Just wanted to tell Adrian how much we appreciate him turning slowly while filming. It causes us to become a little nauseous when the video is spinning quite fast. I actually held my breath as Carole removed the wallpaper! Great job Adrian on the chandelier with Carole's brush! It looks so gorgeous! Carole you have such a great eye for treasures! I like the original wallpaper best, too. There's something about the proportions of the pattern and subtle shading that fits a chateau so well. It's wretched dealing with a building that wants furnishings that are so specific to its form, yet the promise so sweet if you can get it just right. Such a tough spot to be in, what to do, what to do...

I think the fireplace set is perfect!!

Pretty town with that lake, I could see myself walking my dog around daily. Great find on the fireplace tools, what are the hooks on each side of the fireplace for? I just noticed the chandelier matches the molding in the salon, the little balls tie them together. It’s all in the details! Cheers Capt Kirk

Oh that wallpaper removal was definitely a breath holder! Glad you were able to get removed Carole! I really hope something can be done to get as close of a match as possible now that it is off the wall.💮 That little pink toothbrush is doing so much work! Adrian, you're doing a fantastic job with the chandelier. Just give it time and patience and don't get discouraged. Keep polishing the balls! 😆Your efforts will be well worth it! Perhaps one of the viewers or at another market might find that 4th piece for the fireplace tool set. Even if it won't get used often, it's still lovely to see it cleaned up.

Good luck with getting a proper reproduction of the wallpaper sorted! We drove through the village and past your place last time we over at our house in La Dorée at the end of August. It looks just as impressive as on the videos, if not more so in the flesh 😉

The gold leaf actually looks really nice on the paneling. Much better than on the plaster.

Check out Anna on How to Renovate a Chateau (Without Killing Your Partner) she has made her own bespoke wallpaper numerous times using Lino cut blocks. It really gives a dimensional look and you choose the exact paint colors to use. I think that might be the solution for the salon!!!❤

those scrolls in the chandelier kind of remind me of a stylistic fiddle head fern....

This is my second time watching this video so my second comment is: Part of the beauty of this wallpaper is how much like a watercolor it looks. Many besides me have suggested Anna from one of the other chateau blogs, who is a designer and has created wallpaper as well as her own ceramic tiles. If you would consider collaborating with her she may know of someone who can reproduce the original wallpaper that we all love and give it that watery look - almost like a whisper of a design. And, I'm still for the color grey but then it isn't my chateau. LOL. Hope you don't resent this advice. And I must add, your patience won the day as you were able to remove the last sample of the elusive wallpaper intact!!!! Kudos!!!

I would definitely use the white bulbs. The tinted ones will always cause a glare unless they are covered with small lampshades. I've agonized over the same thing in my house and the white or frosted bulbs give the best light with the least amount of glare and eye strain. Otherwise, I am so pleased to see all the work that you and Carole have done. You have come a long way and I've followed you from the very beginning. Mark

Hi Mark. Unfortunately when we compared them both the tinted did look a lot better. Remember the bulbs are nearly 3 metres high

I think the fireplace equipment is perfect for there. Great find! Can't wait to see the chandelier with all its crystals.

💕I always put washing up liquid on a plate the dip my toothbrush into it to clean awkward places leave on the first area do the next 1-2 areas then go back & scrub the first area with another brush dipped in water💕If I have a stubborn area i dip my brush in white sand I’ve also found a nail brush is good for easy to reach area’s💕White vinegar is also fantastic for cleaning bathroom’s & kitchens especially tiles💕I just put it in a spray bottle💕White vinegar is great to use on many things💕

I’m all caught up to the present on the videos! Yay, but sad, too!

I’m probably crazy for addressing this but I am a artist with a background in printing and painting you wall paper would be very easy to make. Now when I say easy I don’t mean less work it’s a big job and of course I live in the United States but it’s possible I could help you out I just love your house and The meticulousness with which you’ve approached the restoration so far possibly I could do a sample piece for you I’m really thinking hand-painted with watercolors might be the best solution It would give you that transparency that the paper on TV at least shows so you could get the depth you’re missing in the digital prints or it could be silkscreens and there are probably other artists or local to you who might be willing to do the work anyway it’s just something I’ve been thinking about for several months now

You can actually see the pattern of the wallpaper much clearer while over the top of it Carole, it’s rather quite pretty.

Superb job on everything you touch ! What a great team !!! I can't blame you for Wanting to reproduce the wallpaper for the panels...... nothing else will do. Anna from 'How to Renovate a Chateau ' has created quite a bit of the chateaus wallcoverings... She may be a source of help for you! The Best to you both.....

Do you have a dishwasher? You can put a lot of things in there! Use the gentle cycle - like for glass. It works wonders!!

Carole and Adrian, you honor the chateau immensely with your meticulous attention to detail and eye toward restoration. Everything you touch turns to gold, literally or figuratively! You’re attuned to the period in which the chateau was built and are able to marry brocante finds which perfectly compliment the decor. That’s an art! While you’re at the wallpaper factory, perhaps ask not only if they can reproduce the original wallpaper, but can they do it in French silver vs gray, champagne, and gold. My gut says a metallic tone will work best with the gold leaf and the chandelier. Curiously, did you decide whether to keep the ceramic tubes on the chandelier white, or change them to champagne or gold leaf? If the wallpaper factory can provide a panel in all three colors, it may help you to decide what direction your gut tells you to you to go. Whatever you decide, it will be brilliant as usual!

Friends of ours had a second-hand shop and the man always used a bucket of hot soapy water and a toothbrush or broom (depending on the size) to remove dirt, grime, old paint, etc. before he tried any of the usual methods. It was quite surprising what came off and how much labour he saved himself.

Carole, in watching you remove the wallpaper I couldn't help but wonder if one of those clothes steamers wouldn't have been of some benefit in getting the paper to release.

Lovely clock!

There is a liquid called "Blue Wonder" you can use for deep cleaning of almost anything. Just a bit in hot water, or pure on a teethbrush😉 and it cleans really everything, no matter how dirty or creasy. Maybe you can buy it in France

Adrian, on the chandelier, they are not "balls," it is "beading." Little beads, (or not so little beads,) in a row is called "millegram."

Carole, I am thinking about your bespoke wallpaper and I am wondering if changing your base paper might help the end result. If you started with a creamier white paper it might be better. Of course I am seeing things through my phone. Also, have you thought about talking with Anna Bewley at HonFluer? She might be able to advice.
