So the combat system was more like The Warriors from 2005? That’s crazy

So the combat system was more complex in the beta

I don’t understand why they removed the evade mechanics. It would be great if they put that in the final game. All you can do is block and not evade which is abit bullshit to me, since Jimmy attended the boxing gym aswell, he should learn evading techniques aswell

Its because you're a kid from a rough background not some trained fighter. You get taught some moves that anyone could pick up with enough experience and practice. It was simply more realistic for Jimmy's character and personality

Swegta showed 2 versions of the old control scheme in his UI analysis video. I showed the same pic in the unused/beta animations video I released like a month ago. Basically X was light attack, square was heavy attack and R1 was the lock on button.

Man, if Rockstar would've implement these complex combos this game could be more fun by just fighting other students.

once you would've unlocked the evade move, could you also dodge grounded attacks (russell's stomp, norton's ground hammer slam, striker and melee greasers' ground punches) like npc's dodge it by rolling on the floor? same question goes for knee drop.

It was only a standing evade where you could choose to evade back, evade left or evade right. That rolling action was most likely exclusive to npcs.

So, X is for light attacks, while square is for heavy attacks. The fighting schemes is like one of those fighting games if you ask me.

X + Square ? Imagine the combos.

@@HaziqOrtonsince the x button was made for light attacks and the square button was made for heavy attacks, i think you would’ve started with the two beta punches then the overhand + uppercut combo gary does in the game this is all speculation on my part tho

X X Square will be shoulder tackle in final version so in beta we use "X" to punch?

I tried on PC and PS2 and the game doesn't register my inputs for those tutorials. Jimmy doesn't have those attacks on his fighting style anymore, most if not all were given to Gary's fighting style.
