At least here he didn’t give up and let himself be killed.

I love how Trevor is a tragic character: -Is related to a supernatural being. -Fate is not helping him by any means (unlike Simon) -he didn't have a pleasant end before becoming Alucard (killed by his own father). -He was taken away from his own mother. -His failure caused the death of his wife and his son raised with... Rather unpleasant people (look at Simon: full of scars, not a great childhood). -He transformed in the very thing he swore to destroy, and unlike Anakin, he didn't choose that (still continuing with cruel fate).

Gabriel/Dracula had it worse. All he truly wanted was to be with his family. But he ended up: -Killing everyone he cared about. -Got screwed over by the Brotherhood, lost everything and spiraled into despair. -Died a painful lonely death while transforming into a vampire and trying to adjust to the power of the Forgotten one. -Killing his own son. (That was when he finally snapped and vowed to exterminate mankind) -Was doomed to fight his descendants and very possibly had to kill them. -Had no way to end his immortality (Had teamed up with Zobek just so he could die) Both his Chaos and Void power was the physical manifestation of his endless suffering, his rage and pain.

The brilliance of this scene is not what the player learns (which is still awesome) but what Dracula learns. The range of expressions are wide and brilliant.

True. Even after he lost everything that mattered to him he still had to be involved with the forgotten one to protect humanity and the only way to win was to become a monster. A tragic fate.

it really proves that line I read once. "The only people who can become Shuras (symbolic beings of anger) are those who care, who love, who sympathise the most." so much feels for Gabriel. oh and to anyone interested, this is from shura's wrath. i recommend it.

The ending is part of why I actually like the Lords of Shadow series, while the original Castlevania only talked about the tragedy the characters faced, it's here that you actually see and feel the pain, especially Dracula's. Though I would've liked less cartoony cutscenes, this scene actually made me feel his sorrow. That's a good story in my eyes.

+Larry Crane Lords of Shadow 1 is (personal opinion) the best game ever. I still remember the continuous emotion it stirred out of me, when I played and completed it time ago. The original Castlevania series does let us see Dracula's pain. He was originally a human named Mathias Cronqvist. His wife was taken from him early on, and the loss poisoned him against God. An entire game was devoted to showing how a good man was soured not only against God, but against the very notion of love itself. He came to despise creation. His wife later reincarnated as the woman that would be Alucard's mother, but the humans killed her after she was found guilty of witchcraft despite that she had only used basic medical practices to aid others. Losing her a second time killed whatever small piece of humanity he had left -- the last of Mathias, leaving only Dracula.

Doctopus Lament of Innocence was on the PS2, dipshit, and was one of the better 3D titles for Castlevania.

The first cutscene's dialogue makes me actually cry more than the one from the ending. "But you did know her. You knew her very well. I'll tell you what her name was - right after I cut it onto your heart".

thats sad....that when the most powerful boss in the game is the protagonist son,and when the boss finds out and cries...truly hurts

If I may speak freely, out of all the Draculas in the castlevania universe, I like this one the most. All the other Draculas just continued to speak of being mad at either the world or God or just wanted to destroy everything. But we really never knew why. This Dracula we can truly connect with and understand the why, sure his games could have been better, but it's his character that pulls me towards him.

7:52 I'll understand finding the in game models to be better than the cutscene models but personally, regardless of either one I just appreciate little details like facial expressions. Much like how Gabriel/Dracula's expression slowly changes here as he listens to Trevor's last words.

Whoever cannot see the absolute brilliance of the LoS storyline/retelling is insane. I look at it as how the two current Star Trek timelines can coexist with one another. LoS, all of it, is a masterpiece, and this is from a lifelong Castlevania fan, since C1.

I'm a huge fan of the story! While Dracula has claimed he has no humanity within him as he is full of rage, his rage comes at the price of everything he lost through the betrayal towards him. When I saw the end of LoS, I freaked out! I remember that when Satan disappeared, something had left Gabriel. Had it not been for Laura, Gabriel would have died. Dracula despite all of his darkness and anger still holds a special place in his heart for Marie and the man he knows to be his son. He is still just as human as the next, only he is immortal.

Dracula: Look how I massacred my boy

Despite of the dislike of some people about CV:LoS. This is still by far the only Dracula who pwns the Belmonts for killing Trevor, Simon got pwned by him in the middle of the second battle and this one didn't really managed to destroy him and Gabriel only used the basics of his Vampiric powers and faked his death at the end of the fight, he also pwned Victor Belmont. Maybe his Belmont bloodline brings him the advantage to win against his own clan.

Fallen Belmont Just ignore the dislikes about this masterpiece. And by masterpiece I mean the Lords of Shadow Saga; especially the first One. My top 5 is: 1) Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1; 2) Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2; 3) Castlevania Mirror of Fate; 4) Castlevania Aria of Sorrow; 5) Super Castlevania 4. I too cannot understand how can certain people dislike this game. Well... It is not our problem.

I have to agree. Dracula, like Darth Vader, is a really emotional character.

One of my favorite boss fights in any game although it was one of the easiest compared to the other boss fights in mirror of fate.. The music in the background made it feel epic

I’m not gonna lie i saw this coming because we played as Alucard before Trevor therefore I foresaw that he would eventually become a vampire but I was still saddened by the end because I didn’t expect it to end like this

I wish these Mirror of fate stories had been the sequals to the original lords of shadow. Something similar to the alucard dlc. Instead of playing as dracula, beating up mechs, killing demons with machine guns and getting one shot by those huge dudes with guns.

Which castlevania was it that was for N64 and there was a character called cornell who could transform into a werewolf?

I like this Dracula the most, but after all Gabriel has been through Konami doesn't give the character justice. While the first game was amazing, this and LOS2 seems like a joke. Los2 does have its moments, but overall it's a mediocre and generic hack and slash game. I think it's difficult for Konami to make an interesting game where you play as a nearly omnipotent being. He did absorb the power of light and dark, all the Lords of shadow, laura and the forgotten one afterall.

It could have been cool to allow the player to keep all their abilities from the first game plus some extra abilities that come with being Dracula. Then the game could give the player all kinds of really powerful abilities whilst pitting them against exponentially growing threats including entire armies that he can dispatch using massively powerful area-of-effect attacks that wipe out hundreds of enemies at once. Maybe you get health by impaling the heads of your enemies? As the game continues the process can be made easier and even automated slightly!

3 years late, so you might already know this by now, but Gabriel/Dracula has always had the same VA through the entirety of the Lords of Shadow trilogy, that being Robert Carlyle.

Right up there with The Legend of Dragoon for best ending ever, for me.

This game brings down the worlds Mightiest chosen of God and turns him into the world Mightiest Prince of Darkness. This game is truly cold to the good, and spoiling of the Wicked xD

good game, very underrated! this is the same game the gave bad reviews smh I even loved the 3ds version . the only negative about this game was alucard's level, I didn't like how the gave him a whip instead if a sword that just screams foul, I think they got lazy on Alucard's level. other than that very good game! my personal thoughs, i like each of the three games of the Lords of Shadow saga (even though i have play only the first and the second, not the one for nintendo 3DS). the story was of my liking, a great destined to save the world from a darkness born from other heroe of ligth only to become a most powerfull darkness whit no equal. i specialy like because, only some Castlevania game you can play whit Drácula (if you only count the ones that have Soma Cruz as main character along whit others). i do want to know the name of the OST from the part when Gabriel was trying to revive his son, could tell what is the name?. now about the game, the one i play the most is the second one (i would have like for bein capable to use the Dragon form of Drácula to figth either The Leviathan or Lucifer). thanks for the video.

Same here, it's an ending that actually humanizes the villain instead of making him just being the cruel and monstrous creature that he claims to be.

And then the brotherhood got absolutely shat on by legions of demons after Trevor died

the in-game and cutscene appearance are both quite good, but the difference is pretty jarring it's like the cutscenes were animated by telltale

If im not mistaken this is not the ending. Then you start playing as simon to fight dracula with alucard

I like this game

Trevor was just being an asshole by not answering directly to who he was. This could have been avoided but trevor tried to have it his way.

I didn't like the fact that the story had a huge gap between this game and los2, they don't mention any other Belmonts other than Victor in los2
