Getting "the games in" has been something I have struggled with. I always want to feel 100% mentally and physically to play and it's really messing with my process because I end up playing 2-3 games per day. This episode was absolute gold from start to finish, it exposed many player flaws (a lot of which I have as well) and shed light yet again on the importance of the process. Legends!

If you read a book called 'Why we sleep' or just research info on sleep, you'll find that the mind has a 'limited' amount of new/important learning in a day which gets consolidated & freed up for the next day when we sleep during N-Rem sleep. This could be a key element for the importance of consistently playing EVERY SINGLE DAY. This is given, for example, in piano practice where one the day of practice, it's very sloppy, but literally after a good night sleep or just a nap, the player is instantly better.

I really think consistency is very important in league. I was in a winning streak with Diana and WW but stopped playing League for about 2-4 days and man the difference in the game play was huge, so playing 1-2 games every day is very good because in the back of your minds it'll create good habits which in my experience I did lost by just not playing for a couple of days xD.

I just find it surprising since its a truism that so many people will attest to.

As a Kyose viewer (which you guys clearly aren’t lol), it’s sad to see the slander on his name for no reason. The “it’s OCE” is a joke in his community, however I can see why it would frustrate you after pouring your lives into the game just to be out performed by a uni student who plays the game as a casual hobby. I also guess you guys have never flamed oce in your lives so anyone who has must be an incel. I suggest reviewing definitions :).

I believe both sides of this discussion have misinterpreted and miscommunicated with eachother. I don't strictly agree with some of the terminology used by Curtis and Nathan, however watching the footage over several times not once did they say verbatim et litteratim "Kyose is an incel" or anything similar. They were drawing a comparison between his mentality and the mentality of incels, in that they both externalized blame instead of reflecting and saying "This situation is my fault." Misinterpretting or not recognizing this distinction is likely the largest cause for drama here but it's an important point to notice. I can't accurately comment on the flame as I've not seen full clips of the incident in question. Secondly, I understand that every community has their own inside jokes, memes and banter that might not immediately make a lot of sense to an outside person or someone who doesn't interact there regularly. However, jokes still can and do play a role in subconsciously internalizing poor narratives. What is said as a joke by nine people, the tenth person may take seriously and begin to adopt that mindset. If we look at the wider community of league, it's actually a relatively popular mindset go seriously consider "oce gold 1 worse than euw/na/kr/whatever gold 1" or repeated for equivalent rank. Fortunately that narratives seems to be dwindling in popularity over the years but it still has its presence within the community, and jokes like this can help to reinforce it when used repetitively. It's a fine line to tread between genuine banter and potentially allowing a toxic narrative to brew, particularly when you're a streamer with a decent viewership. As for playing casually, Kyose has absolutely every right to do so, and props to him for being as good a player as he while managing university and work. I think this point may have been misplaced and unnecessary from the BBC team, particularly the comment on why Kyose left the midlane academy, since they had no real way of backing up or further discussing such a claim. However, playing casually is not a valid defence for a poor mindset. Overall I believe this is more a misunderstanding between two parties than true beef or vendetta for one another, which is unfortunate to see however Curtis and Nathan do raise good points about mentality and psychology among the league of legends player base. That said, those are my own conclusions and I encourage anyone else reading into this to reach their own, using whatever information I have provided and whatever else might be available.

The majority of what you said are horrible takes which is a shame really because you went to all that effort to type that essay. Firstly, on the point that seems to be extremely offensive, saying "its oce" has literally no malicious intent. In fact this light hearted joke personally helps me and others maintain a positive mindset, by preventing me from tilting and being able to have a laugh from bad moments. It is in fact possible to joke around and still be able to critique your gameplay, else I don’t see how Kyose was able to hit rank 1 (which according to the podcast is never the case for people who joke about oce). Being offended by someone saying “its oce” honestly just highlights your own insecurities because banter about regions has existed within competitive play since the beginning of time. You stated yourself that it is a popular mindset within the league community. Therefore there should be no need to pinpoint Kyose saying it in particular, and especially no need to use Kyose’s mentality as something to ‘draw parallels’ to incels with. I’d say the real ‘toxic narrative brewing’ is one where someone joking about their region is said to have the same mentality as an incel. As for the ‘flaming’ issue, I find it ironic that the hosts are flaming Kyose and nitpicking at a single moment in a single game. I guess they have never tilted and made a single statement throughout their entire careers on LoL, but I find that hard to believe from watching this podcast alone :).

@@seify6068 "You stated yourself that it is a popular mindset within the league community. Therefore there should be no need to pinpoint Kyose saying it in particular" of course there is, its a big difference between some randos on reddit spreading toxic narratives and mindsets and a streamer who some people will look up to even if its small streamers We cant hold everyone accountable for what they say but public figures such as streamers and youtubers who have a massive impact on how people will view the game should think about how they want to affect the community There is really no way for me to provide stats on this but I believe if the majority of the league content creators stopped acting like man children screaming at riot and sometimes their teammates on stream there would be at least some change in how people will view the game and act in game And no I am not calling Kyose a man child I do not watch his streams and dont know how he acts usually and I do not wish to comment on this drama with him I just wanted to explain that public figures in the community need to be held accountable for what kind of shit they spread around sometimes

Just admit it, you two have spent so long on this podcast always talking about "mentality" that youve started bringing other oce streamers (and arguably one of the nicer oce streamers who you should be trying to support) into the equation, just to use them as another example of the same topic youve done 100s of hours on. You start bringing the real world and his relations into it, its not that deep, dont make it a personal attack and make assumptions when you dont know him at all. Just sliding it one hour into your podcast like its nothing and not the major talking point of the video, this is not about league this is just pure bullying. You two could handle this like men if you really wanted, and sort it out in private by messaging him. No, he doesn't have to vod review if he doesnt want to, no one wants to be in a call with someone just telling them how shit they are, or demanding they explain their actions. You dont need to blast someone on your podcast over a minor disagreement made in a video game.

You guys should take this video down. Its mostly curtis just talking shit and name calling. Kyose did nothing wrong, youre mad he blamed his jungler and typed 2 words "its oce." This is pretty pathetic. I thought curtis tried to teach people to be better at league, why is he mad when he kyose wasnt even on his team. Its a game of league and not a dick measuring contest, youre basically just rubbing it in that you beat him, get over yourself.
