As a fan of the channel and someone who is subscribed I only want the best for you guys on the channel so please don’t take this the wrong way . And I mean this in the best way. Claire I think you’re trying too hard. And not letting it come naturally. Your information is great but very monotone. Maybe less of a poet and more cheerful . Hope this helps you guys and your channel. 👍
You don't have to pay to walk along the lode. You have to pay to get into the hide areas, which are behind the visitor centre. This entire area, by boat or by walk, is free.

Also, I'd be surprised if the boatman wasn't annoyed with you guys for mooring on his mooring. That's where he lets his paying visitors on and off.
