Can this HDZERO RACING WHOOP really compete? LET'S FIND OUT!

This 22.8 gram 1S WHOOP has HDZERO digital FPV. That's super cool, but is it light enough to be competitive at an analog whoop race? I took it to Sumerian Brewery to find out! Links and related videos below:

    I will get back to whoops when this 1S HDZero Vtx is available. I experienced a similar behavior with the whoop Vtx + HDZeroNano camera on my TinyTrainer. Sometimes after a crash or randomly after plug-in image gets black. Have not tried changing the Mipi cable, now will try and see if that is the issue. Thanks! Love your videos.

    The weight penalty has become small. Certainly small enough for it to be of interest in my favorite class of quads - toothpick. It is amazing to see a viable digital whoop. There is still a cost penalty and these days I have to pinch my pennies awfully hard. I'm still hoping that the cost will come down a bit more. Watching HDZero closely because that would be my choice of digital as of today.

    Thanks another great video. Can't wait for the 1s vtx to be available! I built a 85mm HDZero after watching your video, didn't get it quite as light but a lot of fun, unfortunately eventually after much abuse, a tiny component detached from the board, it still works but range is much decreased, impossible to replace such tiny components. Also bought the Mobula7 HDZero, fantastic fun. Has an occasional issue when bat first connected image is garbled but reconnect and all ok. Do we know if the 1s is in production yet?

    RF is always tricking inside a building with multiple pilots in the air. I think someone's VTX was outputting significantly more than 25mW. The analog flight was pretty clean because that was a different group of pilots and we had worked out the issues by that time.

    Looks amazing!. I can't imagine how much more enjoyable an HD setup would be. I'm a newbie and would love to go check out Emerald City Drones in Arlington, Wa that you showed in a previous vid. Unfortunately I crashed my Eachine Novice II a month ago and after replacing the damaged motors it throttled up a lot more that it should all on it's own then disarmed. Since the area under the flight controller was extremely hot I assume that's the problem? I've been trying to find the replacement but can't even by the name NanoX F4FS V1.0. The closest I've found is the Crazybee F4 V3 AIO but have no idea if it would work. Any advice to help get me back in the air?

  • @doccock100

    @doccock100

    2 жыл бұрын

    If it's throttling up then it sounds OK to me. make sure that you are ready to disarm and try to fly it. It is normal for the motors to go full blast if you give a little throttle and hold the drone still - it is because the drone doesn't know why it is staying still and trying to break free. If the drone tries to go to the moon when you take off then either 1) something is loose 2) props or motors are not correctly orientated 3) Filter settings are to little (see Betaflight set up) Bardwell has videos for trouble shooting this

    If you want a kit where everything is included, then the EMAX TinyHawk kits are pretty popular, as are the BETAFPV Cetus Pro kits. The Cetus has a beginner mode that tries to hold position for you. That can reduce frustration for younger kids, but flying takes practice for sure.

    well, sorry to point this out, but all footage from HDZero looks like HD analog with noise filter vs digital DJI FPV system. And the reason for that that HDZero under the hood really send video in analog format and does post-processing on chip. The question is: Does this different flying HDZero is really that great vs HD analog?

  • @MrShutterBug

    @MrShutterBug

    2 жыл бұрын

    HDZero does not transmit analog data. It sends digital packets as data is scanned across the line. Chris Rosser interviewed the designer. It's a great video if you're interested in learning more. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z42N1JSghajNfM4.html It is true that it does not look as crisp as DJI but you can definitely see a lot more detail in the goggles than analog, and the timing is noticeably more consistent than DJI. Both systems have their strengths.

    I should have explained a little better my kids are getting tired of the simulator (thay are better at it then me!) And are looking to stretch there legs with the real thing. So with that in mind what's the most fun you can have on 1s that can take a a few crashes

  • @MrShutterBug

    @MrShutterBug

    2 жыл бұрын

    Something like the Mobula7 1S would be a great option for flying both indoors and outdoors. It should be able to survive quite a few crashes, and if the frame breaks it's not a big deal to fix (E6000 glue) or replace. If you want something faster with more acrobatic ability, but still 1S, then I really like the 3" 1S Babytooth formula that Bob Roogie came up with (fpvcycle.com). I hope that helps.

The goggles. I know I want digital and I know I want good FOV. I also know I want to build and rip little toothpicks around. Sorry for the late reply. You can definitely use the DJI goggles for analog if you mount an analog module onto it. I know several people who have done that. I have not done it myself because I prefer to use my analog goggles when flying analog. They are lighter and more comfortable for me, plus I don't like the way DJI makes you access analog through the menus. But, if you know that you want DJI, and you also want analog, then that is an option that works.

    One thing we're starting to see as more people use HDZero at events is that in some cases, it can provide a usable signal in cases when analog is completely unflyable due to RF interference. That's been the case at a few events recently. It seems like a growing advantage to digital, beyond just image quality. In terms of overall image quality for HDZero, keep in mind that he's using a custom camera with a very lightweight lens. With the production cameras for the system, the image quality improvement is much more notable.
