😢47 years listening to this beautiful song...incredible...I'm 60... imposible...

1st date with my wife to watch this movie, we fell in love ,we marred, have our baby born. Now that she is passed away. On the funeral ceremony, I used this song to ended up the ceremony. I missed her alot and I love her very much,hope someday somewhere, we will meet again. We make a promise, we will be husband and wife again.

The best song I ever heard but not singing DiDi Conn but Kacey Cisyk. (Kvitka Cisyk) Died in 1998. Came from Lviv in Ucrain. SUPER SONG. Listen also to A woman in love by Kacey Cisyk on You Tube!!

What really makes me cry was the end of the movie. After she says goodbye to her father, you see her driving her car to NYC while the song plays. On the side of the screen is the Billboard Top 100, with the song moving up the chart as it plays.

I still remember sitting in the dark theater watching this scene, the words, the melody and THOSE VIOLINS coming in! The music went right through me! Never forgotten that moment and where the movie is definitely dated, this scene lingers to this day. The release of the pop hit with a different singer was a pale imitation.

Oh...this song came from moive call you light up my life.....! I been watching this moive about 34years ago in Singapore with my girl friend. Well.... This song made me feel touching ,so when ever I heard this I will recall back my passed with her again and agains! Second time I watch in Vancouver in 1992,but, still recall back with my same girl in 1979 or not the present ones which watch together in Vancouver !

I love Didi Conn's acting during this song. The way she seems to freak out at how good the song sounds with a full orchestra providing the music instead of just a piano or guitar... Beautiful!

@@LALMCGatorsfan sorry, but if this is the movie soundtrack, the actual singer is Kasey Cisyk. Debbie Boone did a cover that got all the glory. The writer, Joseph Brooks, was a creepo who got convicted of over 90 counts of Ra.. (improper behavor) In a 2003 interview with Entertainment Weekly Magazine, Boone admitted, "I had no freedom whatsoever. Joe told me exactly how to sing it and imitate every inflection from the original recording." Cisyk later retained a lawyer and sued Brooks for the fees she had earned for her work on the record and for credit on the soundtrack, which she later received.

You are all wrong. That clearly wasn't Debbie Boone - she isn't that strong or can't change melodic direction as well. It was Kacey Cisyk, a Ukrainian-American singer. Obviously, Kacey didn't have a very good manager, otherwise she would have launched a global career from this one.

Didi Conn is not singing this. It was a singer named Kvitka Cisyk.

Power of a song memory... I was going to my very first Museum Exhibition (Picasso) in Seoul with mom in a taxi when this song played on the radio. I was 7 years old. I could literally smell the entire trip!

Tenia apenas 15 años cuando vi esta bella pelicula y por ende este bellísimo tema romántico...cuánta nostalgia cuántos recuerdos tristes...pero la vida tiene que seguir.

Aubrey Chaw In An interview she said that she actually sang it with her voice so that she could get the feel of the notes and breaths and such. Even though she wasn't miked or anything, she did sing it live for the video effect.

+trha2222 There is no audio of her singing, but that is what she said in an interview on E.T. When the movie came out. That is standard practice for the artist to do. It was done on Bandstand all the time. It's really obvious when they just come out and are not using a microphone. They just standing there singing. Allen Jackson did it on an awards program. They have the artist just sing against tracks to make sure they do not adlib in the performance because everything is timed to the minute for broadcast restrictions. On one show he had the drummer drop his sticks at the last minute and just do "Air drums". Only person who ever sang a movie live that I know of was Gary Busey in "The Buddy Holly story". You can see in the movie, all the songs it was done live. I think they said the movie Les Miserabe was also sung live.

+Aubrey Chaw Just goes to show you that the industry with some songs have their head up their ass. It turned out to be a classic on the compilation albums and a big hit for D. Boone. This song was turned down I was told about six times when presented to labels. He final said "Screw it".!! and financed the whole thing himself.
