CEBU BRT UPDATE : Clearing of Osmeña Boulevard Center Island
Construction of the Package 1 of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit or Cebu BRT has significantly progressed this month, wherein clearing operations of the center islands of the Osmena Boulevard currently on-going.
Two inner lanes of Osmeña Boulevard surrounding the center island were closed first week of March to pave the way for the construction of the Cebu BRT Package 1, which has a length of 2.38 kilometers, from Cebu Provincial Capitol to Cebu South Bus Terminal.
Package 1 will have 4 stations that runs from Capitol to South Bus Terminal.
Inaugurated by President Ferdinand Bong Bong Marcos last February 27, the 16.309 billion pesos Cebu BRT is to be implemented in three packages.
Package 2 of the BRT is composed of the routes from the South Road Properties (SRP) to the CSBT and another route from Capitol to IT Park in Barangay Lahug.
Package 3 will include the routes from Talisay City to Barangay Mambaling, Talisay City to SRP, and IT Park to Barangay Talamban.
Meanwhile, Package 1 is expected to be fully operational by 2nd quarter of 2025, and could accommodate 160,000 passengers per day.
The CBRT is the first mass transport system that will be constructed in Cebu City to address the worsening traffic situation in the metro.

Its cheaper and faster to implement. Cebu need more BRT network as the default transportation.

Brad, we need monorail more. BRT is not always practical. BRT still only require more right of way of roads. We need sky trains or monorails.
