Carpenters - Look To Your Dreams

Музыка

"Blame blind yesterday for taking dreams away..."
===========================
Written in 1974 at Karen's request, this song was not recorded until 1978, but then was relegated to the A&M vaults because Richard didn't think it was commercial enough to be included on an album. In 1983, following the death of Karen, the song was finally completed and released on the "Voice of the Heart" album in October 1983. At the conclusion of the song, the piano continues the melody, implying that though The Voice has been silenced, the music continues.
This is said to have been Agnes Carpenter's (Richard and Karen's mom) favorite song.
===========================
LOOK TO YOUR DREAMS
To say I'm romantic
would be quite semantically true
But make-believe passion
has fallen from fashion's milieu
It's understandable
why we're a little confused
It's asking for trouble
just watching the six o'clock news
But for a moment,
all things aside
Look to yourself,
Somewhere inside.
Look to your dreams
Don't they still seem worthwhile?
Don't they still seem in style?
Aren't you glad they're still there?
Look to your dreams
There's a need for them now
When the world has us down
Aren't you glad they're around?
Once conceived, once believed
Fantasy's reality's childhood
And like a seed, visions need constant care
Like a child would
We should
Look to our dreams
We can still make the stars
We can still break the bars
We have built here on earth
Look to your dreams
And tomorrow may be better for you and me
The future may say
Blame blind yesterday
for taking dreams away
They could mean more than they seem ...

No person is perfect, just as no family is perfect. I love the coloration of this video and the images remind us of the good things in life. God has given us one life to live and it is up to us to see the good in life and be grateful for each day He has given us. The Carpenter music will live on forever and I hope future generations will love this music with the same affection as when it began in 1969.

Given her health condition at age 32, it may have taken years before she was healthy enuff2 bear children; possibly longer if a Dr had diagnosed her Heart. That would've put her into mid 30s or beyond? Not so good.

@@bruschmidt9943 Maybe not so. Her heart was not the problem. Her autopsy cited it as being normal, no visible signs of damage. As per her death certificate, Karen had lapsed into a Hyperosmolar Coma ... a diabetic coma. Her reported blood sugar was an unbelievable 1110! It was this that shut down her autonomous nervous system and signals to her heart, which was why she couldn't be resuscitated in the ER. No one has explored this fact. They keep saying she died from anorexia when it feels more like a case of malpractice.

I love this song. Karen's voice was and always will be THE BEST voice ever. This song makes me cry sometimes. I feel bad for the way she was treated by her brother, her mother, and even the guys at A&M. I was listening to the song "You Light Up My Life" and some of the words fit Karen so perfectly. Phrases like, "So many nights. I'd sit by my window, Waiting for someone To sing me his song. So many dreams, I've kept deep inside me, Alone in the dark,Rolling at sea, Adrift on the waters. Finally, a chance To say, "Hey, I love you," Never again To be all alone." She was a marvelously personable lady, that I had the wonderful chance to meet and talk to. I miss Karen and the music she would have made and I feel like I will see her again someday. She is the best ever. Rest in peace Karen, you are still sorely missed.

The difference in her voice at the beginning of her career (Ticket To Ride LP) and the end of her career is substantial. We just have to appreciate what she did while she was here. She did a lot of good and is STILL having a positive impact. What she did do outlives her and attention to her suffering has helped to save many lives. That voice of hers is also quite healing, blood pressure lowering and soothing. That's quite a legacy for someone who only lived for 32 years.

Regarding Karen's voice, Richard always said, "the money's in the basement." Meaning her lower vocal notes.

I don't know what can I do to stop crying for you Karen... I never forgot you since I met you a long time ago (1973)...In that time I feel in love with you...I was just a teenager and since that time I have not love anyone else in my life... I suffer everytime I hear you singing.... Someday I will go where you are Karen.... Wait for me my love ..... please wait for me Karen....
