I'm glad Dave got so firm with her and told her "Don't tell him, IF he does this again you'll call the cops. Just call them." The thing is, she's told him that before and he didn't believe her and she proved that he was right because he showed up again and AGAIN she proved he was right because she didn't call the cops that time either. When a child is told, "I'm not going to tell you to go to bed again" or "This is the last time I'm telling you to go to bed" the parent is teaching the child that what they are saying is not true and he can continue doing what he wants. This lady was doing the same thing. I don't think she should have threatened to call the cops even ONE TIME because the restraining order should have been his clue that if he showed up the cops would be called. But he showed up and they were not called so what does she think that taught him? Dave gave her some excellent advice. I hope she follows it.

I often read in the comments section to these videos that many people watch them to feel better about their own financial situation. I on the other hand watch them for this type of content, because I love to see goodness in action. Dave is an extraordinarily good man, and I greatly appreciate his company even if it is just through a screen and entirely one directional, as he cannot have the slightest idea about me. In fact, it seems to me that all the public figures on the Ramsey team are really good people, and at least to me they are as inspiring and pleasant as they are interesting and educational to listen to. Definitely one of my favorite shows out there!

if for no other reason - but there's tons of other reasons - I am a Dave Ramsey 'appreciator'. He - and his entire organization of people - will rise above to protect the underdog, especially when they are single folks with children coming out of abusive situations. I do believe they would have stood as strongly with a single, abused male as they did for this lady. (and don't even think men do not also get abused).

It's stuff like this I really appreciate dave for. You do great work. You focused on the real problem. As a person who's had a lot of traumatic events... how you handled that was great. Especially making her repeat and encouraging her to take care of herself. She needs to hear these things. I know from experience that when you're coming out of that situation, you have tunnel vision. You are so focused on just surviving. You don't focus on thriving. You're just focused on getting yourself out and consequences be darned. It's a crappy situation. Btw. She's likely hiding something. Don't know what, but if she's been in that abusive household for that long of time. You learn to hide. To survive. It might not be huge or substantially impactful. It's most likely not bad. But she's likely hiding something. It's probably been beat into her to do it. Depends on how free she feels after the restraining order. She's either hiding or she's in the firehose of emotional reaction stage where she ain't afraid to say anything. I know I pick on dave for some things like his view on credit cards. But it's all nuanced stuff. Overall I think he helps a lot of people & this imo I'd a good example of that.
