I agree 💯. I poured some blue devil that was for power steering leaks... It fixed the power steering leak but I had to get a new power steering reservoir... Clogged it up. Which was cool with me because it was only about 15 bucks. The shop told me I needed a new rack and pinion and I believe all together it was around $1,000 maybe even 1500 dollars worth of stuff that they said they needed to fix. I bought the reservoir for like $15 and the bottle of power steering Blue devil for like 30 or $40

I've tried Blue Devil twice and didn't work either time. They wouldn't refund purchase either. I found "Steel Seal" which runs circles around Blue Devil. Steel Seal works in 15 to 20 min compared to 55 min with the blue. If the coolant is getting into the cylinder and causing smoke / steam from the exhaust, those sealers should work. The affected cylinder MUST be firing though. Its a good idea to either change all sparkplugs or at least the plugs in the affected cylinder or cylinders.

I think you inadvertently lowered the boiling point of the water by unpressurizing the system which is why it started to boil after the system was released of pressure. It's not locked so maybe fill it again and run it unpressurized until it seems like the air pockets are removed and the put a new bottle of Blue Devil and start over. I'd remove the thermostat first though so you know water is circulation. Maybe you can remove the thermostat from that old housing and just reinstall the old housing w/o the thermostat for now. Not sure on those if the thermostat can be removed. Worth a shot maybe.

I went through the same thing, I drained all the coolant and was able to remove the thermostat , removed a few screws and it comes out, i poured it through the expansion tank and bled the system, there are 3 bleeder ports, on the expansion tank, the upper hose to the heater core and one around the throttle body, I let it run an hour with the heat full blast, i drained the coolant and put fresh coolant, when I was done with this process it ran great and didn't have any problems

Randy, I've never used blue devil... Never been one to think it would work at all, but I've used the Bar’s Leaks, High Mileage Cooling System Repair. It's got like a 2 part mix, and It has definitely helped on my engine, ( 97 Nissan 200 SX, you had Randy, but mine's the 2.0 ) It's not perfect but lot better than it was... I've driven it for 2 years like that now... so I'd say it's definitely worked, well to some extent because before yeah... wasn't drivable at all. Now I just gotta keep an eye on the current level maybe every couple months needs a bit at the most. Friends of mine in the past said liquid glass was real good, but I've never tried it. I know with it you can't have any antifreeze in the engine, or it won't work I was told.

Fine Ground Black Pepper: I have watched friends tip a container of fine ground Black Pepper into their Radiators when they have had overheating problems with leaky Head Gaskets or Radiator cores. A neighbour did it to her old Toyota Van and it ran fine afterwards for 2+ Years when she ended up trading it, never overheated once after putting the Pepper in. I bought a Suzuki Wagon R and it overheated on the way home, percolating the Coolant until it split the top Tank. I had the Tank repaired and filled with Coolant, overheated again, then I remembered the Pepper trick. I bought a Container of fine ground Black Pepper and tipped it into the empty Radiator, then filled it with Coolant. Started it up and ran it to operating Temperature then took it for a 20 minute drive. Problem solved! I sold that Car two years later and the new Owner has driven it problem free for the past year without an issue...

Randy, send it back down the road if you’re not going to fix it properly. I have an 11 Rover HSE, the big boy, not the sport. I just went over 100k miles, my owner’s manual says that it’s time to replace the timing chain, if the timing chain breaks, it will destroy the motor, but I do have the 510hp supercharged motor.

Old man has a good point on pulling a plug. So compression is going to push the blue devil away from the gasket.... but if you pull the plug the compression will take the lesser path of resistance allowing the blue devil to flow into the gasket leak and possibly form a bond.... removing a thermostat will also help with the air bubble issue btw... blue devils website has some interesting tips. Removing a plug being one of them... keep in mind to change the oil if coolant is making it into the crankcase after using blue devil .liquid glass can cease a motor

I've tried blue devil on 2 land rovers and 1 mustang, it only worked if they were sucking down coolant, not blowing exhaust into it. So your saying after engine is hot, because Blue Devil only turns into glass at very high temperatures, that removing sparkplug and running engine will allow it to enter leaking headgasket? Wow I'll try this if you say it will.

That thing is probably done. I don't imagine the windshield washer fluid someone put in the blue devil bottle did much. Need to find a nice low mileage one hit hard in the rear you can buy for the motor.

Randy, I like you and I like your videos very much (especially the vlogs like this one), and I absolutely hate to say it, but I really feel like you wound up taking a $2,500 bath with that truck. If Blue Devil did’nt help it, and especially if it’s losing compression like you guys were wondering about (reminds me of that 4-banger Camaro you had a while back), then I think that engine is trash. And quite honestly, I suspect you’d spend more for another engine and the time and labor to pull that one out and put another one in it than what you spent on the whole truck. I think you might be better off sending it back to the auction and cut your losses. I’m so sorry that’s happening to you, because otherwise, that seems like a real nice truck.

Paid $4000 for my 2004 4WD Sequoia three years ago. Now has 180,000 miles. Have made frequent trips from PA to Florida. Runs smooth as silk. Expect it to easily make half a million miles. I don't understand why anyone would buy anything other than Toyota.

I've got nothing good to say about that blue devil stuff plugged every water jacket on a sxs engine I had tore the engine down with pics to show how plugged it was. Had to use my hot tank an hot water pressure washer to get it all out of the engine an ended up fixing it the right way

I think I can see a bleed screw in the expansion tank Maybe this cooling system needs to be bled and has a few points air in the system. If so, pour fluid / water into the expansion tank will not remove the air circulating in the system and the fluid will boil.

What's the point of the baster? Why not just add it to the radiator? I'm having these same exact issues down to the completely dead but the battery pack does fire mine straight up

Perhaps you should look in the manual how to bleed the cooling system and then start over.
