Suggestion, don’t decide on the bulbs until you put the chandelier in place.

I agree too.
I like the flame shape in clear (looks like a flame of a candle) and the gold plastic.
The clear with or without the gold vinyl. You see, I think the glass tubes are made to look like candles. And if you put the white bulbs, they no longer look like candles. However, it may look different in the room when the light is up. Good luck deciding.
Oh Carol, the gold on the mirror frame is magnificent. I prefer the white flame bulb with white candle for the chandelier.
Not difficult at all. Go with the 2w led tinted! Remember how many lightbulbs, the chandelier holds... And the reason i say tinted, is because i think they will give more of an impression of actual candlelights, which is what you want on an antique chandelier - and also, it will work amazingly with all the gold leaf in the room 😍😍😍 But deffinately, 2w led.... And white, ceramic "candles"!! If you go with a higher watt (still LED😉), You might want to consider, if they are dimmable - that might be a good idea. And another reason - I think the led ones, with the little pointy tip simply look much, much better, than the more ordinary, boring white bulbs... Especially when it is not on, during the day.... Oh, and Adrian, I noticed, you where still polishing parts for the chandelier - did you consider, giving it a spray of lacquer, to keep it shiny for alot longer?

I agree with you. LED is the only way to go. Once the chandelier is hung, you won't be looking directly at the bulbs and the 'image' Carole believes the'white bulbs' give will not be distinguishable. Stick to your guns on this one Adrian!

Defo going with 2w tinted bulbs with the original white casings
like the white cover with clear bulb...looks like candles....
That room will be stunning!!! I can’t believe your patience in doing all that gold leaf! And that chandelier will be beautiful!!
Hello Carole & Adrian - I would try the bulbs in the salon as the reflection may be different from each different candle bulb. Personally- I think the white bulbs look odd as flames are orange xx

Love the tinted light on the far left, Option #1. Somehow it looks more original to the chandelier!!! 🇺🇲
Regarding the lights on the chandelier, I am liking option 2. And I wanted to express how beautiful Carole's work in the Salon has turned out. A passion project which will shine for years to come! Well done Carole and greetings from Seattle, USA.
Carol and Adrian you two are inspirational!! May I suggest a Holiday Chateau Tour to also include the Pethericks, Terry,Ash and family🎄. It would be lovely to see Beth and your sweet parents as well! You ALL have worked endlessly with smiles and humor along the way. I’m certain each château will sparkle this coming holiday season🤶🎅. Stay well❤
Hello Carole Option 2 for me Can’t wait to see the mirror when it’s done it will look fabulous Adrian you have the patience of a saint dear man The chandelier will look fantastic Love to both of you Andrew 💐💜xx
Have to admire ALL the detail work . The gold leaf and all the other restorations in this room are spectacular and really bring the Chateau back to its real life.
I like the clear bulb on the right side of the left chandelier.

Me too!
When you know some things are worth preserving, maintaining, and repairing as needed...! 🥰
Loved watching this project! Just beautiful! ❤️❤️
the ceiling looks beautiful. for the lightbulbs, #2 looks more like a candle flame including the yellow color (its hard to see online).
Beautiful beautiful work both of you, I love restoring things, I haven’t been able to since I developed a nerve issue but I’m hoping to try some small projects. You are both a great inspiration!
Wow, your mirror crown is beautiful. Still admiring your perseverance and the work you have accomplished thus far is so just gorgeous. Adrian’s electrical restoration of the chandelier is very impressive. All bulbs now days are beyond me!! Watching and enjoying from PA, USA.
Hands down #2 for me! I really don't care for the white ones, they look like Christmas tree lights or something.

Yes like Xmas lights which takes away from authenticity of option 2 with gold sleeve.
I like option 3, but it is your chandelier and you guys have to look at it! Love seeing the progress! Thanks for sharing!
All that Grand Salon plus a whole house too! WOW!! Whatever you choose on light bulbs will be the best!!
You both have such amazing attention to details, and it absolutely shows!
Wow the salon is shaping up beautifully. Such a huge amount of fine details . The chandelier is going to be amazing!
Carole, the mirror is coming along beautifully! A mini-Versailles! Adrian, you are doing amazingly with the rewiring of the chandelier! And I am on your side about the shape of the light bulbs, but I think with the frosted white, so that the light isn't harsh. Just my two cents...lol Well done you two!
The gold leaf looks amazing. Good job. Well done. The tinted LEDs I think works best and gives off enough light.
You 2 are incredible, hope you get so many more subscribers. A huge fan from south Africa. Sending all my love
Hi Carole & Adrian, Thanks for taking the time to spotlight the mirror to show us, the gold leaf looks wonderful...the molding looked really beautiful in that up lighting as well! Since lighting is such a personal choice & I find it hard to imagine until the chandelier is in place & then you can see how it will reflect all the gold, I know you will make the perfect choice Carole, your taste is exquisite! Adrian you are doing an amazing job with the chandelier...safe travels. Thank you so much for sharing, take really good care, stay well. Lots of love Kathy 💖
Hi Carole and Adrian, I love the gold leaf on the crown above the mirror, lovely job Carole. As regards the light fixtures, I'd go for option 2. Tedious job rewiring Adrian, but whatever you do turns out good. Take care both.
Hey .. so glad you were able to complete the molding on top of the mirror…. Perfect match !!
Putting together a chandelier who knew it would be so complicated. A very painstaking process, excellent job Adrian. Carole, the gold leafing is truly stunning .The reflections from the ceiling rose, onto the mirrors were very beautiful.
Beautiful! I really love your style….and that you wait for what you REALLY want for decorating! I especially enjoy your sass! The best attitude ever!

Oh my goodness…. STUNNING!!!!
I like the tinted/clear bulbs. More flame like. You are doing an amazing job. Love watching you. :)
I like the clear bulb with the white “candle,” as I think the gold glow from it looks best with the gleaming brass, and will look lovely reflected in the mirror. Either way, the salon is going to look marvelous. The time, thought and energy you’ve put in will reap its rewards.
Your work in the salon is stunning. The chandelier will be gorgeous and the reflection in the mirror will be magical.
Bravo Carole! The gold leafing is gorgeous. Adrian, the chandelier is quite an undertaking. You are doing a terrific job! The chateau is in great hands!!! I hope you both get a play day in England....you most certainly deserve it!😀💗

Completely agree. The work involved in the chandelier is mind boggling.
Your work is incredible with all that repair and gold leaf. It has turned out perfect Well done.
Carol, I have plastic candle covers with bees wax and wax drips on sides. In my opinion that’s the best look. If you have to use white covers you could also drip candle wax on the sides. But off white color looks best. I agree with you about the bulb selection. The first one you said you like is best.
Hi Adrian and Carole, The real gilding looks gorgeous comparted to gold paint - amazing. I worked in a lighting shop for a while and can only advise please don't use gold plastic candles or the taste police will call... re which lightbulbs are better I think your white bulbs with the twist are old fashioned incandescent - I don't think you can get a warm white LED version without the ugly white plastic collar on each lamp. In traditional chandelier lighting, clear bulbs have always been preferred if crystals are present as they reflect and refract light causing the 'rainbow' sparkle effect whereas soft white candle bulbs were used where small silk shades were placed over each 'candle' to soften the light. Hope that helps.

Hadn't thought about the crystals, good point, they've been packed away for over a year!
Hi Carole & Adrian….I have a small brass chandelier and have the option 2 bulbs..they look lovely in the day too..pick up the sun’s reflection…love the gold leaf above the mirror and the sconces are beautiful…The chandelier is going to make the room even more gorgeous..all the reflections day and night. Can’t wait for the chandelier ….yeah…🏰💗
I love #2 option and all your hard work is so beautiful 😍
I love the clear original one you first chose even with the plastic candle! It gives off amazing light too! So number 2 is my pick! I think when it’s higher up with all the gold leaf it will look fabulous!
2!!! I am so excited to see it all done!!!
What a superb job you have done in The Salon. Congratulations!

Gold leaf has brought the molding to another level. Great choice and very hard work has paid off in its grandeur’s!
The mirror and crown are absolutely breathtaking! It is going to be the most magnificent transformation ever. Regarding the chandelier lighting...My vote is for the white bulbs. Hopefully you can find them in a candle shape 🤞.
Whatever light you’ve chosen will look amazing. ⚜️Can’t get over how the crown of the mirror was literally shining with the light below it. All your hard work is definately paying off 💐🌻🍂🌻💛
The gold is just breathtaking! ♥️
The sheer detail in the gilding is amazing. Definitely makes it look something from Versailles
Adrian to me you would do anything for Carole. Both your cheeky responses make me smile but I know you will get the chandelier up and going. Bless you both!
Just me opinion, the center piece on the ceiling needs more gold priding, it’s not balanced as it is. This room is absolutely gorgeous and Carole has done incredible work. If it was me, every time I left that room I would have to go back to look at it again. Congratulations. Can’t wait for the final reveal.

Hi Ronald, don't know if you've watched the other episodes but the reason is that the figures are rather ugly so Carole has said she prefers not to highlight these (and, not that it's important, but I agree!)😊Isn't it looking amazing!!!

@@suzieq2958 hi Susie, I know exactly what you mean but I wasn’t referring to the figures. I was concerned that my description was vague…it’s not all that important anyway, the room is absolutely beautiful and will only get better. Cheers!

No the ceiling does not need more gold.
The mirror and the medallion look amazing, I love you work Carole, now with those lights, I like the shape and look of the clear, but with the white casing when they are lit the white bulbs look better because it blends the space between the bulbs and the casing. if Adrian can get the clear shape in white then I think it's a winner. Ok now I like the clear bulbs with the gold casing. #2, Adrian you are the master of chandelier restoration. Safe travels. Love from NY.
#3 The light bulb goes better with the chandelier to me. It seems to provide a gentle ambience. The led lights give off a harsh light, makes me squint when looking at it. I must say I love the work you are doing, especially the way you have done the "gold leaf" highlights on the ceiling. At first I didn't think I was going to like it, but when you look from below it is absolutely stunning! If I was 30 years younger I would come help you! I used to dream of being able to do what you are doing. I have always loved big old houses! Keep up the great work you are doing!
Option 2 for me but you’ll know what’s best. The cornices detail really stands out with the night light 🥰
Awesome I love the mirror.
Carol you deserve to skive off after all of the meticulous and beautifully detailed work you have been doing in the salon. My vote is option 2 having gold around the surrounds with the clear bulbs.
The clear LED light look more real
I like #3. Everything 8s looking great!
I like the white ones. The salon looks amazing even at night. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
2# is gorgeous!
Option 2 Can’t wait to see it put back together
The gold leaf just stunning. As for the Brocante - wow - I think you would need to leave a trail of bread crumbs to find your way out. BUT I bet there are some treasures buried in there. Thank you again - A bientot!
I agree with Mr. Hirschauer, especially about wanting to come back into the salon every time I left it!
I like the ceramic tubes better than the gold.
You doing a beautiful job everything is so Gorgeous😊
I prefer #2 Carol , the room is coming gorgeous! Keep the good work!
What a job! You have the patience of Job. :-)
If you want indirect light with a ability to use transparent shades, then the flame look is perfect. But if you want a brighter output, say a reading strength, then the Xmas bulbs will work.
Hi Carol, I love option 2😍
Bulb option 2 with white candle will work nicely. Once finished. word will get out and people will come for miles to see the golden salon.
The salon is the most beautiful room!
You are so brave. I would have run for the hills a long time ago.
gold leaf does look regal! Good job Carole, it is a lot of work
Gold leaf on the mirror works brilliant🤗❤🌹 The chandelier is going to look Amazing hope you manage to get it welded🤗❤🌹 Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
My gosh you guys that room is going to be breathtaking! Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
Just amazed at how talented you both are; to do all of this yourselves! I like 2 w tinted! Option # 1 So enjoy your vedios! Love you guy's! ❤
Option 2 . I think looks the best and those bulbs put off tons of light I have a small chandelier that has 3 bulbs and they light the room up really good
Option 2 for me. The gold leaf on the mirror is stunning as well as the details above the chandelier. That room will be spectacular! Congratulations on what you have accomplished so far! cx

Thank you Stephanie!
We (my husband and I) vote for the white bulbs. We liked the clear until the white sleeve went on - then the white became our fave. Of course, in the room hung up may be another twist altogether 🙂 Your gold leaf looks amazing, holidays in there will be magnificent!
I liked #2 light bulb straight away! (The flame shaped bulbs look so elegant in the chandeliers in our local museum mansion, we change out the solid white oval shaped bulbs a few years ago.) The painstaking restoration of that brass chandelier is so awesome. (Was it original to your chateau? I thought I heard you say??) The Gold leafing boggles my mind. Kudos to you Carol and your extreme patience with that tedious glorious, transformation!👌🏻💕😊
Жыл бұрын
Yes Karen the chandelier is the original
I agree wait until the chandelier is cleaned and in place before deciding!!! the white bulbs do look to modern, I prefer the flame bulb in option 2. Also maybe the white ceramic covers are to white and need to be more of an off white and dare I say some sort of small wax like dribble down them.
Mostly I admire your patience!!! Great job on that chandelier
I like No 1, with the ceramic tube covered in gold leaf? Your gold leaf looks spectacular, Carole! Well done! Rikki Biermann, Pretoria, South Africa 🇿🇦
Still working hard, and the results are impressive!
#3-definitely!
The gold leaf looks GREAT! I'm sure it is very tedious to apply it, but it's also instantly rewarding to see the transformation. I think with the chandelier you won't really know which look you prefer until you have it assembled in the space. I've decorated rooms with a clear mental image in my head of how it would look, and while I'm usually pretty accurate, I've still had to make adjustments due to that particular room's lighting and actual layout. You may find the white-and-gold look works with the room's similar look, or you may decide the white is too sharp and new in the antique setting. In any case, the chandelier will be a crowning touch once it's repaired and assembled. 🙂👍
The chandolier is absolutely beautiful as is the rest of the room. I think the white candles with clear bulbs would best complement the beauty of the chandolier.
Had the same problem when I switched to LEDs. To cover the gap, I used hot glue to mimic the melted wax and used paint to blend it with the base. As to the bulbs, I prefer the LED light yellow tinted glass as it mimics candlelight more than the clear.
This is such a unique well crafted chandelier. As a calligrapher i really appreciate the acanthus leaves and all the clever ways the designer used in all sorts of orientations. You are so clever to rewire it all so invisibly….
Жыл бұрын
Thank you Judi!
Option 2..exelent work..
You have helped me to understand why fully restored chandeliers are so expensive.
The bulbs with the flame tip are exactly what I put in my chandelier. Since they look like flames I took my glass paint (which is translucent) and painted them to look like flames. Since they are LED and don't get hot the paint works, it made the bulbs look like hand blown glass with red, orange, and yellow and a red tip on top. I wish I could send you a photo. They look beautiful with the white "candle" below. Carol could paint your bulbs easily. But if you leave them unpainted, I like the clear LED bulb with the flame tip and the gold casing.
My opinion is the white bulbs look like bulbs on a Christmas Tree. The amber colored bulbs accentuate the richness of the gold leaf in the room giving a rich appearance.
I admire your work, patience and diligence for reviving your chateau! I think the white bulbs look a little too modern in the chandelier and kind of cheapen the beautiful antique as the white is very in-your-face white. Also I find your idea to tuning down the stark white of the porcelain tubes is the right way to go; .either in brass/gold or a kind of eggshell white maybe. And I prefer the reflexion of the light from the clear glas bulb on the chandelier.👍🙂
Love the bulbs shaped like a flame and also prefer them to the white bulbs. The white ones look clunky to me. I think the choice between clear and tinted might depend on how they look in situ. The chandelier is polishing up beautifully. And the salon becomes more beautiful each week!
Carol you can buy L E D globs that flicker similar to candles, not sure how bright you can get them, also the covers under globes are available that look like real wax candle with runs of melted wax came down sides. Just thought you might be interested. They are available on EBay. Yvonne x
The white bulbs with the white ceramics look more like real candles when lit. To my eye, the gold plastic looks like a piece of pipe. Your mirror is magnificent!
I still prefer the first bulb (option 2) you chose with the ceramic casing - it has more the look of a candle which is what the chandelier is mimicking. Option 1 is my second choice. Love the gold leaf!
I agree that center rosette needs balancing by adding more gold leaf in more areas.
