@@PutinsMommyNeverHuggedHim Clearly you need a history and civics lesson, Allie. I suggest you find one, a mere 5 minute google search might have saved you the embarrassment. I wasn’t arguing whether a Republic was a democracy; it is a FORM of democracy. There are MANY different forms democratic societies can take. We were set up as a Republic by our Founding Fathers for a reason, I’ll let you find out for yourself but hint hint (it has something to do with the original comment!). It will be sure to dismay you though, as it brings your own ignorance up, directly to bear. But in case ignorance is an ongoing theme for you, I’ll give you a heads-up that REPUBLICS are where the people do NOT directly choose their leaders...they elect REPRESENTATIVES who will do the leader-choosing FOR THEM. Why is that? Well once again, it has something to do with the original comment! LEARN something today and do yourself a favor; take care.

This is exactly what is happening, the Republican Party is at war with itself. Now Trump is attacking his own Vice President, and not allowing the Pence's chief of staff in the White House. He set the two Republican senate candidates in GA up against their Republican governor and Secretary of State. McConnell lost control of his caucus in the senate because a couple of opportunists wanted to grand stand trying to take on the Trump mantle. It's also no coincidence that a pipe bomb was found at the RNC. This mob that invaded the Capitol has no loyalty to the Republican Party, only to Trump.

"Welcome to the party pal", I too can relate when Elaine Chao whom just resigned as the Secretary of FMCSA even though she was getting replaced by the new administration. Elaine refused to protect truckers from rioters on Interstates and after just watching the DC riot on TV, decided to quit. The world would be worse off today if truckers decided to quit and not deliver essentials across America. Truckers faced the virus, rioters, no parking, waiting 8 hours to get unloaded, rates cut in half, no place to eat, rocks from overpasses broke windshields, assaulted drivers and we're even shot at. As usual, trucking men and women have stepped up to the plate for America. Mitch, her husband needs to follow her out the doors.

As a fellow trucker I agree with what you said. We were told the official response for truck drivers who come upon protestors, rioters, or looters is to turn around if possible. If not possible proceed at a slow enough speed that people can get out of the way but fast enough that they can not jump on your truck or trailer. If you run over anyone keep going until you are a safe distance away, at least two miles, stop and then call 911. They said never stop. That was the official guidance given by the federal government. Interstate truckers are under the domain of the federal government so any crime against them is a federal offense. Did you know even peaceful protestors who block a truck are each subject to a $15,000 fine for delaying interstate commerce?

*_Tolerate, in fact, may be far too weak a word to describe the complex relationship between toxic leaders and their followers. These intriguing leaders first charm but then manipulate, mistreat, undermine, and ultimately leave their followers worse off than they found them. Yet many of these followers hang on. I do not speak merely of the leader’s immediate entourage-the leader’s close-in staff and advisors. I am speaking also of the larger mass of supporters (employees, constituents, volunteers) who only glimpse their toxic leader through a glass darkly-perchance through a window of the executive suite or on the television screen. More surprisingly perhaps, even those groups charged with keeping leaders under the microscope and on the straight and narrow-the media and boards of directors-fall under their sway. Followers of toxic leaders often do much more than simply tolerate them. They commonly adulate, abet, and actually prefer toxic leaders to their nontoxic counterparts. That astonishing choice occurs everywhere that leaders strut their stuff-in business, politics, the nonprofit world of education and religion, athletics, the family, and all the other arenas of human action_* Jean Lipman-Blumen, The Allure of Toxic Leaders

It seems hypocritical to accuse the other side of not respecting democracy when one has spent 4 years exactly doing that. The US has become like two school children arguing. Neither side is consistent in their position and neither is listening to the other. When BLM was burning cities such as DC, progressives were telling the police to back off, now some rightwingers got into the Capital and they want the National Guard to machine-gun them.

Sorry, part of my comment, for some reason, was cut out. Here the original comment:Dr. Grande. Thank you for your interesting thoughts. One thing that could be added is that people with narcissism, especially when under stress or obtaining a narcissistic injury (i.e.,they don't get their way), will often decompensate into the formation of persecutory delusions, invoking primitive defense systems such as disowning projection and splitting. In this case, it appears that the persecutory delusion was in the form of a conspiracy of "liberals" who deliberately rigged and stole the election process "against him". For those that are not familiar, the definition of a delusion is that of a fixed, false belief, that is essentially impermeable, despite contrary evidence. This process could also be applied to cult leaders, radical Neo-political groups, and, possibly, very dangerous people such as Adolf Hitler, all of whom may not be particularly dangerous if not that their delusion is taken on by others, many of whom likely have a vulnerable and perhaps similar personality structure, in what I believe is known as a "Shared (or Induced) psychotic/deluaionsl disorder", which is actual psychiatric diagnosis (ICD-10 F24). In my opinion, this is what makes narcisstic delusions potentially more dangerous that what most might think of those coming from someone with a predominant psychotic disorder, e.g. schizophrenia, whose more bizarre (implausible) delusions are not as believable. Perhaps educating the public of these processes in one way that could keep these from these events to continuing to occur.

Also, Dr. Grande, I have listened to very many of your videos! WELL DONE! It is actually quite soothing to listen to traumatic things in a "matter of fact" way.

I really appreciate you making this video, Dr. Grande. I’ve experienced narcissistic abuse and I still have a significant narcissist in my life (hilariously enough, they’re a Trump supporter). It’s reassuring to hear someone say that Narcissism is real, it is a thing. I also liked that you left politics completely out of this or tried to. Politics is so infuriatingly divisive and just a cesspool of discordance. Not very many productive conversations come from politics or anything in the same vein

As another individual who has a narcissist on the periphery of my life - I recently went No Contact for the sake of my mental well-being - I also appreciate Dr. Grande acknowledging that narcissism is a pathology in certain people. Interestingly, the narcissist in my life is also a supporter of Trump. I am not saying everyone who likes Trump and/or his actions and policies is a narcissist but it does seem to be a common trait with the most vocal of his supporters. I hope you can minimise the contact you have with the narcissist still in your life, and wish you all the best for healing from the narcissistic abuse.

To everyone dealing with narcissistic abuse in their life, I just wanted to remind you that you’re not alone. I’m sorry, I know it sucks, and I know how much it can affect your own mental health. My fiancé is a narcissist and he’s constantly gaslighting me and twisting my words and blaming me for everything even when there’s nothing wrong. I believe he’s also suffering from mania but I’m not sure the cause... he’s mentioned that his dr had diagnosed him with bi-polar disorder but he’s not having depressive episodes, just manic and aggressive all the time. I wish I knew how to help him, but he’s obviously not going to let go of his “power” and pride and admit that he needs serious help, so I’m stuck right now, just trying to live day by day without losing my mind. We in this together though.

@@shann5331 All I can say to you, Shannon, is Please Don't Marry Him! If he is truly a narcissist, it'll only get worse & that aggression will be turned more & more (violently) against you (& children, if any). My opinion after 25+ years of living it... If he's like my spouse, there's nothing you can do to "help" him no matter how hard you try & love him. Just my opinion.
