    As an Irish-American pagan, I love that the "old ways" are still being remembered and honored.

    Love the effort you put in every year for Halloween/Samhain - important for people to realise that it had its roots in Ireland and Celtic traditions. Thanks Clare for showing us rhe festival🎃🎃

    Hello Miss Clare! Halloween is my Christmas, lol! This was great, loved seeing the old represented as well as the new. OMG, the guy in the Morrigan outfit is from Michigan (where I am, lol) We have several Halloween events in this area, as well as Autumn/Fall Festivals, but nothing quite like this. There is a place called "Old World Canterbury Village" that has maybe the most overall similar, but their festival is geared more towards kids, and there is a "Frankenfest" that also has some similarities, but is geared more towards the "scary" stuff. Thanks for sharing! Sláinte! ~Be Blessed

    I’m loving this Halloween video. I’ve been checking out all the stories by other KZreadrs and, surprise, surprise, your the only one that has mentioned that it’s an Irish thing. The others are ( like the gentleman said ) all about the American/ Halloween thing, some will mention it’s “Celtic” origin - but that’s about all. I love Halloween, but I’ve long been of the opinion that now-a-days, nobody really gets it. Thank you for not only setting the record straight, but showing us all the true Irish meaning of the festival. It was great to see it all , by the way. It looked very cool and beautiful and exciting, It held more meaning and yet was so much fun. What a blast ! I’m totally jealous, but happy that somewhere in the world, someone gets it. It made me happy just to watch it. For revealing this to me Many Many Blessings ❤, and Happy Halloween. 🎉,❤,😂.

    Here in the US, they've already shifted to Christmas commercials on the tv. Meaningless for where I live because we're still having high temperatures for the time of year. Love your videos, you journalist you! Hi to Millie!

    As the Gregorian calendar heads to New Year, I am enjoying this. Years ago I decided that my New Year was the Celtic New Year. Part because of a bit of Celtic heritage and also growing up as a farm boy it makes more natural sense as it would have back then.

    Yesssss! I love seeing these cultural type festivals over there. If I were to go to Ireland I would plan it around Halloween. Autumn is my favorite time of year. There's a feeling of renewal in there a bit. Anyway, looking forward to the other festival videos to come! 🎃🖤

    My dad turned 90 this Hallowe'en, so we've always enjoyed the holiday. We've got some Irish, but not enough to brag about. Nora Roberts wrote a trilogy about Morrigan's Cross/Dance of the Gods/Valley of Silence that I don't know if you'd find interesting or not. She got kudos for sticking close to the history/myth, and the narrator for the audio was awesome (for your next road trip). Thanks for a very interesting vid!

    I knew Halloween was originally a pagan celebration to warn off bad spirits. But I didn't know that it was originally celebrated in Ireland and Scotland by the Celtic pagan's. And I believe that the festival was called Samhain.

  • @Clisare

    @Clisare

    It's the Púca festival. Púca means "Ghost" in Irish. I included a clip where the storyteller talked about the Púca, and a screenshot of the Wiki explanation of Púca. It's really hard to explain everything from scratch and keep it entertaining so that's how I try to keep the story moving while explaining all the backstory, but it's always good to understand where I am failing to explain adequately, so thanks for your question. The festival is in Trim, Co. Meath.

    @@Clisare I'm definitely going to plan a vaca to Trim to go o Puca fest , 2024 ,it looks like so much fun . I've been to Ireland before hung out mostly west coast from Clare Co to getting lost in Enishrone , jumped a fence to pet baby sheep 🐑 ( ok I'm was being a stupid American tourist 😅 ) poor Irish farmer had no clue what to say to me . I apologized for the fence jump. He was so kind let me over to his farm to see his sheeps, and goats 🐐. Pretty country ❤️❤️❤️
