Charger Hellcat vs Mustang GT on the Nurburgring!

The last (hopefully only for the season) lap for Driver Jon in the Hellcat. The Nordschleife had been closed for over 48 hours, so not a lot of rubber down on it & it was VERY slick. Despite the caution and track conditions (& the 2 of us goofing around!), he still managed to break his previous lap time (& G loads, lol!). You might be able to hear the tires, but the video does not do the BRUTALITY of this lap any justice - was an AWESOME run! Hope you enjoy watching....

@@rollin92gt haha! thats funny, but not really true. Driver Jon has plenty of time & laps under his belt & is a very experienced driver. We knew from a previous lap that day (my "Driver's Ed" lap) that the track was slick & my tires were worn out. This lap was all about pushing the car to the limits of the conditions when we could AND about having fun, since this was Driver Jon's last lap before heading back stateside. Thanx for watching!

@D B On the straights we were hitting 150mph (Flugplatz into Schwedenkreuz) - by comparison, the Camaro ZL1-1LE on its OFFICIAL lap hit 160mph through there, on a closed track, w/a pro driver & brand new tires.... so not too shabby!, 130mph through Fuchsrohre (Fox Hole) & around 120mph or so through both Stefan-Bellof-S & Dottinger Hohe. Through the turns, most were done between 60-80mph - mainly because that was all the tires could handle on THIS day due to the tires being well worn & not a lot of driving on the track the previous couple of days, so not a lot of fresh rubber. Driver Jon DID set new "G" records, despite this. 1.26 Left Lateral G & 1.16 Right Lat G. Again, not to bad for a "big boned girl", lol! Thanx for watching!

I was stationed there for almost 5 years. When I found our we could just go drive the thing, I was like, damn we should have this in the states! It’s a real eye opener. My favorite races are those that run multiple classes on a road course. That’s real driving. Thanks for sharing this. I forwarded it to my kids. I used to tell them about driving and riding on this track. It’s something special. Cars today are so much more attuned than the late 80’s early 90’s. Back then, it was about rowing gears through the track. I’d been looking forward to driving my friends M3 on it. Desert Storm delayed his delivery and ended up not getting it until stateside.

Just imagine if the Charger was tuned more for actual track instead of drag racing. It would be a MONSTER on the track. That much power on a lighter frame, and better suspension would be crazy. You can see the weight when he’s hittin the brakes, hittin those corners at those speeds and when he had those weight transfers when the back end wanted to swing loose. Crazy good driving.

He pegged a 1.16 Left lateral G, a 1.06 braking G & a 1.23 Right lateral G - not too bad considering the weight of the car & current set up. Brakes are not bad, but better fluid & steel brake lines would significantly help. Different rear end link sway bars, diff brace, 3.09 rear end, front strut brace would all definitely help shave some time off the laps. There are photographers along the Ring who take & post pictures of your car that you can purchase - I have seen about a dozen so far, with about 1/2 of them in the turns - you can see the wheel load & tire lift the chassis is going through - the track can be brutal! Thx for watching!

It cornered like a normal car to me. It didn't corner like a track car though. That bimmer lost that cat in a matter of seconds through the twisties. The cat was reeling him on the straights as expected. This track suits high hp cars. Has sharp corners and high speed corners. If you look at the speedometer through the corners compare to other cars around the ring then it's not that impressive. That HC have too much power for its chassis, fight the driver too much times for the sharper turns.

@@programmrz its actually just racing with your self against your own time. There are other cars, but if youre inexperienced like the white guy in this vid, you have to let the faster/more experienced driver pass

I'm not one of them, but I'm sure it's because the title implies they were neck-and-neck with a Mustang for an entire lap, when it was just one overtake.
