Learn how to change the front brake pads on a 2008 Yamaha Raider in this video from Partzilla.com.
The Yamaha Raider has front brakes on both sides of the front wheel, so when you order parts, you’ll need to order TWO of each part required.
This is a simple job, and we’ll get some of the work done with the caliper attached and some of it with the caliper removed. First, there is a pad pin that you must remove, and we’ll do that by removing two small cotter pins and sliding the pad pin. The pin can be stubborn, so we’ll do this while the caliper is still bolted on the bike.
When you remove the pin, this will free the pad support. It may just fall out, but if not, it should be easy to remove by hand.
Now, it’s time to remove the caliper. Two bolts here, and once we get them off we can use a flat-head screwdriver to push on the old pads and get the caliper pistons back into the caliper and make room for the new, thicker pads. Then we’ll drop out the old pads.
With that done, we’ll bolt the caliper back in place. Each of the two bolts should be torqued to 29 foot-pounds. Then we’ll slide the new pads in, replace the pad support, slide the pad pin back in place, and replace the cotter pins.
Then, the whole process is repeated on the other side. When you’re done, bleed the brakes and get some new fluid worked into your brake system.
