How to fix P0744 Code: Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Intermittent
A torque converter is used with automatic transmissions and uses fluid to connect the engine and transmission.
The Torque Converter Lockup Clutch mechanically locks the engine to the transmission so that they rotate at the same speed.
When the computer (TCM/PCM) detects failure of the Torque Converter to lock the engine and transmission together, it will set a P0744 code.
Repairing a transmission with a P0744 Code can be hard to do. If the transmission has high mileage it is often replaced or fully rebuilt.
Possible Causes of a P0744 Code:
Low or Dirty Transmission Fluid
Bad Torque Converter
Bad Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid
Wiring Problem
Bad Computer (TCM/PCM)

I took my car to nissan after verifying my p0744 autozone diagnostic test issue was not linked to my tcc solenoid i did an ohm test. For every solenoid and they all came up clean 6.7 ish ohms which are in line for my car’s solenoids. A 2010 nissan altima sr. The tcm does not seem to be the issue either. I have p0740 circuit malfunction and mainly as the autozone test says p0744 code. I believe it can be a bad ground. They are trying to tell me i need to either replace the entire transmission which is more then the car is worth. It is a 10+ year old car. But i verified the belt is perfectly fine and transmitting power through to the wheels. And i replaced and assured that the fluid was at the right level. And the valve body seems to be intact. Any suggestions. Cause if not then my car has to be taken to another shop where they will probably be replacing the torque converter
