Thanks for the shout out! Hope that barrel serves you well! A lot less labor, energy cost, and time when you go electric and especially the PID. You shouldn't even need to vent it since you got the PID. Just set the set point a few degrees below boiling at your elevation

Yeah food cooks different there because of elevation so this makes sense

Definetly. For 3 gs at base it better be. Could do a burner and a barrel for less than 100, put some bells and whistles on it for another couple. Just make a boiler that uses silicone hose to run steam to 3 separate vessels, so I have 165 gallons of volume steam space. How long you run this for? How long does it take to get to an internal temp? How many bags do you for in there?, How many quarts of sub per bag??

@@ScreamSheLovesMeNot you could even buy a brand new stainless barrel and all the fixings for about 1/3-1/2 the bubba price(as of this post, it has a 12 week lead time on orders, yikes!).. nice looking product though, maybe its a business write off as well for commercial growers. i remember my first all american sterilizer and thinking that was pricey, still in use after almost ten years, but its not for scale.
Much love to D town!
Sportin' Sabers colors, nice!
Good Investment - Grow More !!👍🍄
I would love to see one video actually using one
Nice 😎
Hi, what temperature does it hold? From video it does not look that sturdy at top to keep enough pressure for 121 C. How is it not after 2 years?
So you chose this over a autoclave? I cant wait to get mine. Thanks
I have to ask, considering I nearly choked when you mentioned the price. Did you consider building one yourself? I'm curious what drove you to purchase a "kit" when you are essentially assembling it anyway.

Some people don't have time or tools to build. Especially when it comes to electricity. People get nervous. Looks like it would be a fun project though.

Hey I didn’t expect so much response about the price I really like the quality of the craftsmanship and machining of the parts - it’s a quality product and I have built many things myself but wanted something that would last 👍 MUSHLOVE

@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Hey! That I can totally understand. It was pure curiosity. I live in the UK and have I've wanted one since I first heard of them. I'm just envious really ;P I'm delighted to be able to follow your journey. You really bring the science into it. Love that. Can't wait for your findings on steam times! 🍄❤

How do you manage venting the steam
Have you been pressure cooking your substrate? I'd like to see a video on that with the exact amount of water and what types of bags you use..I've heard of people putting towels in their cooker to keep the bags from melting, but yet I see videos all the time of people putting the bags straight in with no issues..

@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi hey Gary this video only talks about mixing the substrate, do you have one loading the pc and what types of bags you use so they don't melt in the pc? Thanks for all the info too btw.

@@brian48williams if you have a 23qt presto pressure cooker like most of us, you ca n fit 4x 5lb bags. these would be "14A Unicorn Bags". they dont melt and have a filter patch in them so the mycelium can respire. you need to fold them in certain way but you should be able find a video on youtube
Were you able to find a solution to use these barrels with grain spawn? Trying to avoid buying an autoclave or a bunch of pressure cookers.
@FreshfromtheFarmFungi

I sterilize grains separate in my pressure cookers - grains are much more nutrient rich and have a greater risk of becoming contaminated so I think you would need to run the sterilizer longer to achieve full sterility. I have not dialed it in for grains and plan to use my pressure cooker separately just to maximize space during my runs - I would reach out to the manufacturer or Myers Mushrooms they may have a better answer 👍
How many blocks can you fit in the barrel at a time, and what size blocks do you use for production?

I will be doing some experiments with this very soon we are hoping to fit 40, 5lb bags per run but will see 👍 10lb bags would be nice as well

@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi smaller bags not tightly packed( substrate is insulation and VERY resistant to change in temperature) and smaller bags will maybe keep you from losing a whole batch you have a good bit of money time and effort invested in. Mushlove my brother.

@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi did you find out how many 10lbs blocks can fit in it? what about 5?
Apparently there is a way to do something similar in one of those heavy duty Rubbermaid totes and a PC. Not sure how long they will hold up.

I have used a small autoclave, 32qt pressure cookers, and 55 gallon drum with a gas burner for sterilization so this is a major upgrade

Gary you really need to stop doing videos on myers mushrooms equipment. Let him promote his own stuff, This just looks really bad. Your doing great work on your breeding program, stick with that. These products are a waste of money for people trying to break into the business. All these guys on youtube just want to make money off us little guys, don't encourage them.

2600? Are you kidding me? I'll sell them as well! You need a blank barrel $20 Some Van isolation which name I can't remember actually $40 A swimmer valve a heating element and some water installation stuff all together maybe $200... Do yo need more of these? I'll build some and ship from Germany for 2400! And a controller thats maybe $100 bought or you build your own using an arduino and some electronics experience then that will be max. $30 with even more features. And my Arduino version I'd build would be with Handy App display and steering! Thats just ridiculous to pay 2600 for this!

The Bubbas Steilizers are 100% welded stainless steel with stainless hardware. The PID controller is built by a professional brewing controller company and can handle 30A of 240V. Sure you can use a steel drum that will get rust all over the bags and rust a hole in a year or two and wire up your own controls but this is built to last a lifetime.
