Can an abuser change? If so, what does change look like?
Ойын-сауық
This 2019 video with Chris Moles and Joy Forrest explores what it looks like for an abuser to move away from coercive control to peace. Some domestic violence activists say that abusive people can never change-- that they are wolves in sheep's clothing and irredeemable. The opposite extreme is that many times untrained people helpers fall for false repentance and force victims to reconcile even when the abuser has done nothing to rebuild trust. This discussion with Chris Moles (PeaceWorks) and Joy Forrest (Called to Peace Ministries) explores the possibility of change and how people helpers can determine genuine heart change. To learn more about PeaceWorks' new training program for people helpers who desire to come alongside abusive men visit chrismoles.org, and to access CTPM's faith based advocacy training visit calledtopeace.org.

So thankful for you both!
Thank you for saying that giving abusers knowledge can give them more ammunition to abuse "better". These people are not "basically good" who made a mistake, most are fully aware of their evil motives and don't care who they hurt in order to get what they want. I personally feel abusers are becoming more covert and insidious in this age of information.

Yes some take it and run negative. Some like myself take it and run the opposite direction. The abuser has to want to change. Regardless of how many people say they can’t change which detours some people’s hope. If they want the change and trust in god and forgive themselves they can change. Biggest help for me is figuring out why I was abusing. For me it came from childhood trauma
Y"all are doing AMAZING !!!!!!!❤❤
