This was my life aged 14 in 99, absolutely was addicted to this game, I remember when you play it long enough there would be comments in the game near where you save it like "addictiveness " (youve been playing too long its time too change your boxers or something)

It is still there if you look at your "game status" in the FM bar left to date in game

Trabbbyyy Denino oh ok well haven’t played football manager in over a decade now so wasn’t aware
There's something amazing about the flashing commentary when a goal went in. I can remember managing my home team (Leicester City) on CM01/02 and taking them to UEFA cup glory 😁
I have no idea why this appeared in my recommended feed but I’m glad it did. This was also my first football management game. I have great memories of this game. I preferred it when it wasn’t so in depth. Aimar and Saviola were my go to’s
This brought back so many memories! Esp the part where you take control of the opposition team and put their players on the wings 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Holiday until the here and now Paul
Wow this brings back memories!! I used to play it for hours. You'd sit there tweaking the team and it would end up about 2 hours before you'd even played a match 😁
I am older than you, when I first got addicted to Championship Manager was on the Amiga 500, Man Utd had Cantona, Hughes etc, this video brought back memories though :

Same here. Great memories! It's amazing to think how popular this series has remained through the years. The current version is always amongst the most played games on Steam.
Wow this video brings back good memories! 😎 Where has the time gone! 🙄
01/02 was my favourite Champ man.. Cherno Samba the legend

Hey, do you know about the updated version of CM 01//02? There's a crew out there that have re - built the game with current leagues and player / manager databases. Link below ( no spam nonsense, by the way). champman0102.co.uk/downloads.php
@MrBannystar

@@MrMmnngghh Thanks for the link, but is there by any chance the opposite, where the players from 01/02 can be used in FM 19? That's what I'd really love to play someday. I know there's another database that someone's done with players from around then but it's not entirely realistic and only manageable in the top leagues.

Fantastic, im from Indonesia. When im 13, got new PC and I played this too. Over the bar bro...😥
Championship Manager 3 is my first CM experience and i love every edition of it even when it changed into Football Manager...
I'd love to see you do a series with this game. It's great seeing these players from the past, very nostalgic!
Wow that was also the game that started it all for me... such good memories! Also United had a beast promising defender on this CM I think... might look into that!
Old CM games were loads of fun. And yes please, if possible make a season out of this game! :)
championship manager 99/00? completed it mate
I love the blast for the past game, it takes me back when i tried playing this game.
This made me laugh so much, I remember making myself the manager of the opposition team and moved all their players to the wing for big games, and buying my worst players for 10mil
Speaking of rein-acting to the games, I used to print off 3 months worth of results, head over to the football pitch by myself and just do some runs and shoot at the goal. Used to love doing that.... Kinda sad really :D
Oh the memories.... There was a sneaky cheat on this & the other earlier titles (00-01 & 01-02) where if you got your striker to man mark the opposition's GK he would 9 times out of 10 score a hat trick or more. He would also be offside about 100 times a match but it was worth it

Or you could just set up with ball and without ball and constantly have 10 players around the ball when defending and have 10 players right in front of the goal on attack instantly.

Haha I used to do this with a player called emile mpenza from schalke spelling might be wrong he was from Belgium
ahhh, this bring back so many memories. thanks alot man
Yes u should do a series, my first championship manager was 97/98 then championship manager 00/01.
I remember playing it till 2-3am during school breaks. There was also World Football Manager, FA Premier League Manager, Uefa Manager (which is still play occasionally :D),...
god that brought back some memories. I remember playing as the other team and putting the goalkeeper in defence so I would win haha By the way I think Scholes would have had about 20 caps by the time this was released. Great video thank you
It's so funny how you skipped Chris Sutton on 5:32 Made me laugh! I would love to see a couple of seasons on CM tbh

I did R&D on this game. Won the CL in 21 seasons. Happy times.
David May was the Phil Jones of that era. This game was my passion when i was a kid.
Such memories! Yes do a whole season. Was Tonton Zola Mokouko in this version? Cherno Samba, Pablo Aimar, Konstantinou…
David May was in the Blackburn league winning side of S.A.S. fame. He signed for Man U for a decent amount of money but had difficulty forcing his way into the side regularly.

Reminds me of good times. I'm surprised that even after 10,000 hours of CM99/00 that I would remember the interface a bit better.
Fun to see how it was back in the days, i started playing when FM 12 was out
jajajaj amazing, I remember my first fm type game was "Premier Manager 2003-04" on my GameBoy Advance, and later I moved to "Pro Evolution Soccer Manager" for PlayStation 2, that game had good graphics and in depth but not realistic settings for tunning the team. Until I met Football Manager 2008. Keep doing this type of videos
Exact same story as me pal! Played previous versions at a friends house then my Mom and Dad bought me this for Christmas when I was 13. Happy days.
God thats a trip down memory lane. I dont even remember the first one i played, I just remember it was earlier than this
Nice vid pal, made me feel an odd sense of nostalgia.
Yeah do a series on this! I'm a year or so younger than you, but I remember this game well because my dad was really into it and played it A LOT!
It hurt so much watching you scroll over Milan so many times, wanted to see that amazing team :D
Kim kallstrom Sharbel touma Simon Davies Gareth jelleyman Matt etherington And lord zlatan ibrahimovic Kennedy bakirogiu (something like that) All gods in that game Jose Antonio Reyes is like 15 at Sevilla Greatest footy manager game ever

Loved this version. I was 17 and had been playing champ for years
I used to love these early games. It was all about finding undiscovered players, and tactics, and that was about it. They then changed it to make it all about interacting with the players and the media, and playing mind games with the other managers. It completely ruined it for me, having to do all that crap I had no interest in. And they made it much harder to find those foreign bargains. I played games for a ridiculous number of seasons. I even steered Whitby Town to the premier league title, and Reading to the World Club championship, twice. The AI wasn't the best though. Other than Reading and Whitby, the giants of the English game after about 25 seasons were Wigan Athletic, while Manchester United were marooned in the Championship

RevStickleback I know what you mean. I like the additional features that try to replicate real managerial work, like press conferences and player interaction, but the simple tactics and player scouting features were just so fun.
@RevStickleback
5 жыл бұрын
@@DonsFan56 My problem with them was that they took over the game, and the interactions had far too much influence on results. You couldn't even leave them to your assistant, as if you did that, form would always nosedive as players lost respect for you. Then again, I lost so many hours of my life playing the game that it's probably for the best.

@@kevrobbo77 Were you managing one of the bigger clubs? I tried that in the championship, and each time the team's form slumped alarmingly, as the players all became unhappy - maybe because the assistants aren't as good lower down.

How far could you go? I got about 20 seasons in and the game started crashing, loads of random errors and wouldn't load 😕
loved that game, i had a player from orebro(sp) AM who had okay stats but only 3 balance. worked my way into premier league and that guy was a one man freekick machine. he ended up having pretty good stats and got 20-30 freekicks against him in most game. legend lol
the games that I used to play for many hours everyday. bring back my memories to that games
8:52 LOL ! I feel ya GoldenFM
My football management game of choice is Premier Manager 98. I remember playing it on my uncle's PC with my brother and my cousins. I tried some newer FM games (2012 or 2013) but it was too complicated for me to enjoy it. Premier Manager was just perfect.
Ah the memories. Cherno Samba, Mike Duff days. 😁
Please do a series with Man Utd on Championship Manager 99/00! This was awesome to reflect on. Would really enjoy you playing several years into the future.
Defiantly up for seeing a season on this
Aww man this was a blast from the past.
Championship Manager 96/97 which was number 2, was the first one for me. Loved all the Champ manager games when they came out.
bro we all imagine that goals and plays and i was happy!!!!!!! hello from serbian manager!!!!!
I used to play CM 97/98 and CM 01/02 a lot,i would always play from low english divisions whit my favorite team Hull city and carry them to the premier league, i remember doing it on CM 01/02 i bought a striker NANDO and he scored a ton of goals from the 4th division even in the premier league was banging goals until he retired lol, it was quite fun playing these games, i used to spend more time in transfer window buying players than playing the whole season :D.
First Championship Manager I ever had, great game and had me hooked on the series
Sounds like your childhood was so similar to mine, particularly when you mentioned controlling the other team and putting all 11 players on the wing
Championship manager 2 was my first and only CM game. 1995/1996. Still playing it today
My favorite CM is 98/99 season, but the original one without patches. I remember Robbie Keane at Wolves being ridiculously good and Tonton Zola Moukoko at Derby County. 343 formation was literally unbeatable, especially if you was in charge of Inter with Zamorano Ronaldo and Ventola up front.
That's why I always hear the matches in the radio (unless it is the Champions League final)
haha I laughed when he said he'd take over the oppositions team and mess them about, thats what I used to do when I was frustrated. Good stuff.
My best friend & I were obsessed with this game. Literally hours & hours of entertainment. Still the best game ever! Oh and I definitely imagined what was going on via the commentary & used to be so confused at what a “pot shot” was 😄
01/02 was my first
@9.00 definitely accurate😂
I’ve got the Championship manager series back to Championship manager 3. Such a great game.
david may went to my school! He played his part in the 98/99 season for sure!
I often keep going back to this game and try to make Derby finish higher than they did that season. It’s hard when you have Mikkel Beck as one of your strikers😂
Love how the background change according to the player view.
the LMA manager games on Playstation were the ones for me!
I loved this game. I had like £500 million at one point and just won everything. Tbh it did get quite easy after a while
Ahhh old times. I started playing around 97 or something.
Looks like a good laugh. We need a game like that now. Takes too long to do FM now (much as I enjoy it).
Ah memories. Didn't enjoy this version as I was playing on a really dodgy PC that kept crashing the game so could never finish more than a season before giving up. Been playing since CM 2 97/98 Update and still rate CM 01/02 and FM 2005 as the best of the series.

have you visited the CM 97/98 website with the latest data updates? Link below (it's real by the way, no spam nonsense). cm97-98.eu/
I played the first ever version. It was only a floppy disk. That was unexpectedly fun.
Love the video please do some more and would love to see you manage wolves
Thanks KZread for that random recommendation. I've played that version of CM religiously back then. SV Wehen-Wiesbaden ruled supreme over Europe.
I was addicted to 00/01. Played with Juventus. Won 3 champions leagues in a row and ended up with a team of (3-5-2) Buffon, Thuram, Sol Campbell, Cannavaro, Figo, Nedved, Zidane, Vieira, Davids, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. I was well proud of myself lol. Fun times.
Wow do I miss this game. The game play and layout has never been this good. Ultimate in game experience should never have changed it. Miss this so much such good memories.
I started with 01/02, only because the first edition with the match engine (I think 02/03) wouldn't work on my crappy old PC so a mate gave me 01/02 instead. Changed my life forever, totally immersed. The new FMs are great (although stagnating a lot) but they don't have the same nostalgic feel, even though I've played every single one.
Was such a great game!!
01/02 was the definitive iteration of the 'CM3' period (that's every game released between CM3 and CM01/02). If you were gonna do any more like this I'd definitely look at getting hold of that, I'm pretty sure it's free to download legally now, there are still thousands of enthusiasts that play it to this day. I can't play it the way I used to so I don't bother any more but I had many hours of pure enjoyment with it, probably my favourite in the entire CM series, although 97/98 pushes it close.
Premier manager 99 was my first game, it had match graphics too. you're one month older than me
Would love to see you do a series on this
for me, it was championship manager 00/01 demo, used to religiously play it for years until I got a better PC and found Championship Manager 4 in a charity shop for £1 and the rest is history.
It would be neat to see what this game would predict for the 2018/2019 season !
I played this game for 24 game years. No actual player was in the game anymore. The game however invented some names and I continued playing with them. I choose Lazio and turned them into a continuosly champions league winner, national championship and domestic cup winners. What a game...
I remember using the editor to set all skills on 20, lowering ages and winning with Club Brugge KV the Belgian league 15 years in a row and almost every year the EC 1. But i had to block outgoing transfers , to keep winning. But when the players reached end of their 30's fun was over , club dropped hard.
I think my first 02/03 watching my dad play and not understanding. Good memories
You should have seen my parma team with pablo aimar and javier saviola signed on the cheap, wonderful bit of business.
Yeah i remember playing this game at high school.
So many memories great times
That’s when it was at urs best. Super fast, doing all night sessions and completing a full season lol
Had the same CD case... 🤗 but i begun much earlier... with Football Manager 92/93 Italia 🤗
Best cm game ever, so fun competing with brothers on this
I played this game ...such a good game
YES! Such a classic
Paul scholes passing - 15 Eh what....
The memories... 95/96 was my 1st one
What a game that was ... cost me my A Levels grades that game did lol
yes to a series!
I know many ppls will find this weird but i like simple manager like this more than newest ones... more fun, not so complicated and it's faster..I have so much memories... in even later versions few names is still in my head.. Freddy Adu, Alessio Cerci, Valeri Bojinov, Igor Akinfeev .. etc etc.. that was times.
