    A c-clamp will work also on pushing in the pistons and will most likely be cheaper ($3.50) Don't forget to loosen the master cylinder cover as the brake fluid will push the fluid upward as the pistons are pushed in...

    Byrds1967 when did your front and rear pads wear out? What miles?

  • @Byrds1967

    @Byrds1967

    7 жыл бұрын

    The rear pad wore out quickly at around 6000 miles when using both front and rear brake regularly. The fronts appear to last 4x as long. After 16,000 miles my front pads could have gone another 6000 miles easily. I do mostly freeway miles (little braking), but city riding (more braking) will obviously show more wear.

    We did his brakes yesterday. front and rear. He was always taking it to the dealer, so I was happy to show him how to do this, have fun, and save$. I am a long-time Harley Softail guy and own a BMW 1600 GTL now. BTW, on his roadliner, it has these reflectors connected to the bracket holding the front calipers on, you can just turn those clockwise or counter-clockwise to get a socket to that 12mm bolt. Thanks for the torque specs too, that was very handy.

    Don’t forget ur slide line and I believe you can install the pads without removing the caliper.
