Ahh…see…there’s where you’re wrong my friend. For The Lords of Shadow Timeline IS in fact Canon in its own right! Although it is completely different from the original two timelines, being a entirely new Universe altogether with its own unique history and lore whilst also referencing and bearing parallels to the previous ones!

Leon Belmont left behind his church and title to save his fiance Sara, only to find out after defeating the five monsters guarding Walter's room, that she'd already been bitten. She decided to give her soul up to create the Vampire Killer and he was forced to kill her. After finally defeating Walter, Mathias (his best friend) showed up and revealed that he used him to become a vampire in order to spite God. All of this happened in a single night.

I hope Simon realized that Alucard was his father, Trevor....It makes the cutscene 'Separate Ways ' more poignant. (Cue the Journey song of the same name)

34:33 I kinda prefer the expressions in the 3DS version here. In that version, Dracula smirked instead of snarling, and when he says “it’s been a long time”, his face drops into a sympathetic frown, like he really did miss his son in all the time that he didn’t see him. And in 38:56, when Alucard says “Your actions will be guided, manipulated”, his eyebrows are raised instead of lowered in a scowl, like he was terrified of how powerful fate’s grip on him and Simon was.

Duke Fleed Actarus have to disagree with you. The original timeline is dark also. For in lament of innocence, leon belmont the first of the belmont clan had to kill his betrothed to make the vampire killer whip complete, also his best friend mathais cronqvist became dracula due to him losing his wife elizabetha.

would have been nice to show how he came to be accompanied by the souls of his companions... missed opportunity here...

Gabrial/Dracula black hair, Marie black hair, Trevor black hair, Trevor with a redheaded sypha belnades seems to produce a redheaded Simon, at last check sypha was a witch/sorceress and was blonde in the origional series. But when the games were made Castlevania judgement shows Simon as being a combination of fair hair or redhead, not exactly fair to the series.

@@BelmontClan I wouldn't count Judgement as a source of canon. The only other game that had Simon with red hair was Castlevania Chronicles for the PS1, another retelling of Castlevania 1 from the NES. Hell, Super Castlevania 4 for the SNES had Simon with black hair.

They wanted to make him look rougher. They didn't want to give Simon his traditional pretty boy look, so they gave him a beard and scars to compliment the barbarian design. I also like how they gave Sypha a red hair to explain who Simon got his hair color from. He is mama's boy through and through.

I watched 4 seasons of the Castlevania anime. It was cool and badass.

okay so. let's say the whole LoS story makes sense. Dracula aka Gabriel Belmont came back to life again somehow after being stabed with a vampire killer. alucard did not tell simon they're relatives so the belmont keep on breeding acursed children. then we met Víctor belmont who lets kill himself by a satan accolyte while trevor witness his grand son's (x2?) demise. in the end Dracula and his son remain alive, ready for more creepy adventures in the modern mortal world. a world without powerful lords like the Death and Satan. no doubth they'll meet Víctor's son or perhaps grand son at some future point..

There's only one Vampire Killer, and the one Simon was using was not it. It was another combat cross that wasn't nearly as powerful. But yeah... the story DOES make sense when you look at it from a top-down perspective.

Still don’t know why there’s so many games of this even though Trevor died at the end

the history doesnt make much sence, all was more or less good untill alucard last part, when he was in the bring of death the mirror showed him gabriel's past, then he knew that he was his father and then he was revived by gabriel's blood, but when he wakes up he still whants to kill him?why? doesnt he know that his mother was killed by a lord of shadow that was a former founder of the brotherhood?why not thell his son the truth? and some other questions floded in my mind.

Because his father transformed in something he loathes, a monster that needs blood an to suck on the lives of others to survive. He still pities his father and accepts he wasn't a bad man, but he wants to end this for good. The next game explains this better. Why not tell his son? because he doesn't want his some to be attached to his cursed destiny or feel the same way he felt about his own father. That is shown when he told him to trow the necklace he gave to him when he was little. You just have to pay attention to details.

The cutscenes kind of suck but the story is nice

Unpopular opinion: this is better than the netflix series. The animation may be terrible, but here Dracula is a lot more complex than "I'm sad my wifey dead" and there's no gross displays of racism

i have to agree with you that with age you start to sympathize with this version of the Castlevania timeline as you see it closer to an actual human story. I myself being a giant Castlevania fan have to admit that the Lords of Shadow timeline is more intresting because it doesn't have that "oh dracula is evil because he wants revenge on humanity, lets all kill him" flavor. This story is much MUCH darker and more mature and relatable. It's more phylosophically complex in my opinion and more compelling. It makes you care for the characters more since they actually have a personality outside of their title. The netflix adaption, however, is just very different. Being tied to the original story it has a different atmosphere, more japanese/ anime-ish. I prefer the Lords of Shadow continuity, with this game being my favorite, hoping for LOS 3!

Raven Redfern true! This timeline states that Simon's parents died when he was six. In LOS2 it says he never knew his parents.

Now that I understand this, I prefer this than the anime. 😅We need a Netflix reboot. It's because of the main character backgrounds I've read that confused me so much I had to come here and watch the game. Such a huge character deviance in the anime. It's unecessary to unfollow the original.

Actually the Netflix series is much closer to the original story than this is. This is a reboot that changed many character backstories like making Trevor the son of Dracula instead of a decendant of Leon Belmont who was a friend of Mathias who became Dracula in the original Canon. I enjoyed playing as Dracula and LoS2 is one of my favourite Castlevania games but the original Canon storyline that the animated series follows is a lot better.

I think his Father didn't want to burden him with what happened to his Father. But I hope Simon realized that Alucard was his dad, protecting him with everything step he took within his Grandfather's Baronial home.
