Catching Prawns For Bass Fishing Bait Made Simple

Prawns as Bass Fishing Bait is abit of a cheat code when the conditions are right but they're also a great hook bait for a number of other species such as Wrasse, Pollack and Smoothhounds to name a few.
Fished under a float or on a running ledger they are easy to use and if you know how and where also EASY to catch.
Now I have limited mobility, if you're reading this as a first time viewer the clue is in the name "The Amputee Angler" so for me using a push net or foraging about in the rock pools for them is simply a non starter. So I catch them using a drop net OR at times a prawn trap in my local harbour and creeks here at Newhaven East Sussex.
Simply baited and left for a short period of time you have all the Prawns and Shrimps you need and all without getting wet or slipping on dangerous rocks in chest high wader and welly boots.

Yeah that’s the old school way of doing them my grandma showed me how to do that as a kid but they’re are fine in a marina but too light in any tide that’s why the bigger traps work but the drop nets out fish them massively and are much easier 👌🏻

@@theamputeeangler yes mate Hailsham Mushroom farm main lake there’s a few in there but you need to pick them out and avoid where possible the commons , they swim faster, feed differently and often the darker dorsal thin gives them away. Like jaws 🤣. Get a still day and feed the lake for a while they will turn up, just don’t start fishing till you see them and don’t get too tempted by the commons

@carperblue nice one thank you! Been following that page for ages as they say you can drive up but it’s been to boggy the last few months so I haven’t bothered as walking in knee deep mud isn’t my thing 😂 I shall give it a go next week appreciate the advice mate

I got a cheap crab net of temu (one of the long cylindrical ones) 4£ I think, best 4£ ever spent for free bait :)
