Small error @ 16:35: CPU temp for 'NO Bottom Fan" scenario was 78 degrees, not 74. I only just noticed it prior to publishing. The front panel was closed during this run. Not sure how that slipped through. Apologies!

Hi Greg, any mid tower can have great airflow if you remove the front panel. Also, was this video sponsored? Seemed suspiciously positive. Also if you have the front panel closed, having intake in the top would help. The idea of airflow cases, is that because they have good airflow you don't need to run the fans as fast and it is quieter. So having it closed off isn't necessarily quieter for the same temperature.

Thanks Greg for a very generous presentation as usual. I'm a 'baby boomer geezer' and I cherish my cd/dvd burner in my Define 7 case build. I've 'handbraked' many dvd movies that for me are life time favourites. It's still exciting for me, growing up in the 'tv tube' era of the fifties and sixties, to simply 'click' on a movie file and play 10 or 20 minutes of a favourite scene without any bother at all. There is so much computer space and speed now it's amazing to me to have scores of movies ready to view with just a 'click'. I can still remember the thrill of bringing out a small transistor battery powered transistor radio outside of the house. So you can imagine how I appreciate 5900x cpu, 64 gig ram (I know I don't need half of that but who cares?) aorus 570S board set up. I run windows and Linux on separate m.2 drives, each OS also has separate ssd space and I have a very large mechical drive to store my clonzilla image drives which have saved me a few times.

I still use my Obsidian 550D case as secondary system. It was designed with noise reduction in mind, before ppl started obsessing with good airflow. My 550D sets my Cpu temps in idle at around 32/34C (which most of the times it is being a secondary system) and around 40/45C when in use (no gaming). Plenty of airflow, extremely quiet and has 4x 5.25 bays. Plenty of storage space (6x 3.5"). Love that absolutely quiet case.

I recently switched my build to an Antec DP502 FLUX case with 3x front intake, 2x top exhaust, 1x rear exhaust, 2x bottom intake and my temps have never been better. The FLUX design with the bottom intake really helped with my GPU temps and it even pushes some air past the GPU towards the CPU cooler.

I had a Fractal Define and observed basically the same thing, opening the front panel meant better temperatures. Cool. That led to overclocking, which led to crossfire GPUs, which led to me replacing my power supply for something high end, which led to more overclocking, which led to my motherboard catching fire, which left to a platform upgrade, which led to me buying a new case designed for airflow, and I've been pretty happy with my pc since.

Every couple of years, PC owners find a new word that mesmerizes them. I guess "airflow" will be this year's obsession. Last year, everyone was concerned about "bottlenecking" without even understanding what it is. Then it was "throttling." By the way, there is no silent fan or PC. Silence is the absence of sound. The most that we can hope for is "very quiet." That's a good basic case, because it's no frills, which appeals to me. My PC sits between my desk and the wall, so glass panels and LEDs don't mean anything. Plus, it has a drive bay access, which I use. Another very entertaining video. Keep it up.

That's why I loved the Fractal Design Define S. I have two of them and they're silent but also great for air flow. They keep any system cool and what's even better is that you can fit two 360mm Radiators in it. How good is it? System 1: Xeon E5-1280 V2 @ 4.5GHz 2x AMD Fury-X Max load on the GPUs hovers in the high 30c to low 40c range. Ambient is around 26C. The CPU is in the 50s under heavy load. System 2: Ryzen 7 2700 @ 4GHz 2x Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro Max load on the GPUs hovers in the high 30c to low 40c range. Ambient is around 26C. The CPU is in the 40s under heavy load. Custom watercooled with 2x 360mmx30mm thick radiators in each. The fans used are Deepcool RF120 RGB fans which produce around 27 decibels of noise at full spin. Systems are absolutely silent.

Love this novel designed case, Greg! Good job instructing us to it's points! The front reminds me of my main rig's Fractal Define R5 case. It too has the soundproofing material in the door and the ability to change which direction the door opens/closes! Me, I can handle a little more noise so the door is always open so temps are better. Hopefully this will be their comeback. Since they aided in setting the standard of cases. I was a big fan of their sister company Chieftec in the late 90s early 2000s as they were the first to design clear side panels using lexan. Only bad thing back then was the inside of the case was unpainted aluminum. I still have 2 original clear sided Chieftec cases. One AT and one ATX full size, back when full towers were classified as super towers.

I had an NZXT Hush case in about 2009. Yes it was quiet but one thing I hated about it at the time and during it's use, the swing door at the front with a DVD drive. I hated it back then, so many times an accidental click on something (usually a Windows "save as" defaulting to the DVD as it was the last used) activating the drive and bang into the closed door (not enough to open it) and I can't believe there's a new case with that same front design now.

Hey Greg! thanx for the Video! I actually got the DP502 FLUX version of this case just recently because I have a TON of DVDs that I still like to watch and my NZXT 510 didn't support a drive, so had to use an external thru USB... My case looks almost identical, and I think they just changed the front panel to be honest.. The options screen You showed, with the RGB fans, when showing different FLUX variations was actually the DP502. Anyway... aside from the support for a BlueRay drive (which again,..I got the same LG that You have) the airflow is MUCH better than the NZXT... so definitely agree with liking this case. Thanx again for the video! P.S. Wanted to add that the DP502 also comes with 5 fans (3 RGB in front, 1 rear and the 1 reverse for the bottom) and another difference is the DP502 does have a top vent.

It's tough to find optical drive support these days lol, because it's a PC purely to consume video content via a TV I wanted the option of playing DVDs and Blu-ray unlike my last HTPC that didn't have that functionality. They can definitely still have some use, but it's crazy to think I haven't had an optical drive or used a physical disc of any kind in years until now!

Had an old cooler master case that allowed me to install a bottom fan and it did help my GPU temps, it was filtered air and dust gathered over a period of time although it wasn't that bad. I normally dust out my PC twice a month and deep clean every 3 months.

Massive kudo to antec for NOT doing a case with tempered glass.... it's a fully functioning case in 2022 with optical drive bay.... I'll be honest this is actually A LOT better than lian li's lancool II mesh just because of the drive bay AND the lack of tempered glass while still having respectable airflow. adding this case to my wish list

I actually have my cpu heatsink fan on the other side, still facing the same way so that the fan is blowing through it and out through the back fan that way. Is it better to seat it on the other side to pull the heat instead of blow through it?

Do it the standard way. I only did this because of RAM clearance, which I discussed in the video.

I think this case is perfect for my needs, silent, spacious, closed with a door easy to open whenever needed for airflow or to throw a disk in there, got a 5.25" drive bay BUT hidden which is even better since I rarely use my optical drive anyways and it makes the case look far more better which is genius, and no tg, seeing the inside of your PC anytime you want without having to remove the side panel is thrilling and can be useful but I don't want to deal with broken glass or replace the case thanks to that at any possible point in time. Now if only I could find it in a local store nearby in my country, or any similar case, really, literally nothing I found so far piqued my interest.

Hey Greg, can you by any chance make a video or at least tell me the steps about the cleaning process of the clogging in the water cooling AIOs. I have the MSI coreliquid 360r water cooler and I'm experiencing the same symptoms that you showed in the fix or flop video, it used to be 25-30 at idle and 50-55 underload. now just after 7 months, it's 50-55 C while idle and 75-80 C under load.

I was wondering if I can send you my pc to fix it , I have a 2080ti with a i9-9900k 16 g of ram 1200w power supply 2tb hd 1 tb ssd , not to familiar with the mother board , but I’m having this problem where my pc crashes & restarts one when it restarts it loads up but loads up with dead pixels , & it tells me I don’t have my nvidia control panel installer ‘ & it also doesn’t show that I have my GPU connected shown on task manager
