    I'd like to see the Academy King Tiger: Last Production (1/35) tackled by you, Andy, it has the infamous 'octopus' camo scheme and can be built with the narrow transport tracks.

    I wouldn't 'dislike' this video because Andy has one of the finest channels for model building going, but even he is fallible. He skipped over quite a few rather important steps such as the mesh covering with the double-sided tape (included in the kit- and not a standard part of a build), as well as skipping over the build and mount of the entire loading breech (separate from the fact he used a metal gun barrel) and quite a few smaller bits and pieces which, because Andy builds in different order to the Tamiya instructions, can make it quite confusing whether to go ahead with a certain part of the build or wait.

    All the Tiger 2’s I’ve seen in person had rubber tired wheels. That includes Bovington, Aberdeen proving Grounds in the early 70’s, ( before the move to the museum at Knox, and the La Gleize, Belgium one in the late 80’s. I don’t doubt there were some because of the quality rubber shortage, but I have yet to see one. Good job.

    Andy, just an advice for building future German cats with the exhaust protectors on the rear, the bottom part of the exhaust protectors are not closed, because when it rains you don't want them to be filled up with water which would damage both exhaust and engine, you might wanna use something to remove it. Its sad that there are still kits like Tamiya not noticing them.

    @@refealibazeta7886 Also, I recall readingthe following: Contrary to what the German propaganda films show, King Tigers were not part of the main assault during the Battle of the Bulge. The King Tigers were considered too slow & unreliable for a mission that required rapid advance in muddy winter conditions, so Panthers, PzKpfW IVs, Jagpanzer IVs, and StuG IIIs/IVs were used. However, once the main German thrust was halted & the Allies went on the offensive, they did encounter some King Tigers.

    I think that King Tiger was one of the best tanks during the Second World War. I'm sure its potential wasn't realised by the best way. As for the model, it is very good. TAMYA provides a high quality. For me it is very important. The author of this video makes a very good job. Sorry for my English.

  • @derekbaker3279

    @derekbaker3279

    The King Tiger lacked some of the characteristics that make a main battle tank effective as both an offensive and defensive weapon. It was under-powered which meant poor mobility/maneuverability, it was not mechanically reliable, it required very frequent maintenance to keep it running smoothly (even if it didn't break down), it was impossible to mass produce, and it consumed great amounts of fuel (which was always in short supply for the Germans. Realistically, the King Tiger wasn't even the best German tank. Once some early design defects were corrected, the Panther was the best tank the Germans useed in WWII. Generally, the T-34 and Panther are considered the best tanks in WWII.

    As always, a beautiful build. My first model was zvezda king tiger. If you want something novel, try zvezda kits. They're pretty cheap, with good detail and easy to build. Zvezda has an interesting feature in their panther ausf d kit, it has single link plastic tracks which, when built, are fully workable and they sag realistically. Can't say the same about king tiger tracks, single link tracks that aren't workable so you really do have to think ahead when building.
