    Exceptionally well built, reliable machines.Their hydraulic pumps have been known to last over 15,000 hours!

    I remember riding with my dad when he operated one of two 245's the pit owned. That's where I got interested in heavy equipment. Awesome vid.

    Thanks. Yeah you'll still find 200 series excavators around because they're rough and tough. It's a lot more simple and you don't have all the electronics to deal with.

    This is why I love CAT. Because they keep going. Because people like you love them. Because they are good to work on. Because they have great back up. I worked on a 225 not long ago and couldnt believe the travel power it had, what weapon. Thanks for the vid. Good on ya bro.

    Thanks. They're powerful machines. The 200 Series set the standard for Cat's excavators

    That's a decent video for that machine I ran one for three years and loved it, nothing could dig like a 245. The first 365's and 375's couldn't match them.

    Sweet old machines. I remember they had to be warmed up slowly in cold weather or you could strip the pump drive out. The buttons on the wobble sticks were for opening and closing the shovel bucket if it was running one. All the 200 series were tough. Thanks. Pal!

    Excellent documentary! I oiled (swamped) for a lot of 235 s on pipeline....They were excellent machines in their day...I wouldn't want to pay for the fuel or shovel tracks on 245 today though .

    A local dirt excavating company in town has a 1970s Cat 245 and it is a really nice machine, I found it easy to work on and get at the hoses, compared to some newer machines. As stated before I really enjoy your videos. Phil

    @PAmining Thanks again! Will have to get more of it working at the gold operation this summer. Got some good video of the 235C, Hitachi UH181, TD20E International, 980B all going on my end too. But I do need some new video of the 235 going at it, no doubt, we are lucky to have such a good runner.

    @JonesDieselPerforman These machines are great. We almost bought a 245B ME 3 years ago. What a machine. $15,000 gap in agreement on price made it a no-go. Our 235C will have to suffice for now. What a machine! did I say that enough? What a machine!

    I just got a quick question; I got a old 215 and there are one switch i don't really know what does, the second switch on the top; the one that looks like an "L" and it is located down below the pre-heat - starter switch. When i turn it on, a light comes on and it looks to me that it does something with the oil? And btw; great walkaround (as usual), I really love these old workhorses, they never quit, no matter what!

    One good old tuff machine in it's days...no gadgets...steel control rods and clevis pins...not much down time when you had one to operate.

    I've seen pictures and video's (never one in the flesh) of CAT 245, 245B and 245D machines. I'm pretty sure I've heard of a 245C as well; but those don't seem as popular or as common. Was there a reason for this? Never seen a 375 either but a 385BLME was nice to watch it loading 777C and D-series CAT dumptrucks.

  • @PAmining
    @PAmining12 жыл бұрын

    I have never heard of a 245C. The D was the last they built before it was replaced by the 375, and the reason why the D's aren’t as common is because they didn't have a long production run.
