well how much sap did you get! don't leave your audience hangin. also, do you have to boil the sap etc?

You don't have to boil Maple sap to make it safe to consume, but you do if you want to make syrup out of it.

I'm in Oregon, and I have ten 200-foot Douglas Firs in my backyard. One of them drips sap badly down the side of the tree from about 10 feet up. The sap makes a mess everywhere, and when the kids step in it, cleaning it off their shoes is nearly impossible. Is there any way I can put a tap in the spot and collect the sap, so I can dispose of it? Thanks for your help. It's a gooey mess. Regards from Oregon, Mark
