Folks who do not have food addictions/disordered eating cannot understand or truely relate to abstinence vs. moderation. If you have food addiction behavior, there is no eating in moderation; it's all and everything in the house. Completely eliminating a troubling trigger food is actually easier than trying to avoid it. Love your work Laura!

I have read that a lot of woman with eating disorders have started carnivore and have finally found a way to overcome…I have only been carnivore for for 6 days but I am also trying to overcome a ED and by Gods grace I am doing it! Eliminating is definitely best, that’s what I am doing…I just don’t know how to act with ice cream and bread! But being full with good meat, losing some weight and feeling good definitely is a different experience

@letsgoladies my youngest daughter thankfully never seen me drunk but her sister did but she knows I'm an alcoholic and she knows that these things run in the family. But she's also my biggest enabler when it comes to food. And I finally got to the point where I was so tired of fighting it I looked at her and I said would you offer me a beer? Bcuz she couldn't understand my being addicted to carbs but when I reframed it and said that to her it finally clicked.

For the person on the livestream who has trouble cooking meat daily: This is what I do and it may help you. I buy six steaks on Friday or Saturday. I salt them heavily and put them on a wire in the fridge, uncovered for 24 hours. Then I vacuum seal them individually and sous vide them. This means I have six cooked and sealed steaks by Monday. Each night I’ll sear a steak for three minutes per side and let it rest for six minutes and I’m done. I hope this helps. 🙏🏻

This is an awesome tip! I'm on the road (drive to the jobs) over 75% of the time for work and in hotels. When I'm back to the office or "home", I live in an extended stay hotel also. I bought an Instant Pot and an air fryer and carry with me, but still a pain to "cook" every night after a long 10 to 12 hour day at work. So off I go to Google to purchase a vacuum sealer, an electric burner and a skillet. I think I can sous vide in the Instant Pot. Thanx!

For those with doctors against removing carbs: My doctor was too. She allowed me to reduce carbs to 100 per day with no fasting. So I didn’t fast but I ate single ingredient foods. My carbs came from vegetables and berries. She was on board with that. She now “allows” to be in control with the amount of carbs I want to consume, usually 10 or less because I use some spices/seasoning, and I sent her to Dr Ken Berry. She is now recommending 100 carb limit to ALL her Type 2 patients ❤

Been stalled for a while but just working on eating when hungry and not worrying about anything else. Then i decided to see what my macro's looked like now that I have a pretty settled routine. I've gradually needed less food twice a day . . . and my eating window has adjusted to about 5 hours. A couple days I only ate one meal 👍 My macro's look good, not anything off but I think the only short fall is vitamin C . . . need to get a bit more of that. The best thing I did was add fish daily. And I definitely need to move more.

I think it all about easy does it… what can you “do” right now in the moment that’s the best thing for you? I do notice that he seems much happier over all and eats less sweets when his diet is more meat based. You don’t have do everything in one swoop. I know for a fact when it comes right down to it I’d so much rather him have the sweets than get off the water wagon. Best wishes to you…you’ve got this bc it’s just for today 😊

I eased into carnivore. I took a month to just cut out carbs a little every day. Then I started reading lables and cut out the sugar over the next month. After that, switching to all meat was pretty easy! I still do sweetened the Stevia electrolyte drinks LMNT and Re-Lyte, but that's it. Once in a while I have a unsweetened flavored carbonated water but I didn't introduce that into my diet for a few months. That way the lack of sweetener didn't bother me. Good luck!

How long have you been carnivore? When I cut out gluten 10 years ago, during the first couple years, I reacted quite badly to gluten. But now, I can handle more gluten, even though I'm keto/carnivore. The way inflammation works, such as with gluten, you can have a lot of inflammation going on that prevents you from noticing the inflammation from other things you'd react to if you didn't have that massive underlying inflammation.

I’m so discouraged!! I’m a month into carnivore and I only lost 10lbs. The first 2 weeks I lost 15lbs. Week 3, I gained 5lbs. Week 4 I lost 3lbs. So far. Im only eating 1-2 meals per day. I can’t eat a lot at once because I had Bariatric surgery that didn’t work but my stomach is small. I can’t exercise because of a spine injury. I’m not a snacker and I limit dairy. I’m not an over eater or sugar freak. I gained this weight due to steroid injections into my spine. I have always been thin. Now I’m stuck and this diet isn’t fast enough for me. The only thing I haven’t given up is coffee with hazelnut creamer. It’s the only carbs I consume and it’s under 100g per day. I have cut my coffee down but don’t want to give it up. I had blood work and my dr told me my bad cholesterol was elevated and I need to be on a low fat diet..lol I’m worried about fasting because I don’t eat enough. I’m satisfied with my daily food intake. Eating more makes me nauseous. I just don’t get why I’m not burning fat!! ☹️

10lbs in a month! That's awesome! Just some thoughts though, I'm 4 months in and I'm at a standstill. But I also have IBS, have had 5 babies and a few years back had an infection that went septic. So chances are, I have some healing to do and I'd rather be healthy than just skinny. Especially since I know that the infection did a lot of damage on my body. At one point a portion of my internal organs were connected because of the inflammation. So there may be more fixing going on than you realize, also you may be gaining muscle! You'll build some muscle eating so much protein. And lastly, if you're still using coffee creamer instead of heavy cream, look at the ingredients. I didn't realize that coffee creamer uses soybean oil in it and that may be causing inflammation. I didn't want to give up my coffee either but what I did was switched it out for a chocolate LMNT in the morning and that worked great.
