We rebuilt one of those jewels in our shop back in 2015. Next to the 12H, it’s a hulk! I’d like to walk that yard and see all the other iron you have there! Thanks for the review!

Awesome looking and intimidating machine. I've never been next to one but by looking at this one you can really appreciate the massive size of this very important piece of equipment on the mining field. Thank you for covering this machine in your series. 👍

Thanks for another outstanding equipment documentary. I learned a lot from this one. When I was in the construction industry quite a few years ago, operators would always say that the hardest machine to operate is the articulated grader. I did not realize just how many controls the operator has to utilize. I would imagine there is a fairly long learning curve to master a grader like this CAT 16G. I’m curious to know if the newer models say 2015 - 2023 feature most of the controls mounted on joysticks.

Bad ass video man!!..does it ever bring back memories!!!..those old 16 G’s were monsters and were remarkably tough!…they were just so power and quick…you could plow off 30’ of road top so quick and they were surprisingly easy to control!…I saw those 16G’s do things that a D8 couldn’t…my hood buddy who was a superstar grader man could rip rock out of ditches with it and he could gravel a road with 22 belly dumps on him!..she never laboured once!..just begged for more!…I ran lots of 14G’s and when I got to run the 16’s it always amazed me the production difference of the two…I can only imagine the surprise an old hand operator from the 60’s running old straight frame 16’s got when he sat in a 16G for the first time!..it’s probably been 15 years since I got the opportunity to run a 16G and if I was offered the opportunity to run one today it would be hard to pass up!..great machine and great video!!

Thanks man! What's always amazed me is the operators that are skilled grader guys! It's amazing what you can do with one of you know what your doing. I would say the 16s were more popular for large construction. Thanks for sharing the memories too :) Peace!

I'd love to shine a haul road up with that baby but all we had was a 120 but it was a good machine. More than likely I'd be in the old Euc backdump though. You know how it is. And I'd sure like the old school lever setup over the wobble stick stuff now. And a 3406? WOW! Happy week to you and Thanks and God Bless

They're pretty cool!! I wouldn't consider myself an "operator" but I can swab a quarry haul road or move snow off to the side... I've racked up a few hours on a 16g but nothing to retire on

@@PAmining Hydraulic Front Wheel Assist That is how a lot of older farm tractors are referred to since the early ones with front axle drive assist used hydraulic fluid and wheel motors rather than an actual differential and drive axle like they all have had for the last few decades. I live on a dirt road that the country grades. They use Champion, Volvo and Deere graders here and at least some have the HFWA feature which helps them in winter time snow removal/grading.

great video!, this grader looks much more difficult to run compared with bulldozers, backhoes, and dumptrucks as it has 8-10 levers next to the steering wheen then the usual 3-4 foot pedals and 4-6 hand levers to the side, and who the heck decided to put the engine guages BEHIND the driver?? you would screw your neck up trying to read them while in operation! . please do a video on a steamroller, Ive never seen a videon on those. THANKS!!!
