps as well as going back to German Race Wars in May. Also looking to attend a couple of the rolling 1/2 mile races too..... surprisingly good car scene over here.

Couple points - this was his first serious lap in the car so he was not pushing the limits of the car by any stretch. There were a couple spots he could have overtaken the RS sooner. Driver for driver, the RS is capable of putting up just as fast a lap time as the HC, simply because its BUILT to do this. Jon has driven both on the Ring. So yes, for the money, if you want a track car, the Focus RS is a great car for the money (on the autobahn or drag strip I'd take the HC anytime!!). Thx for watching!

Guys, don’t sleep on that Focus. It’s a formidable car. The Focus has been hot for quite some time, in Europe. In the states were just getting these car in the new world car configuration. Fords and Opels were hot for years around the world. Ford gave us crap cars in the US. The Focus. The Granada. Monster cars in performance and reliability. Both completely different cars than their US counterparts. Much like GM and the Holden cars in Australia. That STI is a beast! Tuned, it’s an M3 contender at a basement price.
