Camaro CERAKOTE Paint SPREE (Headers, Engine Components) PLUS Mini-VLOG!
How to use Cerakote's air cure line of high temp coating (glacier black and glacier silver) at home! Since I'm waiting on a few more parts to ship to me before I am able to fully assemble the Camaro's interior, I decided to repair and Cerakote my headers and a few external engine components =)

    I think the greatest day ever for that Camaro was the day you bought it. Hopefully we will see that engine going back into the car soon. Keep up the good work. The reward will be great at the end

    Ryan. That Hurst shifter is an aftermarket Hurst replacement. Aftermarket Hurst shifters use bolts to hold chrome shifter handle to the shifter mechanism and the handle is square. Original GM Hurst shifters used rubber and metal locking shims to hold the shifter handle in place and the orignal handles were round. also original GM shifter mechanisms don't have the positive stop bolts in the sides of the mechanism. the shifting linkages are original GM. GM used a rubber bushing instead of nylon or brass bushings. this keeps the shifter from vibrating or rattling. original rubber bushing are available from inline tube, part number INL12761. the nylon and brass ones last longer if you live in a really cold or hot environment. the rubber ones dry our and crack after a few years. but they are significantly quieter that the nylon or brass. the brass ones are really noisy and will drive you nuts in a street driver car if you drive it all the time, nylon is compromise between the rubber and brass as far a noise goes. I run the Rubber ones in my 71 Camaro SS 396 4 speed. Slop in the shifter is usually caused by worn sector plates, worn sector button, and spring plates in the shifter assembly. incomplete gear engagement usually caused by worn bushings or misadjusted positive stop bolts. Holley Performance Group now owns Hurst and they offer a service kit for the shifter. part # 3327303. it has new sector plates, shims, selector buttons, springs and lube. it also included the bottom debris shield which is usually missing. it will make you shifter like new. someone probably swapped out the GM mechanism for the aftermarket Hurst because the original was worn out, and replacement parts/ service kits were not available until recently. Hurst used to have a rebuild service, but it was stupidly expensive. After Holley bought Hurst, they start offering the service kit. As for the shifter linkage adjustment. there should be just enough free play for the linkage so swivel around the rod, but not move front to back on the rod. I like to use a .005 feeler gauge between the nut and the slider. seems to work well for me. hope this helps. Shad. I love the Cerakote on those headers. looks really nice. I am going to look into using that for my cast iron exhaust manifolds if they have it in a cast iron color.

    I screenshot a comment of yours on just anout every video I post. Thank you for typing this all out, this is info you don’t come by online! As for the cerakote, I have been experimenting mixing glacier black with glacier silver and you can make a nice cast iron mix with it (they don’t currently have cast iron that I know of). I like their products since no matter how you have your gun set, the sheen is the same every time when it dries.

Just a little recommendation when recording voiceovers, try turning down input gain and check your microphone, just to take away the distortion during playback. Hey Ryan, thanks for the ride along, enjoyed the format. You are blessed to have a great Father/mentor. Yes that is a '62 Biscayne 409 car. Those of us that own /love "Late Greats" affectionately call them Bisquicks. Your skills and knowledge always impress me. You will end up with a Camaro to be proud of. Just a suggestion, I have restored a couple interiors that were perfect besides the usual drag wear and tear on the drivers. Check out SMS interiors in Portland Oregon. They sell original pieces of fabric to sew into an otherwise original seat. Take care. Cheers!

    11:42 those 2 nuts are to be loosened when you do your neutral alignment when the shifter is mounted on the transmission along with all the rods. After the shifter is placed in neutral you insert the neutral alignment gauge or drill bit through all the shifter levers where the cutout is then tighten the 2 nuts tight for all 3 shifter arms, then remove the gauge. See this page on my web site my1970z28.com/COPO/diagrams.htm

  • @RyanSampsonRPh

    @RyanSampsonRPh

    3 жыл бұрын

    I always say “I’m going to sell it this year” but when I drive it I change my mind quick lol. I would get the bigger one for sure at harbor freight so you aren’t as confined as well as dont have to set it on something. Mine works well but before you start to use it seal it up with a ton of silicone or something on all of the seams. I found that the “fine” coal slag works the best for the blasting media (tractor supply for 10ish bucks for a 50 pounds bag). Also need a decent size compressor (mines a 60 gallon and runs nonstop when I blast) with a good water trap. Other than that its great lol!

    hay those after market tri rod end you used are just junk if it was i i would never had used that first there not as strong as the orginals also they cost a lot if money you didnt need to spent and it make the car worth less a car with it,s orginal parts is worth more al you would have needed to was to clean and paint the orginal ones it would have ownly cost you a couple of dollors to get the dirt and rust of with a little sand paper and just a small of paint out of a spray can and in the end you would have the better tri rod ends on your car its never good to use after market parts on a car like this and you say why it because that most after mark part makers are not around very long so you use there parts and in a couple of years or so you to need replace or repair your parts and then you find out that the company that made them whent of businuss and you can no longer get the replace parts for those after market parts you use so then you,ll to replace those part with another part from another company as you can,t repair the parts that you have as no one made the replacment parts your needing so it better off not to used those in the first place and you won,t have that problem ya the after market look cool but thats about it and if you used orginal parts you,ll never have that problem i.ve seen a hole lot off car people to have just that problem with after market parts and wished they had never used them
