Exactly. I just scored an MSI Quicksilver GTX 1070 on ebay for $175 shipped and was HAPPY to get it! A year prior the same card was twice (or more) the price. I was 'upgrading' from an HD 7970 so it worked out great for me. I've always been a few generations behind with my PC (which is ALSO why I appreciate this channel) and only upgraded when things really started to show their age, but this recent B.S. chip/card shortage that inflated EVERYTHING was a bit much. I wasn't even in the market for a 'new' card, but the used market got SO STUPID!

The main improvements with the 2080, and my 3080, is agreed, DLSS. Any game that has it, runs liek butter. It makes Cyberpunk and Dying Light 2 run at max graphics over 60FPS easily. No Mans Sky implemented a while ago, and again, night and day in performance. And when you use high quality DLSS, its actually better than TSAA.

  • @darthllama1

This is a feature I think a lot of people overlook. When I see videos of the RTX series and DLSS they only talk about how much it can boost performance with Ray Tracing, but they neglect to mention the huge difference it makes overall. This is a great example, even if you're just playing on 1080p or 1440p with High settings.. turn on DLSS and just get an instant 50-100% FPS boost. DLSS is worth it for sure.

I got a 3060ti and given the performance between that and a 3070 can mostly be made up with a decent overclock on an appropriate model, you're totally right. DLSS is kind of magic after coming from a 1660 Super while using a large 55" display.

Greg! . . . I need your advise. I have an RX 470 4GB at the moment and I have my heart set on either a GTX 1660Ti or a RTX 2060 12GB. But, the 12 gig 2060's are quite a bit more than the 6 gig models, in my area of the world. By more I mean an RTX 2060 6GB for around $180-$200 and the 12 gig models are $30-$50 more. Is the 12 GB model really worth that much more? I should ad that I am not a heavy gamer. I do not play any games that came out in the last 5 years. I just was thinking 12 GB would be useful going forward. What do you think?

However combined with the i7-12700K this again works well and I can’t get over just how quick it runs for filters and exporting photos.

Hey Greg... so what you think... I've got a gtx1080, and completed listings on ebay show that they're going for $300-400AUD currently I'm considering selling it, and buying a 6600XT, as they're going new in store for $350-450AUD Then... buy a 4080 a little while after they come out, and offload the 6600XT. TBH I'm thinking the 6600XT will hold better value than my 1080. How about you? I feel like a buyer would rather something a year old, than 4 years old... even tho they have similar performance. Do you think this is a worthwhile mess around, as a very minor performance upgrade? *If new gpu prices keep dropping, then value for both cards would drop I guess. And my theory is that the new gen lower tier cards will come out well after I've gotten my 4080 (or xx70/ti etc, 7800/7900XT whatever), SO that a 6600XT will hold onto its value a little while longer. *No way am I buying a 3080 or 6800xt today, no matter how many times stores will say "SLASHED SAVE $500!!!!"
