*TO ALL THOSE WONDERING ABOUT THE MISSING DISPLAY ELEMENTS AFTER THE MOD* This isn't really avoidable unfortunately. Because this module (or more specifically the LCD in this watch) isn't built with a mind to having a timer function operational, there's no need for the LCD to have any form of purpose-designed indication for the auto-repeat for the timer. So what Casio have done is repurpose that 'pin' of the LCD's data connection to use as the always-on elements of the screen like the dividers and the SNZ ALM SIG, and make it always on, so those elements are always visible. Having things like this be built into the LCD itself is cheaper than doing it any other way so it's understandable why Casio went this route for this watch. If you enable the timer, those segments disappear, and the reason they reappear later on in the video (when he is adjusting the setting of the timer) is because they're now effectively back to being the job of the indicator for auto-repeat on the timer. If you go into the timer's adjustment mode and press the light button (which would toggle the auto repeat), presto all the missing display elements appear. But only while you're in timer mode. And only if you have auto-repeat enabled. On a watch that's supposed to have the timer, that pin would work an indicator on-screen that would tell you, while in the timer mode, that auto repeat is on. All the fixed display elements would probably either be printed onto the watch crystal, or be fixed in place some other way, like be an actual plastic divider, like on the Casio Royale for example. It doesn't bother me especially I must admit, but at least we know why now.

I also have put the little spring with the large side inside the watch before closing the movement/module and it doesn't get lost that way. Yep, weird how that little spring can completely mute a watch. It's also weird given how small electronic components keep getting on a seemingly daily basis, that they don't just find a way to incorporate the ground somewhere else like actually on the PCB, and get rid of that spring altogether.

Because of marketing. Because of money. Say a guy doesn't care about the style nor the color of a watch. All he cares about is functionality. Okay, then he has two options of watches to purchase. Let's just say for example that, Watch (A) costs $20 but doesn't have a timer. Watch (B) has a timer, but costs $30. The only difference between watch (A) and watch (B) is that one has a timer and the other one doesn't, which is the reason for the $10 dollar difference. Everything else is EXACTLY the same. Okay, the guy really wants a timer because he needs that function for whatever reason. He will end up spending the extra $10 for watch (B) just so he can have a timer on his watch. BAM! ! ! ! Casio just made an easy extra $10 bucks from watch (B) that cost them the exact same amount to make watch (A). Yes, $10 dollars is not much of a difference, which is why the customer would not really hesitate to buy watch (B) just to get the timer. But now, multiply that $10 by a million customers for example. How much extra profit did Casio just make just for disabling a simple feature that the watch already has to begin with? 🤷 That's why, it all just comes down to $$. A marketing strategy 🤔 This video was created to override that marketing strategy. You save those "$10" but you need to do some work. Not many people are willing to go through the hassle, so they'll just end up spending the extra "$10" and call it a day.

Because "marketing", that's why. Those modules haven't been changed/improved for decades. Those things literally cost nothing. So how are they going to sell 100 different models that are absolutely identical inside? - How about we remove the timer from this model shdsgf82767, Yamado-san? - Brilliant idea! And from this model 2765sgvjhgv3276 we remove the alarm! - You are so smart, Tanaka-san! Can I try this? Let's see ... How about we limit the stopwatch capacity to an arbitrary number of ... 45 minutes for no reason at all? The possibilities are infinite here! That's a Casio watch in a nutshell. An infinite list of cripples combo. E.g. I really wanted gshock 5600. But the functionality is just rificulous for the price. It has all buttons installed anyway. Doh.

The spring is the connector to complete the beeper circuit. Also check if you have put it in the proper hole. And, make sure the beeper on the back plate is not damaged (scratched up). There is a very thin conductive coating on the beeper attached to the backplate, which can be damaged.
