Ha, ha, ha. Think. Maybe first read the Law and understand it. This is not a new law, just an amalgamation of previous ones. Sure, it is ill-thought out, but the SNP, Labour, Greens, and Lib Dems are not famed for their brains. She knew what she said was nothing unlawful as she was snot stirring up hate of anyone nor any group. You've all been had. This is largely the English Establishment whipping up hysteria to put a dent in the Scottish Independence Movement. Look at how many English folks were prosecuted under England's Hate Law. Then comment on Scotland's. Which by the way we are dealing with, and taking action to have the whole unnecessary thing repealed. Most countries have Hate Laws, are you doing anything to counter them?

No law ever stopped anyone from hating. But many laws have made people afraid to speak the truth. And without truth - there is no love - and all that remains is hatred.

The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 19 states: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes the freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas, through any media, and regardless of frontiers." Scotland is a signatory to this Declaration and the new "laws" would seem to put it in breach of the countries signed undertakings on Human Rights.

Scotland never voted to be part of the UK, that's what is known as an arranged marriage. It's just after centuries too many dafties think it is the natural state of affairs. Scotland was colonised by Westminster, and too many suffer from what's known as the Stockholm Effect to realise just what's going on. Malicious compliance. Flood the system with reports about everything that is even remotely covered by this law. No false reports but plenty of low-threshold reporting.

"Siobhian Brown, the community safety minister, admitted that a false case had been lodged under her name. Ms Brown said she was “surprised” to receive a call from the force on Monday about a complaint made under the legislation which demonstrated that “people are making fake and vexatious complaints”. Well, who'd have thought that this law would be abused? Police Scotland have been inundated with calls receiving 3,800 calls in 2 days, having to take staff off other work in order to cope. Then, there will be an influx of "Access Requests" from the general public to see if they have a Non Crime Hate Incident registered against their names - these must be dealt with within a strict time frame (which won't be achieved), leading to a formal review; the whole thing is utterly reprehensible in every way. What an utter joke.l!

Not unlike Australia and their foolish laws, under simple matters of personal integrity, I refuse to spend my hard earned money in a country passing absurd laws. Once a freedom such as speech is minimized, one will never regain given rights. It is sad that a nation like Scotland with such a hard fought history has turned its power over to a lot of soft ass fannie’s!!!

England has Hate Law too. So maybe you ought to do some proper research before getting on a plane. In fact, England has jailed people Hate Crime, look at the Stats. Free speech is not threatened in Scotland, only "Stirring up hate of individuals or groups". The hysteria surrounding this is part of the English campaign against Scottish Independence.

How can some people be considered immune from criticism?

It is a crime that Scotland _can_ pass laws without a house of Lords stopping complete insanity.

Ha, ha. Scotland is Scotland, not England. Considering the House of Lords never stopped the English Hate Law, why would they stop the Scottish version? Oh, you never knew England had a Hate Law. @@angrytedtalks We know what Independence means, and that is a government under our own Constitution. That means the government are under the People and have to abide by the Law. So, that means if the government is not doing as we wish them to, we kick them out without waiting until the next election. It also means, a government cannot pass Laws, take actions without properly consulting the People. So this daft hate law would not have been passed.
