Quick question..I'm building one of these now,first for straw and then maybe masters mix bags Inna few months..question I have is I got inkbird itc-608t, do I jus set the temp thing thru the top in the water w straw? And if I have bags do I position between the bags for temp?. I'm gonna run a 1500 w element I believe..and for the straw I just do at 160ish for couple hours right? Bit if I have 10-12lb bags in there,how long does that go for and at what temp? Hi pardon my ignorance but why is the thermocouple reading the air temp and not the water temp as the pid is controlling the element which inturn is heating the water to maintain set temperature.

Thanks for the video. I'm gathering supplies to build one based on your design - i'm finding it easier to come across used 18 and 20 gauge stainless barrels. I noticed that the bubbas build is 16 gauge - do you see any reason that 18 gauge wouldn't be sufficient?

16 gauge is just a more heavy duty barrel and its what bubbas sells. a 20 gauge should work fine, maybe a bit harder to weld if your going with tri clamp ferrules and welding the fittings vs weldless

Did you contact Bubbas? there was a big recall on lids last year for that. You should just get a new lid. If you didnt buy the pre built unit, just use a locking ring.

You use this for bulk sub pasteurization, not spawn sterilization right? Since it cant get to 15 psi?

There are 4 small hole sin the lid, no locking ring, or gasket.

A lot of this reminds me of electric HERMS beer brewing.

Bubbas barrels does a lot of brewing kettles. This is basically a modified kettle.

I use oak. But Ive heard people have good results with soft pellets for some species like oysters and lions mane. Douglas firr works well too

It should just be flip the element switch and cycle the key and it starts the cycle. If you want to change settings look up the part number on the actual controller and get the full manual from the manufacturer. I belive its a p100? Bubbas only gives you a quick operators guide.

This is the unit that u will use in the new facility???and how about the dobledoor unit that u ant TR shows us some months ago???what is the price and where i can buy it??

I think I over tightened my float valve. Am I going to be screwed when I have to replace it? What should I do if the fitting leaks after it's time to replace. Fuck

Just take it off and put fresh Teflon on and try again.

Yes that works for some species but not all. We do lime pasteurized with 20% soy hull in the batch mixer 800lbs at a time. Try that with chestnut or king oyster and it would be 100% contamination.
