Please like and subscribe! Thank you for all the support guys , that's me with the hose and I obviously couldn't stop the fire but I did all that I could. It all happened so fast and that was the only water source and the only thing that came to my mind . The reason I stopped with the hose cuz it was getting really hot and I could hear the fire trucks. Both of the houses are being rebuild right now. Here's the before and after video kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKComdaYf9GTaLg.html

When the fire department arrives they need to size up the building and the fire. It also takes time to flake out a hose and get water on the fire. The most likely reason that the fire grew so fast is because most material that we use in our house is made of synthetic materials such as plastic.

A 5/8 inch hose can do a lot with the right nozzle. The pistol style nozzle restricts flow. There is a type of nozzle that is styled similar to the larger ones fire fighters use on their larger diameter lines. The key is water as soon as possible. And keeping the fire small. Fire needs heat, fuel, and oxygen to burn. If the volume of water reduces the heat. The fire will be controlled.

Steam alone, especially when the space is extensively vented like that, won't soak the burning material much. His problem was the lack of pressure behind that water. opening it up to a cone would have allowed the flames to blow it away.

The house next door caught on fire too and the firefighters didn’t do anything about it, most were just standing there letting it burn. It’s hard to watch when a quick blast of water would prevent it from spreading.

Whatever you can do to safely contain the fire is good... if the fire is too big or you don't know what your doing enough to be safe let the fire department handle it

Actually yes you can but it takes practice and knowing where to aim the water stream. To do this a call the FD then grab the hose and aim the stream at the base of the fire to achieve a knockdown of the fire intensity. Do not enter the structure under any circumstance this would be extremely dangerous.

my advice is: if you have time to move ANY vehicles near the burning building, do so, it gives more room for fire fighters to move around and for the incoming fire trucks..

Good on him for trying. But the quantity of water vs the amount of heat and fule that fire already has was always going to be a losing battle, sadly. Kudos to him though.

Great effort but unfortunately regular house hoses just simply don’t offer enough water pressure to put out fires.

Every drop of water out of that garden hose is evaporated within a foot of passing the windowsill. There's a reason firefighters put a ton of water on fires.

I've seen one guy with a garden hose contain/slow a fire spread enough before the FD arrives to limit the damage to the one unit.

L-143 only Tiller in queens great ladder placement no power lines just cable & phone lines , power lines are way higher up at top of the utility pole . Wish the person filming stayed closer to the action & didn’t stop filming so quickly , there was a lot of work left to watch by the best fire dept on the planet !

Really it had no effect, but that said, you might have had more luck if you could get closer and shoot the water through the window, in the direction of the ceiling. I doubt the water would've had a great deal of effect, because that room flashed over with temperatures easily 1100 degrees Fahrenheit at the ceiling. But... hey... you gave it your best shot with what you had and did it safely so you didn't get hurt and become part of the problem. VERY nice effort!

We had a fire in our garage about like this. My dad put it out with a hose. You need to aim at the base of the fire. It probably doesnt help that it's a two story.
