I'm a computer idiot I wish I could reload all the old cm games now and play. I'd spend my retirement in 90s heaven, tbf I spend my youth playing the bloody game..Collins , draper, jardel, ...yup I'm an expert on my own footi world..

Weird how some of the regens start in their mid twenties and not as youngsters in their teens.

Lovly grub. Had a really nice time viewing this and just hearing the names again .. great stuff. Might be because im in middle of nowhere on Bulgaria but seeing ol ray Wilkins.. Man i used yo be him as named manager...i wanted a youngish/ old guy .., impossible age of 38 i think and still playing , couldn't belive people that old, that decrepit vould play.. I used to love when great players retired so I could find their regens. Might have been unrealistic but it was fun - something modern FM tends to ignore. It's weird they're coming up in their mid 20's, my recollention was that they came up as youjngsters. Perhaps that was CM 3 and later.

If the players nation is not one of the selected 16mb leagues, then they tend to come back mid 20s

I always signed Maradona and Claudio Caniggia ! Amazing players and always came to your club!

Cannigia the original bad boy. Banned for first season went he...he drank too much pepsi ..I think

Always used to sign Arnor Gudjohnnson something like that we played in Iceland and was DM/S and was awesome

@@Jon007D yeah i'm gonna do another classic team on cm9798 trying do all the versions up till early fm's so when I do i will check him out again. i did run some games with maradona regen and he scored 2 goals away at barca and won 3-2

Only thing I always hated about regens was they always had no pace and stamina due to their previous age 🤨

Does anyone no how I get the version there Bayern Münich have wine red and white homedress and for example Gary Speed played for Everton and not for Newcastle. Wich version is that?

must of been ne of the cm2's Gary Speed didnt join Newcastle until the 98/99 season which was the first cm3

I talk about CM 97/98 only. The real deal. CM3 and Beyond its useless and very bad game. The games i found on the internet are modified by someone. I want the original version.

This isn't Championship manager 97-98 it's Championship manager 2. And doing this on 98 version has the opposite effect. If you have these players on your shortlist just before end of season update the old players no matter how old won't retire so you miss out on there regens

The method works the same of all versions of the cm2 series including cm9798

Not on this version. But am I right in. Saying that Maradona was on the original CM3? Which would have made it possible for him to regen?

I usually buy the Maradona regen in cm9798. I’ve edited his Determination in the editor up to 16 which I think is more realistic. In cm9798 he’s an FC so I’ve edited him to AMC now. Another great regen is Ruud Gullit and Romario too. A few seasons in lookout for Gazza and Baggio too. The key difference with cm9798 is to know that Shortlisted players never retire, so if you’re waiting for a player to retire make sure he’s not on your shortlist.

I’ve now some special editing software for cm9798 so that I can edit my players during the game! I can change ability, potential, reputation and any skill too. Can even remove longterm injuries and give my club more cash. I found this software bundled with the cm9798 game download a got a few years ago. Only just tried it out though. Today, I signed the Gullit regen (age 19) then used the new editor to change his ability and reputation to a higher rating and also reduced his injury-proneness. Also changed Ronaldo’s transfer status to ‘requested transfer’. Great fun!

The reason you're struggling to find players is because you should set your search to "based anywhere". "Foreign based" means players who are playing in a league outside of their home nation! So in basic terms you are limiting your search massively.
