I have been doing this for the vast majority of my life. Instant ramen is one of the things that helped me learn to cook as the basic aspect of packet ramen is absurdly easy to make and then you can add whatever you want, experimenting with ingredients and cooking techniques. I now make my own broth use fresh herbs and spices while using fresh noodles and all sorts of topping. One of my more popular toppings is roasted brussel sprouts.

Lol, I think she said that because her grandma is a good cook. That's how I took it. Shiiiiiit, if anyone cooking food gets close to my grandma's cooking, THEY MADE IT. She was such a good cook, it's ridiculous. Lol, my mom, however, not so much...

Here's ten CHEAP ingredients to make your ramen "fancy" on a college kid budget. 1. Frozen Peas and Carrots (~$0.07/oz) - Put in boiling water before noodles 2. Fresh Eggs (~$0.10 each) - Soft-boil or poach in boiling water 3. Sambal Oelek/Chili Paste (~$0.14/oz) - Add to soup at the end or use to sauté noodles 4. Scallions/Green Onions (~$0.16/oz) - Chop finely and garnish on finished noodles 5. Sriracha Chili Sauce (~$0.20/oz) - Add to soup at the end or use to sauté noodles 6.
