a losing of faith is what happened. Paladin doubted him and Dracul slapped down receipts (aka saying the same prayer alongside him) and paladin went 'ah shit.'

It's really hard not to root for Gabriel/ Dracula, a hero who got screwed over by everyone until he landed where he was. Yet despite being hated and betrayed by his beloved son, he still loves his family deeply and is willing to put his faith and fate in his son's master plan. And bless Alucard for comming up with such a brilliant plan to save everyone and avenge his family.

Robert Carlyle as Gabriel Belmont is one of the most underrated video game castings ever ! He is so great ! Despite the fact that Konami has become one of the most infamous companies they managed to deliver so many great games, it is such a shame that this never translated into the sales Konami hoped ! @@ragingsaviorkami9862 Why not? I thought it was ballsy of the developers to flip a story that had gone stale such as the classic games and flip it on it's head. The games were a refreshing retelling of a story that like I said had gone stale. I mean I was 9 years old when I first played Castlevania 3 back in the 80's, and after 30+ years they kept on rehashing the same story over and over again. Castlevania needed to be rebooted. Sadly while I enjoyed all three games in the Lords of Shadow series it never met the high sales Konami wanted. Thus the Netflix series which I also enjoyed. Hopefully Konami will hire a developer to create a new game based on the Netflix series.

@@Nolimit_Lou Yeah you might be right. I haven't been a fan as long as you, so I can't speak from that perspective. I know recently there was a crossover DLC with Castlevania in some other game, also in the whole Metroidvania style, and people loved it. And they love the Netflix series, so I really don't know what's the deal with the new games not coming out in years now. Hopefully, as you said, we might soon get another one, possibly based on the Netflix series (which, again, doesn't deviate too much from the original story).

@@ragingsaviorkami9862 Yes, while not 100% the Netflix series is more closer to the classic games than Lords of Shadow story wise. Like I said I am fan of almost anything Castlevania. Why Konami did not take advantage of the resurgence for a new Castlevania game perplexes me. A new game done in the classic style but based on the Netflix series would be a hit both for new and old fans.

LOVE the little details in this game. For example look closely at the Knight's expression, when he gets the cross glowing - his brows lift slightly and the corners of his lips curl upward, he thinks that now he has an advantage, only to express open panic, when Dracula is not fazed by the Holy power. Or how Alucard moves his hand, when he talks to Dracula, as if he wants to touch Dracula but is unsure whether to do it or not. And the voice actors' work! Like Dracula's (Carlyle's) whisper "Zobek has the Vampire Killer". It felt more like a live acting and not a game at all, so many emotions laced perfectly into their voices. IMO this reboot is a very decent piece of work. Yes, maybe it is a fanfiction, but it's a very good fanfiction.

A year late, but yes. This is how you sell your story. I don't even care how absurd the whole thing is with getting stabbed to be put to sleep so you can fight Satan. It's a great scene, and it makes the whole ride more enjoyable.

I love the way you pay attention to detail, the voice acting indeed was top notch as was the movements. Again this is a sleeper hit of a series, but all the crybaby purists had to shit on it. Meanwhile we got people gobbling up the hot garbage and calling it 'masterpieces' in other game series. This game didnt deserve all the shit and salt thrown at it. I legit feel like all the purists are like the Brotherhood, Gabriel became Dracula and they couldnt accept that so they threw him out in the cold even though he still lurks to protect humanity from Hell and it's army. (That's what I feel happened at the end of the game, Dracula opted to keep going and if the game had gotten sequels after this I feel he woulda still been protecting others but in secret since...he's so damn tired..you can feel that in his frustration when he asks Alucard 'you want me to save this damn world AGAIN?' plus when he clenches his fist like 'yea we doing this again..yipeee'

This has to be one of the most powerful scenes I have ever witnessed in all the games I have played. Alucard's character in this series of the Castlevania revealed a man who went through so much and yet strives to still protect God's children, and then there's Dracula. Through The Mirror of Fate and this, and even as Gabriel Belmont in the first game a man that has walked in blood, darkness, and sin for centuries and now choosing to walk the path of redemption. All that and more wrapped in this wonderful scene where you don't see Dracula and Alucard at the end...you see Trevor and Gabriel Belmont...son and father. One of my favorite game series ever.

Tialen Mitchell I'm thinking you never played mirror of fate. it was the second Lords of Shadow game in mirror of fate it showed that Marie gave birth to a child and a lineage that were suppose to protect humanity and "destroy" gabriel. Gabriel and Maries child was Trevor Belmont. when you get to the final boss fight with Trevor you fight gabriel. SPOILER. Trevor Fails. Gabriel doesnt know Trevor is his son until hes laying on the floor dyeing. A magic Mirror shows gabriel the past and tries to help Trevor by giving him some of his blood. thus becoming Alucard the son of Dracula. the lords of shadow games all tie into each other

This is the only Castlevania I played and I enjoyed every moment of the game. The graphics is insanely ahead of its time and it doesn't even lag or frameskip with just a simple 1GB GPU hardware.

Despite what most people think, i really loved this game! The dialogues especially were awesome!

This and his reunion with Marie are my favorite in the this trilogy

Richard Madden, Robert Carlisle, Jason Isaacs and Patrick Stewart. Wow. This game deserved so much more. The first game was incredible.

Phenomenal voice acting in this scene and just acting in general

Last time I played LOS2 was probably 7-8 years ago and I totally forgot the whole story, but when Alucard said "when I put my hand on your shoulder" @8:54 the whole story line came flooding straight back to me and transported me to a younger self, I got serious chills and had to take it easy for a couple of minutes.

The final boss could be Galamoth as he's an underused antagonist in Castlevania lore, wanting to dethrone Dracula but never playing a major role. Well, besides Castlevania Judgement. To me, good and evil are not points of views. There is a higher moral good and everyone is confused in their attempts to reach it. Insufficient love is always at the heart of evil. It blinds people, causing them to see only the evil in others, unaware of their own hypocrisy.

TheHolyDarkness: indeed, I have always tried to walk a so called good path, but I have made mistakes. If people found out about a person's faults, they are waaay too quick to judge. Then again, so was I... in any case I really don't judge anything anymore. I just live my life the way I want to, currently jobless, but still reading books about whatever I want to learn. It's kinda funny the stuff I learn from reading history books particularly. All the patterns from the past are actually in the present time.

The only thing i would nitpick about this scene is the fact that they just took a well know name from a, and deservely so, well know weapon from Symphony of The Night, the Crissaegrim, instead of creating a cool ass name. Hell, even the original Alucard had no inspiration for a cool name for his own weapon, the Alucard Spear.

The intro of the game was phenomenal and had so much promise but after that it dwindled down badly. This cutscene was great! The ending however was crap and so was the last boss... just a mess... so much potential though.

This game doesn’t get much love. I enjoyed the way they retconned Dracula’s tale.

Is like he is tired to being the evil one, but he knows if he abandon that position others worse than him will follow

Ved Dova my fave scene from MOF,when Alucard recognised Simon in the castle and asked himself "what is he doing here??" I was like "searching for troubles,like his dad" ;-):-D:-D:-D

I honestly loved playing this game. The only downside was the ending which was too sudden, it left e empty because it ended too quick.

I've been a Castlevania fan since the early 90's (I was very little), yet this (LoS) has to be my favorite storyline of all. It makes perfect sense that the true reason why only a Belmont can destroy Dracula, is because Dracula is a Belmont himself; the first one. He had to become this monster to save humanity from the Forgotten One and ultimately, from Satan. No coincidence that his name is "Gabriel", like the archangel of God who sent Satan back to Hell. I also like that this is the first Castlevania in which the main character is Dracula, not another Belmont savior. EDIT: Oh, and the fact that Alucard is actually Trevor Belmont, is just brilliant.

@@jinx1987 The netflix show is based off the original castlevania 3 which takes place in the og timeline where Trevor and Alucard are seperate characters.

LoS MoF and LoS2 is based in an alternate reality. Of course the original series is canon but this new series is saying what if the Belmonts were to be Vampires. This is basically a good example of Blood against Blood but also a good way of reuniting as father and son. Saving the world from Satan is a brand new ball game for the Castlevania series.... tbh idek what the hell I'm saying. I just think this is an alternate reality of Castlevania.

Maikeru Noshijōka I think there is a non canon Castlevania with Sonia Belmont who hooks up with Alucard and had a baby Belmont. So in essence, it woud make the Belmont part vamp. :D

Indeed, you would be right with Sonia; she's from one of the Game Boy games in the Castlevania series. @Maikeru Noshijōka That's a great way to go about perceiving this series, as in the realms of a What If scenario, changing a single detail from the original can have a massive impact on how the rest of the retelling unfolds. Even with the original Castlevania series, Dracula is such a badass that Satan is practically ignored in the entire series, and Death is his personal and loyal servant/side-kick. Both Original and LoS are great, rich in lore to sink your teeth into.

Dracula isn't really a villain here either. Gabriel still lost his way but he was always meant to be the "good" version of Dracula who eventually sought redemption, as opposed to the original continuity.

Man this game was so good. Such an emotional and nuanced story. Wish I could wipe my memory just like Gabriel and expierience it all over again.

Am I the only one that got star wars vibes from this conversation between father and son?

And this is why Robert Carlyle is one of my favorite Actors both in Voice and in person.

That part at the end of the memory with the enchantment is always badass and this game despite people not liking it had a great story, very tragic and yet very cool. Love all Castlevania games

***** Akumajou means Demon Castle, so "Demon Castle Dracula" is the original name of Castlevania, and honestly the title makes more sense than "Castlevania" when translated.

V Guyver Better title than Castlevania, since they took a long time explaining what was Castlevania. But you know "Oh, no... It says demon in it. I like to think Gabriel's/Dracula's son, Trevor/Alucard, is the bridge to his redemption. A sign that God hasn't given up on him. *Moment 1* Gabriel/Dracula: "I was their most devoted warrior, a champion of light, but I fell. Fell into darkness. And now, I am feared as the 'Prince of Darkness'. Ironic, don't you think?! The mighty Zobek hides from me like the scared rat he is. Even Satan himself is too afraid to leave the pits of Hell and fight me! But if I die now, Alucard., they will simply take my place. Evil will prevail. It is the natural order. The world is like this." *Snaps the weapon in two and tosses it down.* "Abandon all hope!" Trevor/Alucard: "No! What if there was a way to destroy their evil forever? To free mankind from tyranny? If they believed you dead, they would come out into the light once more, would they not?" *Moment 2* Gabriel/Dracula: "You're asking me, to free the world from Satan AGAIN! To sacrifice everything for humanity, AGAIN!" Trevor/ Alucard: "Yes, I am! Within this last moment, you will hold both Zobek and Satan within your grasp." These two moments show not only Trevor/Alucard refusing to give up on his father, but God refusing to give up on his greatest champion of light, considering he'd been abandoned to despair and darkness for so long. Trevor/Alucard was almost like God's messenger in a way.

Fun fact, the Enochian that Satan speaks is just gibberish. Enochian is believed to be the language of the angels that was originally passed on to man, so it is real, but that's just gibberish sadly.

Oddly enough, I love this take on Castlevania.
